The whereabouts of Sompong??

We are cruising the Med this May 2011. We have requested Sompong as our server!

Does anyone know if he is still on the Magic or have they snatched him for the Dream??

He was on the Magic until the end of the Med season. He was then going home for a short time, before rejoining the Magic apparently.

Whether that has changed, I am not sure, but we are hoping he is on the Magic in July!!!!

We had him as our server on the Westbound Transatlantic last year and he was expecting to stay on the Magic.

Count us in as Sompong fans!!! If he's on the Magic in June, I'm going to see if we can get him as our server.

We just got off the Magic yesterday morning and he was our kids' server. He was totally awesome. We had a group of 42 and were assigned to 5 tables--no one ever sat at their assigned tables, we kind of sat with different people each night. That is, except for the 20 kids in our group. We always had two kids tables of 10 each and Sompong "Sam" was always their server--no matter what table they were at. He told the adults to forget they had kids for dinner and he would make sure they ate and were taken care of--and he did a fantastic job of it. My daughter asked our head server if we could bring "Sam" along home with us. Sam overheard her ask and said he couldn't because he would be too cold!!! He also told the kids to call him Sam and not Sompong because that is what his wife calls him when she is angry! Too funny!

He is one of favorite servers. We have had him on the Magic three times and he always remembers us. I miss him!

When we had him as our server in September, Romaine from Jamaica was his assistant server.

This is great news (if they let him off on schedule -- they've held him over before) because that means he'll be back in time for our Nov/Dec b2b. Our request is in, they better honor it!! Count us among the Sammy fans.

Was this recently? I was told that he had been promoted to Palos. His assistant server was Romaine last year, so has that changed?

I did request him, but didn't think we would get him, if he was in Palos. My dd will be really disappointed if he isn't on the main dining!

We sailed on the Magic's May 7th cruise. Sompong was our server and Lady was assistant. Both are great, and we would love to have them as our servers next May when we sail again.

Just got off the Magic on Saturday so very recent. Definitely not in Palo. His assistant server currently is Lady from Peru. Talking to Lady, she said she might be the server when Sompong goes home. She, herself, was supposed to go home in the fall but has extended her stay so she can go home for Christmas. She says she has a lot of fun working with Sompong and they work together really well.
