The Year of Disney Trips: ***Update!!!! 8/20/08****

ok first I fell off the chair after reading one line on here.

single rider sounds good.

:ssst: I'm hoping the mods skipped over that.

Single rider is a great alternative to when there are no more FPs :thumbsup2

:lmao: Daniel get ditched, too funny.

i missed that part. that is a little funny. not to him I am sure.

Probably not, but good TR fodder for us. ;)

What happened, what happened :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

And so funny those girls ditched Daniel :rotfl:

::yes:: He got teased relentlessly by Ivan for it too.

Oh no, it's over...But just in time to start your next trippie, which according to your ticker starts tomorrow:rolleyes1 popcorn::

Um well, I still have 2 trips in between. Hopefully I can get through those a little quicker though and get to the upcoming one soon-ish. :rolleyes1

how sad it is over. it was a great report. So sorry to hear about Joey. Hopefully he is feeling better soon but that is great that he was able to go and have a great time before he got sick. leave postings of how he is.

I cannot wait for the P&PP party.

That father sounded terrible on RNR. Some people I just do not understand.

Oh Z, I am so sorry to hear about Joey. How terrible, at least he had a wonderful family trip to Disney before he got sick. I hope that all turns out well for him.

Your adventures with the minions were always entertaining, now I can't wait for you to start posting about the August trip! :goodvibes

she has graduated college is pretty amazing.

Way to go Bre...:woohoo:

Everyone should experience Disney at least once. IMO

ITA:thumbsup2

Also, Bre recently found out that Joey (Minion #3) has Leukemia. Right now he’s in the hospital undergoing extensive treatments. So I am even happier now that Joey got to go to Disney and enjoy it without being sick. It was great fun to see his face light up on the rides and whenever he saw the characters. I know Disney is for everyone, but for me kids will always enjoy this magical place a little more than adults do. :wizard:

Thoughts, prayers and pixie dust for Joey:hug:

It was interesting going with kids, because I’ve never had that experience before other than going with my little brother when he was about 7, but it wasn’t the same. I now know what it’s like to be in the parks with kids, granted they were much older than many kids in TRs I’ve read, but sometimes I felt like I was dealing with younger kids and it’s really hard to stick to the plans or do the parks commando style as I’m used to doing. I had to learn to be flexible and take breaks and deal with their eating habits and moods, etc. I completely :worship: admire all the parents who brave the parks with their kids and am more aware of all that has to be done during this type of vacation.

Totally different experience, but worth it too!:thumbsup2

HAve a great time at MVMCP:cool1:

I know I've been bad about commenting lately. I have been reading though but it's been sorta ninja reading fest in a lot of TRs lately for me. Anywho, I definitely had to comment on your final thoughts ...

No matter how much Disney says it’s affordable not everyone has the financial means for this type of vacation and to have a Disney experience, and I was more than happy to give them this one. Everyone should experience Disney at least once. IMO
ITA! Disney being affordable is not always the case. I look at it from my family's point of view. We have 5 so we are limited in where we can stay. Then we have to add in transportation for 5 from NY and that, cheaply, can run around $1500 but usually more. Add in food and what not and it really is a big hole in your pocket. However, the joy it gives my family being there is totally worth being in debt over. Sure, I have to go out and get a part-time job now and wait for another Disney vacation but someday we'll go back because it truly is a wonderful family place.

This is so sad. My prayers are with you all. And it was wonderful that he and your family were able to experience Disney without the sickness.

I don't know about that ... ;) ... but it does bring a joy in a parent's heart when they see their children react in a positive way or when they talk about for months afterward ... :cloud9:

Thanks! ;) It definitely is a different experience with kids. Each year has gotten easier for us with the kids getting bigger and being able to experience more and more. I can't wait until we're stroller free ... although it is a nice place to plop all the stuff.

Well, thank you all for reading along with the craziness of my extended family and this portion of my Year of Disney trips and stay tuned for all the pirate: Pirate & Princess princess: Party fun that is to come soon-ish. popcorn::

TTFN!
Looking forward to it!!! popcorn::

I'M BAAAAACK!!!!!
All I can say about Disney during the holidays :santa: is it is absolutely beautiful! :goodvibes If you ever get a chance to make it, I would say go just to experience it, it truly is more magical. Although the crowds were ridiculous, I wouldn't want to see that place closer to Christmas. :scared1:

Anyhoo, I'll start the next trip as soon as I settle in and wind down. :)

Thank you all for the well wishes for Joey. He's a tough little kid, but we're all worried and praying for him as well.

I cannot wait for the P&PP party.

I can't wait either, it was so fun! :woohoo: Yes that father was horrible. :sad2:

::yes::

I know I've been bad about commenting lately. I have been reading though ...

I'm just happy to have you here reading DM, I know how hard it can be to keep up with all the fabulous TRs plus write one.

ITA! Disney being affordable is not always the case. ... However, the joy it gives my family being there is totally worth being in debt over.

Yup, every time I read someone TR I think of the costs it must have been for them to go on the vacation. I mean I fell out of my chair :scared1: when I first started pricing my first real Onsite Disney trip.

I don't know about that ... ;) ... but it does bring a joy in a parent's heart when they see their children react in a positive way or when they talk about for months afterward ... :cloud9:

:rotfl: I know, we adults love it as much and sometimes more than the kids. But I see why parent's will go through everything they go through to give kids those memories and make them adult Disneyolics. ;)

I'm so in! Sorry it took me so long! :woohoo: I like to think of it as fashionably late!

I am so sorry to hear about Joey's illness. Good thoughts & prayers go out to the entire family. Please keep us updated on his progress. God bless him.

Happy to hear you had a good time, now get writing! :lmao: J/K Take your time. :goodvibes

:rotfl:

Can't wait to hear about your Christmas trip!!

It'll be a bit 'til I get there, but hopefully soon. :goodvibes Thank you for reading!

I'm so in! Sorry it took me so long! :woohoo: I like to think of it as fashionably late!

:welcome: Don't worry, you're just in time for the start of my August trip. I think of it as fashionably late writing.

Thank you, I will give updates as soon as we hear of anything new.

And without further adieu.....

So here’s a little pre-trip info. As I was finishing up research for my April trip I saw Disney was going to be re-doing their pirate: Pirates & Princesses princess: parties that they had started back in February. I was bummed that I missed it in February because it looked fun, so I was super excited to hear it was making a comeback. I told my friends about it and they wanted to go too. So as soon as my April trip had been finalized, I started work on the future August trip, to be hit with the June trip in the middle of it. So I was now planning 2 trips at once,:rolleyes1 but I had the power of the DIS:disrocks: and it was a piece of cake.

I had our ADR’s and park days ready and bought the P&P tickets, plus my Mom had gotten a Free ticket to Universal Studios and extra coupon thingy to buy up to 6 tickets at a discounted rate. Well Isis is an AP holder at US so we decided to add on visiting those parks since I had a free ticket and Yani could just buy hers discounted. I had made DVC arrangements through the DIS and all that needed to be done was pay the lady we rented from. It took my friends awhile to give me the money, but it eventually got paid off and we were good to go.

It was initially four of my friends from work, but mid planning one of them dropped out, so our foursome had become a trio. Originally we were all gonna dress up, 2 princesses and 2 female pirates, but it ended up not going that way because we figured it would be too hot. I tried convincing my cousin Alexandra from my April trip to join, but she was starting college around that time and was unable to go. :confused3

The plan was set. We would be hitting the World August 13-17th; just one week shy of the now famous Lapupalooza:rolleyes: , which I was bummed I missed by a week.:guilty: Oh well, we were ready for some fun and I was headed to my Happy Place….Again!:teeth:

Woohoo! Another Trip! I am so absolutely jealous of you.

Welcome back! It is beautiful, but it is crowded. I guess from here until the end of the year people just have to go knowing that. I'm glad we don't have much of an agenda for when we go. We're going to do the Candlelight Processional, enjoy the Christmas Around the World stuff in Epcot, and just do whatever is not a hassle to do. We won't worry about fighting lines for rides this time. I look forward to seeing the pictures you took this trip.

How is Minion #3 this week? How is his mom holding up?

Monday August 13th

I was in the middle of my shift the night before when I got a text message from my friend Yani who was one of the three going on the trip. I knew it was coming too, so I wasn’t surprised when she asked if her boyfriend James could join us on the trip. I just knew that’s what it was, because she had already asked him but he had said no and at the last minute he started whining to her that he wanted to go. :sad2: So I said I don’t think it would be a problem as long as he didn’t mind sharing the room with 3 girls. Deep down I was bummed that he was going, because our fun girls trip had now been infiltrated, but I knew she really wanted him to go because he had never been to the World.

So now our trio was a foursome again. I left work at 7am on the dot and Isis my other friend joining us on the trip picked me up so we could go get the rental car since she had a cousin who worked for the rental place and got a sweet discount. :thumbsup2 Yani and her BF James arrived and we got our rental car. We inspected the car thoroughly and found some defects. So we told the rental people and they said they would give us a different car. Well they didn’t have any more cars in the class size we requested so they offered to upgrade us for free. :thumbsup2 So we immediately said sure! We ended up going from a scrunched PT Crusiser to a spacious Dodge Caravan. Score!:woohoo: We inspected that one and everything was good and took all our crap out of the other car and loaded it into the next one. We were on our way!!

I got a break from driving this time, but I was way too excited to get any sleep. Four hours later we finally see this:

CIMG2105.jpg

From Left to Right: Yani, Isis, Me

We drove to our hotel and I had an anxious feeling and hoped that this time around I didn’t have problems with the DVC rental. Last time the DVC owner had mailed me the confirmation letter, but this time all I got was an emailed confirmation number. I was also hoping it wouldn’t be a problem adding Yani’s BF. So as I calmed myself and gave directions to the resort, we finally come upon it’s loverly sign:

CIMG2106.jpg

We stop at the gate and announce we’re checking in and we get the loverly “Welcome Home”:cloud9: greeting by the CM. We make our way to the check-in area and Isis and I get in line while Yani and her BF browse. This time I don’t get that stuffy feeling that I had at SSR, it could’ve been because there weren’t that many people around, but the resort guests here seemed a little more laid back. The CMs checking people in though seemed a little bothered to be working that morning though. :confused3 I was hoping I got the one nice one, but I didn’t.:headache: I get called by the CM girl who has an airy look on her face and seems bothered that people are there. I give her my info and she looks me up, but doesn’t find me. I tell her the DVC owner’s name and finds her and that’s all.:headache: Great, just what I didn’t want to hear. I tell her about renting the points blah blah and she says ok and asks for my ID and all the other guest’s names. So she puts it in the computer and I ask her if it says anything about the DDP.
CM: “No.”
Me: “I had asked the owner to request it and she said she did.”
CM: “It’s not saying it was requested.”
Me: “Uh is there a way to add it?”
CM: “Yes.”
Me: “Well how would I go about adding it then?”
CM: “It has to be requested prior to check-in.”
Me: “I did request it, but apparently it wasn’t entered properly. There was obviously some problem with the reservation because our names weren’t even on it.”
CM: “I’m sorry that has to be done prior to check in.”
Me: “Well can I suspend the check-in and call to request it and then check-in.”
CM: “Sure.” Hands me the phone and stands aside airily
Me: Glancing back at the line forming, “You can call someone else to check-in while I get this resolved.”
CM: “No that’s ok.”

Well darn, now I feel horrible for all those people waiting in line, but it's the CMs fault not mine. It almost felt like she was doing it on purpose to make me feel bad, but I let it go and transferred all the blame to her. :snooty:

I finally get through to somebody and am asked for my DVC membership number. I explain the situation to the person and they tell me that only the DVC owner can request that. Great! :headache: I hang up the phone and tell the CM we’ll be back and she gives me an airily “ok” almost sarcastic like as if she meant to add on “if you say so.” So now I’m frustrated that this is happening...again and Isis & Yani can’t help because I’m the one that handled the reservation and planning so it’s all on me. So I look through my planning stuff and I locate the DVC owner’s number and dial and get this: “I’m sorry, the number you have dialed has been disconnected. No further information is available.” OH NO!!! :scared1:

Great start Z! Already an awesome cliff hanger!!

popcorn::

OH carp!!! This is my worst nightmare come Feb! I have all the info from the people I rented from and a contract but I'm still kinda scared. Do i really need to add the DDP before the check in? I was told by the people I rented from I could add it when we got there???? I hope everything turned out ok!!

OMG Z what happened :hyper:

BTW so pleased you're finally on August :yay: Not sure why though ;) :rotfl:

Oh no! I so hope this gets better.

I am so sorry to hear about your nephew. Poor little guy. I just hate it that little kids have to go through stuff like that! Keep us posted!
