Again, for those of you who did not read the introduction that I posted weeks ago (pregnancy swallows up such time), a week before my scheduled Disney trip with DS and her son, I discovered DH and I were expecting our first little one. After allowing ourselves some time to glow in our good news, I realized that this would seriously effect my Disney trip.
No ToT or RnR for me. I was trying to be optimistic, but the moring sickness soon crept in and stayed with me for the entire summer.
Normally I enjoy packing for a trip. I'm one of those sick people who enjoys doing laundry and organizing stuff. The morning sickness changed all of that. I was fortunate that I didn't throw up at all, but I had the feeling as if I was going to throw up all day long. Honestly, vomitting would have been a welcome relief. The ginger ale, crackers, and Sea Bands did nothing to make me feel even the slightest bit better. Also, I never want to see ginger ale or a saltine cracker for the rest of my life.
Monday morning arrived and my sister, her son, and our dad arrived to take us to the airport. The huge plus of this trip was that we departed from Allentown, PA and arrived in Sanford. This was much easier than leaving from Philly. I highly recommend this to anyone who has the option to do so.
Even though it was my nephew's first plane ride, he was not phased about any of the plane experience. He did enjoy the numerous trips he "had" to make to the bathroom. We arrived on time in Sanford and were promptly met by our driver from Tiffany. I'm sorry I can't remember his name, but he was very helpful in loading up our luggage and hooking up the car seat for my DN.
After a stop at Goodings, where we bought lots of food we didn't even open, we arrived at the WL. My DS and DN explored the stream while I waited to check-in. After telling the CM I was expecting and really wanted to just lie down, we were off to our room overlooking the villas and quiet pool.
I don't remember really unpacking on this trip. I just loaded up my dirty clothes in a garbage bag and took from my suitcase what I needed.
DS and DN left for a swim while I napped. I quickly learned that DS and I could have saved much money by just taking DN to our local pool. All he was interested in doing for the majority of the trip was returning to the resort and swimming in the pool. Lesson learned.
We all got cleaned up and took the boat to the CR for our PS at the CG. I had been looking forward to this for months. This is where I realized that pregnancy had some very weird hold on my body. Things started out well enough. The flatbread went down and tasted good. The mussels, not so much. I later learned that there was lemon grass in the broth. This didn't smell good at all. My DS quickly dispatched of the mussels and a short while later our entrees arrived. Since I had the beef filet October '03, I couldn't wait to have it again. I love beef, especially the rare kind. Our wonderful waiter, Jon, set the plate down in front of me and my beef was covered in the bbq sauce I had asked not to have. I should have taken this as a sign. When the new filet arrived, I had one bite and immediately realized my steak eating days had come to a nine month end. I couldn't see it, taste it, or smell it. Jon took it away and offered to bring me something else. Nothing seemed appetizing, so after DS finished her pork, we headed out. The meal was a huge disappointment.
We ventured to the gift shop where I was able to get two of my monorail magnets. That gave me a warm fuzzy on a day filled with too much disappointment.
Due to the downpour outside, the monorail was packed. Thanks to a very polite man from Canada, I was able to sit down. Why is it that more men who are able to do so don't give up their seats to women and children? DH does so all the time and it's just another reason I love him.
We arrived back at the WL and I enjoyed some applesauce and warm Coke before bed.
Day two was our MK day and breakfast at the CP. I was hoping that breakfast food would agree with me.

You poor thing! I feel badly for you, being sick at WDW. My 8 weeks pregnant daughter is going through this right now. She has already been hospitalized 3 times for dehydration. She even threw up on a policeman who stopped to check on her because she was throwing up on the side of the road. I hope you are all over that now!

Sorry to hear that you were sick at WDW. :( But at least it's for a great cause, right? :teeth:

Lissawynn - Your report brings back vivid memories of morning sickness! Why the heck do they call it morning sickness anyway, when it lasts 24 hours a day? (I'll bet it was a man who invented that term !!!!). ;) Actually, you don't really wish you could have vomitted, because unlike having stomach flu or something similar, vomitting when you're pregnant never seems to help. You feel just as wretched as before, except now there's a logistical problem (i.e. where's the nearest spot to hurl discreetly?) to deal with as well. I have fond memories of being sick into a garbage pail in our family room while trying to fend off the dog who was obviously thinking "Wow, Mom's got all that good food and she won't even share a little piece?". Isn't that lovely? :D

I hope the rest of your trip will be a little smoother, and that in real time you're feeling human again. After 18 weeks with the first one (about 28 weeks with the second one) I felt wonderful again and made up for lost time on the food front.

Good Luck!

I too was 12 weeks pregnant once at disney. I lost 4 lbs while there that 10 day trip. I can honestly say it is the only time I have lost any weight at Disney...

I found I could not DRINK anything until about noon time and I would only have crackers up until that time. I found it was the liquid that was making me sick, not the food.

Also, the smell of ANY food made me ill too...

Try not drinking anything until a little later in the morning, it might help...

I'm sure your next trip will be better...:)

So sorry about your morning sickness but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, you know.

Last year I found out I was pregnant the night before we left for Disney. Figuring I was only 4 weeks' gestation I rode all those rides like RnR, TOT, etc., without any problem. It was too early for the morning sickness to kick in for me (and let me tell you, when it did kick in, it was bad, landing me in the ER for hydration, but that's another story).

The thing I missed the most was the wine, as we were there for the Food & Wine Festival. We were also there with my parents and inlaws and luckily they didn't catch on that I wasn't drinking. It was too early to tell them, we thought.

My daughter is going on 4 months and will experience her first "out-of-womb" visit to the Magic Kingdom next month.

I am so sorry that you weren't feeling well. Who wants to be sick at WDW. But oh do I remember those days. In May of 2002 I had left my, now ex, back at home (he had to work) and met my parents for a couple days in WDW. It was tradition for the girls of the family to ride the Tea Cups. So, my mom and I got on and spun as fast as we could. Well, I can handle rides that spin with no problem, however, this time was different. When we got off I was SO sick. The entire trip I seemed to be a little off: I couldn't handle any rides that spun or even jsut rockes a little, I didn't eat much (and for me a WDW, that just CRAZY). When I returned home, I found out I was pregnant. A great surprise but man the sick felling stinks! I hope you get feeling better, if not already. And just know that it is all so worth it in the end!

Good news is that pregnancy ends and next time you return to Disney, you'll love watching your childs face light up at everything he/she sees.

Good for you doing the rides, most people immediately think they can't do ANYTHING, except be pregnant. Boy that morning sickness though, like the others, I used to call it "Morning through Night Sickness", never vomited, just never felt well - but now have 2 adult children and 2 wonderful grandchildren (but I'll always remember those days!!)
