Jules: "The fairness depends on the situation. Were they planning a surprise birthday party for you?" She paused a moment. "Sorry, this probably isn't a good time for jokes."
OOC: I forgot to mention this before; Nancy hasn't been talking to Mike for the same reason she went to that military school before; she's afraid she'll break down in front of him from grief and/or stress like Mike does whenever something reminds him of the war. This is how I imagine it in my head and kind of how Nancy sees it (Wings, I'm not sure if this is how you imagined it): Mike had always been the stronger of the two, so when Nancy was with her mom working as an agent, she started to get a bit more independent. Mike became a super soldier, then went with Bucky and Charlie Barnes in their division after he did a few shows with Steve and wanted to actually fight. They got captured by Hydra (and tortured, according to Steve) though, so Nancy and Steve went to rescue them. After that, Mike was a lot weaker, and suddenly she had to look out more for both of them. She also started spending more time alone with Charlie, and they missed the old Mike they knew and loved. Eventually, they slipped into the dating zone without realizing it. Then, Charlie kissed Nancy, which kind of made it official. They didn't tell Mike though, since he clearly had enough to deal with emotionally and weren't sure how he'd react to having his two best friends suddenly be in love and make him feel like a third wheel. Then Charlie and Bucky died, and suddenly Nancy had to be strong for Mike and her dad too. She hid her own grief, and became very stoic, which made Mike and her drift apart even more. Once they woke up in the twenty-first century, Nancy thought she needed to get away from the rest of her family and give herself more time to grieve. Now, she's a little better, but is still hiding a lot of the pain.
Gordon: "They think I have a mental disability."
