The white van!?!?!?

What happened to the white van? It's just a coincidence that people reported seeing a white van at almost every shooting? Or is it possible there are two sets of people doing it (working together obviously)?

From what I have understood, you can't throw a stick without finding a white van around in that area. Tons of service trucks are around.

Thats a good question. I was wondering that too? No one reported seeing the blue car from any of the earlier scenes. Another weird thing, the license plate was from NJ. Did he live here at one time? Was he headed back up here?

I don't know what the deal is with the white van with the ladder rack on top, but I have license plates numbers for every van meeting that description from the Oxon Hill Home Depot, should anyone want them!!

Actually I heard on the news earlier today that someone did report a suspicious dark-colored chevrolet driving around the parking lot at the time of the Home Depot shooting. Either they didn't follow up on it, or they were intentionally not mentioning it, since there was so much emphasis being placed on the white van.

Speaking of the Home Depot -- do you think there is any link between the guys they arrested and the guy who was giving the false information on that shooting??

I counted 63 white vans in my travels from Washington to Baltimore one mornng. Possibly the bad guys were calling in tips on the white van to distract people from the blue car.

We've been bombarded with so much news today, I really can't remember all that I've heard. But help me remember, wasn't it established that the ex wife in Clinton, Maryland had a white van?

I've heard it mentioned two or three times in passing that the ex in Clinton has a white van or a white truck.

My mom's theory was that with so many white vans in the area, it would be easy for the sniper to set up, wait for a white van to enter the area, then fire at the next person he saw.

Scary stuff.

Maybe there is no white van.

After the first couple of reports regarding interest in a white van with a rack, I would imagine that witnesses to later shootings who looked around after hearing the shot would have subconsciously noticed any white van in the area. After all, that is what they had been TOLD to be on the lookout for. Not that anyone purposely misled police about seeing a white van (other than the false reporting witness at the Home Depot).

Oh, thats a shame that they didn't publicize the blue car earlier. My brother said they drove past the Home Depot all of the time en route to other places, and couldn't believe something so awful happened there. They were looking out for white vans or white trucks during all of this! I kept calling them to see if the local news said anything different than CNN.

Atleast now, I can take a break from the news for awhile!

Government Vans are all white. (Along with most gov't. vehicles) So it's pretty safe to say when you are in DC, no matter where you look, there will be a white van there.

Has anyone seen a recent report about them finding a hole drilled the truck of the blue sedan....large enough to shoot from? This report came across my computer about 30 minutes ago...it's all so chilling.....

FREDERICK, Maryland (AP) -- A law enforcement source says "we're positive it's these guys."

The source is linking two men arrested early Thursday morning at a Maryland rest stop with the string of sniper shootings in the Washington area.

The source says police have found a gun, a scope and a tripod in the car the two were found in, a blue Chevrolet Caprice.

CNN is reporting that a hole was drilled in the trunk of the car, through which the rifle could be fired.

Police are awaiting ballistics tests on the gun, but the source says it appears to have the same caliber as the one used in the sniper attacks.

The shootings began about three weeks ago and have left 10 people dead and three injured. Broadcast reports identify the two who were arrested as 41-year-old Army veteran John Allen Muhammad and a teenager described as his stepson.

This is paraphrased from KYW 1060 News Radio -- I heard this report on the way to the grocery store.


The address the Caprice is registered with is a take out establishment on Sheridan Street in S. Camden NJ.

The Mohammed was a "regular" at the take out place, the owner/workers there recognized the name/face.

The Caprice was parked there in August! (YIKES!)

i don't know if anyone else has asked this yet or not...does anyone find it odd about the statement the sniper wanted the cops to say? my DH made a point this morning that it could be some kind of secret code to start something else...

i don't like to think that will happen, but isn't it strange?
