I'm so mad. We are at dessert inn abd we checked our bags this morning behind the desk. Well our iPad was stolen. We have to wait to review the tapes in the morning. Anaheim pd had a report and will come out in the morning. I've never stayed off site. I'm a Dvc member but stayed off site for cheer nationals to stay with our team. I can't believe this happened. The guy was way to inquisitive. Ughhhh so not ok.

Trust me I know how you feel. It sucks!

We always take our valubles (Passports, money, credit cards etc) with us in our park backpack or put them in the safe (Usually keep them on us) few years ago we stayed at a particular hotel across the street on harbor *I dont want to mention names, but its about 3 hotels up on harbor from the crosswalk* but I asked my dad to put my stuff in the bag, meaning park backpack, and he didnt. He put it in my luggage. A few hours later when at the park I realized I didnt have my things. So I went back to the hotel to find our room had been cleaned, but my passport and money were gone. We all searched high and low. We shook out our clothes, checked under beds, tables, TV stands, we even pulled out the mini fridge. I had to report to the hotel manager who said he wont give me info on who cleaned my room, and that it was my problem for lost items. I was so mad.

I called the police and filed a report after tracing my steps to stores, restaurants, Disneyland lost and found etc. Being from a different country I had no way home with no passport. So I had to call the Canadian customs, embassy, and all else to figure out how I was getting home. I went 3 days into my trip being at the happiest place on earth, worrying like crazy. 2 days after my passport went missing, my mom's souviners started to go missing from her bag. Now we are fit to be tied. My mom went down and gave the hotel supreme heck, and threatened horrible publicity, and funny how things happened, but that afternoon when we were in the park, my passport and my mom's items were left laying on the bed.

That's terrible that both of you have had these things happen! It's really awful. OP, I sure hope you get your ipad back.

We're always concerned about these types of things happening, as we always have to stay at off-site hotels. We only leave basics in the hotel room, and keep anything we care about locked in our vehicle, or we carry it on us in the parks. We've had cash stolen from hotel personnel before.

Those are such horrible stories! What a way to ruin a vacation; some thieving maid steals from your room.

To be honest, I fear about these things to no end on all my vacations, even to the point of leaving the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door for 90% of the trip. Thank God though that this has never happened to me. I don't even know what I would do if it did. But I can certainly identify with how you must be feeling.

That's so good that you got your stuff back, minus the money, at the end of the day, Mystic Path. DO please mention names. You mentioning names saves other vacationers trouble. Don't be afraid to put it out there who wronged you. We need to know. Especially since they didn't cooperate with you.

These stories are awful. I'm sorry you have had these things happen to you. During my stay we always have the do not disturb sign on our door, and clean up after ourselves. I figure it's better than worrying about someone going through my personal belongings. I hope you get your iPad back, OP. People can be such scum bags! :guilty:

We flew so no car to leave stuff in. I almost asked out friends if we could put in there car. But figured it was safer in hotel office. I'm up to deal with this while everyone else sleeps. Today is nationals and the girls need rest.

They also charged my cc when he said he wasn't charging it until check out. I'm canceling that card as I don't feel my info is safe. We decided lady night we are leaving do not disturb sign up when gone n leaving valuables in safe or our friends car.

This is. Not my Disney bubble!!!

That is such a terrible thing to happen on what is supposed to be a fun trip. I hope somehow the hotel management will investigate this theft and you manage to get that iPad back. Just bad business for a hotel when something like this happens. I'm glad you named your hotel. (To the other poster, please name your hotel too. Prevents others from the same frustration and grief.)

I had a maid steal a beautiful tin of unopened chocolates given to me by my boss during my first business trip when I was in my early 20s in a Victoria,BC hotel. Not as huge expense as an iPad but definitely woke me up to the fact that these things happen.

Good luck to you and hoping for a good outcome for you.

Did you get trip insurance? Some trip insurances will pay for lost or stolen items you took with you for travel (like cameras, not sure about tablet computers though).

 Wow! I really am in shock. I'm with the other DISers, please mention the name of the hotel! Or hint at the name in some way.

Update.. I called the front desk this morning to ask when the supervisor would be in to review tapes with the pd. Amazingly we just got a call that the guy who checked us in found it on the bench. Ummm last night they called him and hr said he put the bags away immediately and now all of a sudden it was found n put in his safe. Ummm really. You really think I'm going to believe that. Because if it was true he would have told the manager last night when he was called. Off to go get it.

Oh my gosh!!! This is all horrible!! I hope your ipad will be recovered very quickly - this is so horrible, I really feel for you!

I once so stupidly left our safe at Hojo's wide open. We had our cash, passports, cell phones, PSPs and a netbook. Housekeeping had been in to clean.

Nothing was touched in the safe, just as I had expected. We have seen the same housekeeping staff there for the past few years, so it's nice when you see that the staff has longevity there.

I am so upset for the OP and for the secondary poster as well. Things like that can really upset a person.

OP, have you had a chance to change passwords for login info. for websites you go to? Email, facebook, etc. etc. should all be changed immediately, but you maybe knew that. You have an excellent attitude and you should feel proud of yourself for being so strong. :goodvibes

OH, thank God you got it back. Please keep us updated. So where was this bench? Behind their desk? I wonder if they will still review the tapes.

It was the Carousel. This bothered me because I have stayed at this place for years and have loved every minute of each stay. I know it sounds stupid, but i've stayed here once since (I didnt book the package), and we again had fabulous service, and nothing went wrong. Actually at check in we were given upgraded rooms and free hot breakfasts every morning. I dunno. I guess it was a one time shotty deal as theft really can happen at any hotel. It just sucked. The last 2 trips we have stayed elsewhere and will probably stay elsewhere. I really do want to try other hotels in the area for something new.

I always leave the DND sign up on the door the entire trip. If I need something done I call and have it done WHILE I'm still there and even lock all my suitcases

Im so glad they "found" it! What a horrible way to start you trip! Definately not very magical. You would think your stuff is safe when you check it in but I guess not. Your story will definately make me more careful on our next trip. I hope you enjoy the rest of your time at Disneyland.

Yeah im sorry to the OP for this happening to them. I guess it's a good lesson for all of us. A good thing to do I guess is to get those mini locks that you can put on your luggage zippers. It might save a bit of trouble at check in. I think I will be doing that from now on.

Oh no! We're staying there for our May trip! Somebody told me they had in-room safes, so I was planning on us using those for my sister and her BF's laptops. Now I'm considering buying some little locks for the luggage, too... Do you really think your credit card information isn't safe with them? They already have mine; I had to put in when I reserved the room...

I'm glad your iPad was returned, but yeah, I don't think people should be able to stay employed if stuff like that is happening...

You know they have an app for that! Actually its a feature called "Find my iPad" or "Find my iPhone". You can pull it up from any web connected computer and see exactly where it is. Also you can make the iPad make a beacon like sound for 2 minutes and display a message like "give me back my iPad u fool". Also you can remotely wipe all the data from the iPad as well...

It's back. We already had everything cancelled last night. My step brother used it a lot. It's my step moms. So went to office. The new story was that housekeeping found it. This is after being told the guy who checked us inbound it and it was in the safe all day The manager said no one ever called him to ask if he found it. Ummmmm right. He said people blame them all the time and have the police out here. I'm glad it's back. But they are all lying.

I also told them who our friends/witness were. Well last night they got back from park and none of their Keyes worked. Not a coincidence
