The Wii Collective

Dh bought me Toy Story Mania for Christmas. I haven't had a chance to play it yet but I'm sure it will be fun.

George, I got the Super Mario Bros. Wii too. Sean and I played it Saturday night. I found it absolutely hysterical how you have to work as a team with the person you are playing in order to do well. He was Luigi and I was Mario and we kept jumping on each other's heads! ROFL We also discovered if you move too far away from each other, one of you will die.

Thanks nikki. We have not played coop mode yet. I figured if we can't co-exist in the kitchen together, a video game has no chance. :)

I got Super Marios Bros - and can't get beyond 3 thingies (manhole covers?) We have the book, but it seems to assume you know how to do the basics. How many hours will I spend trying to figure this out!?!?!? - wish my grandsons lived closer so they could help me out. :confused3

Now, how did you figure out how to get around in Mario Bros??? I just can't figure that out :confused3 I need Mario lessons...

Hi Lois. I can't help but cheat at these games somewhat. I use walkthroughs because I just don't have hours upon hours for discovery. It still takes me plentry of time to execute whats in a walkthrough after I've gone through the level and gotten frustrated. Here is one for SMB's. Lot's of detailed help.

I got my Wii last year sometime, but just before Christmas this year, DBF bought Mario Kart. LOVE IT!

I also really love my Wii Fit.

I really want to get Animal Crossing and the new Super Mario Brothers game, and am VERY anxiously awaiting the release of Epic Mickey:goodvibes

Same here! Epic Mickey! :woohoo:

Thanks George, something I can try to muddle through ... I'll check back when I get a chance to try it out.;)

But, we are STILL playing Animal Crossing! I was successful in getting all the jingle furniture this year. :dance3:
We're still trying to make acceptable snowmen.

I've gotten to the first little castle so far. Just keep trying!!

Deb and I actually got to the 1st castle in coop and I was able to beat Bowser Jr. The yelling at each other was intense with a lot of laughs. She is now back to solo with helicopter head Mario and finally made it back to Bowser Jr. She freaked during the boss battle and lost it. Now she is back to trying to get to those little red doors and yelling again. It's actually quite funny.

George, that is exactly how Sean and I were Saturday night. It was absolutely hysterical. We loved it! Great fun!

P.S. Okay, admit it. Who jumped on whose head first? Lmao

LOL Nikki. Not sure who jumped on whos first. I do know I tried using her Luigi head as a trampoline. :rotfl2:

Staying on the screen together is the toughest part. I see question marks to go after but all she see's is shiny bits of glitter and coins. Tomorrow will be another day of Wii. Time for bed.

We too got a new Wii for christmas. Rather, I bought my husband one!

We got mario cart and guitar hero 5. My question is, do they sell the guitar that you need seperately? Or would we be better off just getting guitar hero one and starting from there?

Jennifer

i have seen many models of guitars sold seperatly, but i did not check if they work for every gaming system.
animal crossings sounds too much like real life for me,but my daughter really wants that game.
mario bros sounds hilarious,we love that game on DS,so we will definitly have to get that one.
i like my wii fit, and speed racer is a really fun game.
this year i want to get rock band for sure!

someone mentioned wii plus, what is that?

This was kind of last year's Kindle effect. Pete mentioned being addicted to Animal Crossing, so being the good little do-bees we are, many of us also became addicted.
You start off with a town, you name it, and you name your character. There are other "townies" already in the town. You work to get your house, then enlarge your house. You earn bells (which are the monetary units in your town). You fish, catch bugs (during their appropriate seasons). You donate things to the town museum, and sell extras for more bells. Generally, you just try to improve your town. When you get bored (we've never done this), you can burn your town town, and start all over. There's no "winner" and the game never ends. Just goes on in real time (although you can cheat and change the time if necessary). If you have friends who also play, you can visit their towns (and they can visit yours). If you have WiiSpeak, you can actually talk to them! People get a little freaked at the idea of people (strangers) visiting, but only the people you give your friend code to can visit. You can send mail to your towns people, or your other friends.

I remember the talk on the podcasts about Animal Crossing. made it seem like it was THE game to play! But it sounds a lot like Farmville on Facebook! I am about to give up that "time suck".
Any other comments about A.C., please...

We have had our Wii for about a year and a half. Wii love it:rotfl2: Animal Crossing is a must, but right now my DH and I are addicted to Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga. I had Christmas week off and all we played, night and day was Star Wars, I cant believe grown adults got sucked into the non-stop playing. I am still tired. We ran out the other day and picked up Lego Indiana Jones. Hopefully it doesnt become another marathon.

George, it IS possible to use Luigi's head as a trampoline. ;) Not that I wound know or anything. -grin-

I spent a few hours last night playing Sims 2 Castaway. It was one of the ones Sean gave me for Christmas. I am a Sim nut anyway, but I really like this game. You have all of these goals to meet which keeps the gameplay moving unlike the regular Sims.

What is this Wii Motion thing I keep seeing all over? Anyone know?

Wii Motion Plus is the adaptor for the wiimote that Nintendo came out with last year. It's suppose to add a finer level of control to the wiimotes. Not all games use them. It was introduced with Wii Sports Resort and one was included with the bundle. During the fall sometime they had a Wii Sports Resort edition that had (2) included. :woohoo: It also came in a package with Tiger Woods Golf. There are other games out there that use it's abilities as well. I don't have a list though.

Just thought I'd put a fun girl game out there. I got my nieces Charm Girls Pajama Party for Wii for Christmas and they LOVE it. You can have pillow fights and there is a hair teasing contest, make up, games, ect...if you are looking for something girly both my nieces (14 and 10 yrs) gave it a big thumbs up.

The best things we got for our Wii were rechargeable batteries for the light bar thing and a charging station for two Wii remotes.

As far as games... We have a ton of the games but we really love Pikmin in our house and have yet to get Olimar back to his family. Pretty much anything Mario is a hit with Super Mario Galaxy being the ultimate. The Wii Fit is good but I have a love-hate relationship with my trainer and I won't repeat on here what I lovingly call her. And Super Smash Bros is a good one for my two young boys.

You are being an bad influence again. ;)

I'm trying alternate playing my new Sims 3 on the laptop and playing Wii. We might do a lot of Wii on New Years--playing Animal Crossing, NC B's star wars game, and his new game--Pikmin (still wrapped).

I have had my wii for a while now. I got Tiger woods pga 2010 for christmas and its brilliant. Best golf game i have played
