but the Mets have a much better new field/stadium.

We went to NYC last weekend. We started off our vacation with a Yankees game. (We sat in the rain for 5 hours on Thursday...ugh.) Then yesterday we ended it with a Mets game. (Rain delay again.) Anywho, Citi Field is so much nicer than Yankee Stadium. I honestly was expecting to be blown away by Yankee Staduim but was extremely disappointed. Then yesterday we drove up to Citi Field and I was in awe. It is such a nice stadium. I was floored at how much nicer it was. Don't get me wrong, Yankee staduim was nice but not what I expected.

However, there was just this 'feeling' about being in Yankee stadium that you can't get anywhere else. It was sort of electrifying; even during the rain delay. And I say this as a huge Orioles/Camden yards fan.

Somehow Mets fans seemed more New York to me though. I can't explain it so don't even ask. lol

bailout anyone?

I don't know if you were at the older yankee stadium- but the way they honor the players in the new Yankee stadium is FANTASTIC.

You walk into Citi and you can barely tell it's the Met's?

OP, we are planning a trip to DC in July and DH wants to visit Camden Yards. Do you have any suggestions/advice?

We love CitiField; the food is great, there isn't a bad seat in the house. It's nice and new. Lots of bathrooms, :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

BUT, Jackie Robinson was not a Met, so, I don't get the rotunda. Where's the Mike Piazza Piazza? LOL

And as PP said, there is no mention of '69 or '86 anywhere... Only references to Ebbets Field and the Polo Grounds. Nice, but what does that have to do with the Mets? Nothing. Uh, OK. Whose idea was this? Hopefully the Mets' history will find its way to the new field.

Glad you liked NYC.

Citi Bank was the sponser paying for the building and they had to get bailed out with taxpayers money

Citi didn't pay for the building, the Mets ownership did. Citi Bank did pay for naming rights, so we're paying for the ads. Don't get me wrong, I hate the fact that ownership sold the name to a corporation, but Citi Bank is not an owner.

And yeah, the Dodger feel is a bit much. But Fred Wilpon, the Mets owner, grew up a Dodger fan, he paid for the stadium. And I really don't have a problem with the Jackie Robinson Rotunda, it's honoring a great man. The Mets don't have a long history, so they borrowed some.

To you Yankees fans, I did say that there was just this "feeling" of being at Yankee Stadium that you can't get anywhere else. (I think I'm a closet Yankee fan. :lmao:) DBF won't let me buy a Jeter jersey though. BoooHiss!

Oh I didn't mention the coolest part. After sitting in the rain delay for 5 1/2 hours to see this game we were rewarded with being able to move from our cheapo seats (last row in highest section) to field level seats. We ended up about 20 rows behind home plate. It was freakin awesome! Then a little later on the loud speaker it was announced that fans that stayed for the game can exchange their tickets for tickets to any non-prime game this season or next. Now we have to go back to NYC! Bummer.

I get the "you paid for it" comments now.

Camden Yards is an awesome ball park. I love it there. Best ballpark food too....grille dog. Yummy!

The only advice I have is parking in the 1st Mariner Arena parking garage. Unlike Citifield there is no Camden Yards parking lot. The cost is $20. Also, if you want peanuts, water or soda buy them from the street vendor. You are allowed to take them in and they are much cheaper. Just be sure not to open the sodas prior to going in to the stadium.

If you are going to an evening game, try to make time to see some of the Inner Harbor during the day.

Wow, you are the first person I've heard say they prefered Citi Field to the new Yankee stadium. The reactions I've been hearing are overhelmingly in favor of Yankee Stadium.

Totally agree. Born and raised in Harlem NY, always loved, loved loved going to catch a Yankees game. Absolutely hate the new stadium not to mention the price. I caught the mets/Phillies games at the old Shea and it's a much nicer stadium.
