The Yankees Win! Theeee Yankees win!

I have to tell you, they had me really nervous:scared: But the fact that they won, made up for it:D

But tomorrow will be a GREAT day at OUR stadium!

We plan to celebrate Kyle Loshe's B'Day with a win over his childhood hero, Clemens!

Yesterday, sure was great wasn't it? A BIG Yankees' win and a BIGGER Red Sox loss. It doesn't get much better. Andy Pettitte was just amazing last night. PLEASE re-sign him, George!
Zito against the Sox was terrific also. That big curve ball of his was just unhittable yesterday. I'm not looking forward to facing the A's pitching if we meet up with them in the LCS.

On to two Yankees victories at the Metrodome...

Sorry Twins fans, I really like your club a lot, but against my Yankees I've got to root hard against you.

Here's to a Yanks/A's ALCS.

yesterday was also the anniversary of Bucky Dent's homerun in the 1978 playoff game.

can I rehash my Operaman quote?

Yankees, they bring NY together
Yankees, we even love Steinbrenner
Yankees, now we break applause meter
with two words --

Derek Jeter!

OK - I've got to join in here. The Twins are not just a bunch of scrappy young bucks hoping for a win against Goliath. We are a darn good team - we go about the business of playing baseball in true Minnesota style. No big bravado, no big salaries - just a group of guys who love to play the game. I'll be at the Dome Sat. and Sun. watching these ordinary guys win. Sorry, Yanks, your time is up...

Let's get something straight....this Yankee team is not Goliath! They don't even know how to close out a playoff series as a team (just check the recent past)....which is going to be a problem. They may have won 101 games this year but IF they see the second round of playoffs, they will NOT see the World Series....that is, without a ticket, cable, or a dish! :D

This team doesn't hit well enough to compensate for their (physical) fielding and mental mistakes. Their starting pitching is OK but their middle relief is average at best and their closer is not the same guy he was three years ago. I believe the Twins, A's, Cubs, Giants, and Marlins are better right now!

Have to agree! We will be in our regular seats a few rows directly behind the batter about 1/3 of the way up on the aisle. Watch for us in our matching Twins home jerseys! We'll be waving our homer hankys from '87, '91, and '02 and '03. We have an awsome team and our fans are LOUD in that inclosed space. :Pinkbounc :bounce:

:wave2: Just here to add a little support for our Twins!

Ron Gardenhire said it best - no one ever says that they are winning because they are a good team, but they really are. They may not have all the individual stars that the Yankees have, but they are a true team and they know each other and complement each other very well.

What an amazing series this is - this is what baseball is all about. The best of the best playing each other. Gotta love October baseball!

Hey Diane-
It sounds like your seats are close to our regular season seats (we are in partnership with a bunch of people). We are usually in Sec. 125 or Sec. 127. But our playoff/series tickets are in 101 or 102 - five rows up. It will be a change after sitting behind home plate all season but, hey, we'll be there! I've gotta haul DD out of the shower so we can hit the road. Planning to get down there by 11! Enjoy the game - bring earplugs! GO TWINS!!!!!

...you KNOW I luv ya, Angel, but I have to burst your bubble:

Roger Clemens and the Yankess will win Game #3 vs. the Twins!! (I WILL give ya Game #4 so the Yanks can come back to da Bronx and win it fer the home crowd!)

#1. Closing out a series...last year they lost to the team that ultimately went on to win the World Series. The Twins and the Giants whom you think are better couldn't beat the Angels either last year. And, in 2001, I don't care if the Diamondbacks were the ones who ultimately were given the rings, that Yankees team made me as proud to be a Yankees fan as ANY of the four previous Championship teams from '96, '98, '99 or 2000. The game was lost on an ERROR by Mariano Rivera. And if Scott Brosious throws to first to get the double play, the game most likely ends in the Yankees favor. I still have the ultimate amount of faith in the Yankees' ability to close out a playoff series.

#2. Starting pitching. Yes, other teams might have better individual pitchers (Pedro Martinez, Zito, etc. ) but 1-4 starters, I'm still VERY happy with Mussina, Pettitte, Clemens and Wells. And having Contreras as #5 is none too shoddy. When you have Roger Clemens going up against any other team's #3 starter, you have to feel pretty good.

#3. Now for the biggest point: Maybe our closer is not quite the guy he was three years ago but he is still the best closer in baseball, IMO. Smoltz blew his save the other night, ultimately the Braves offense picked him up for a win, but he couldn't hold the save. No other team in the playoffs has a closer who is "money in the bank" the way Mo was and IS. Gagne, Hoffman, Wagner, et. al. are all playing golf now. I'll put my money on the great Mariano Rivera.

I am now stepping off my soapbox and returning to the game where my Yankees are currently leading the Twins 3-1!

Postgame Edit: Yankees win...Theeeee Yankees Win. And now lead the ALDS 2 games to one over the Twins. David Wells is pitching tomorrow. Go Boomer!

GO YANKEES!!!
