It's surprising after my gap of 17 years that no other country has been added to the Epcot' World Showcase.

Just thinking, If they could, Which nation would you love to see added to it and why?

I've noticed there's no Australia - which surely would be a favourite contender for one and all. Surprisingly to see there's not even Greece or Spain.

The ones that you mentioned sound like good picks. They are major and the Australian continent is not represented at all now.

There have been rumors for years that Spain would be the next one. The past several years, Spain has set up a large, temporary pavilion for the Food & Wine Fest.
Anyone remember the Millennium Village? I always wondered if that was sort of an "audition" to find a new country.

My husband wants to see Russia. Ooh, wouldn't that be beautiful?

another vote for Russia. I think St. Basil's Cathedral would be an AWESOME addition to the world showcase. They could serve Blinni, and plemeni (sp?) and of course vodka! Perhaps Russian ice-cream (there is nothing like it).

I vote for Russia, although, I don't think they would be willing to pay for it like the other countries did. Australia would be great also. The countries are sort of buying advertising at Disney World, as is obvious by the attractions. I am surprised Saudi Arabia has not funded a "Country" in the WS. They have big ties to Disney, but than again, it is not a huge vacation destination for Americans like France, Italy or Canada are.

I'm obsessed with Egypt, but that may be too close to Morocco. But I definitely like the idea of Australia and/or Greece and/or Russia.

Greece would be incredible.

A small-scale Parthenon would be cool.

They could maybe have a Maelstrom-like ride involving greek myths and heritage.

India. How about a mini Taj Mahal?? Curry anyone??

Yes, Greece would be neat. They could have a pastry shop that would rival France's. Baklava, yum!

Unfortunately, the host countries sponsor the pavilions... so you have to find someone willing to foot the bill. :sad2:

Definitely Greece! For the food, history, architecture, entertainment...

When I really think about it, some of the countries that are there now seem like unlikely choices. For example, Norway and Morocco... they aren't exactly major countries in the grand scheme of things, KWIM?

Another vote for Russia and St. Basils as it's centerpiece. I wish I could go back, but until then, I would love to see it in my other favorite destination...WDW!!

There's already enough European presence. There's nothing from South America, how about Brazil? Or Argentina? Something from sub-Saharan Africa would be cool too.

But the one I'd most like to see would be India.

Thailand - love that Thai food!
A South American country

My understanding of the situation is that Disney looked at Russia, but the country could not or would not sponsor the showcase. Apparently, they will not build any attraction in EPCOT w/o a sponsor. There were 2 or 3 other candidates that suffered the same fate, but I don't remember which countries were involved.

Russia would be good, as would Australia.

Greece would be cool, as long as it was "ancient Greece." WS has enough of the traditional "European" stuff.

How about something tropical or Polynesian? Perhaps Tahiti or Fiji. That would make an interesting contrast to other attractions.
