The Sox will win tonight.
First off, regardless of what the matchup looks like, it just has to happen. Even their opponents are tired of watching them lose, and beginning to get confused about it.
But hey, for once, the matchups are actually quite good!
Cleveland sends Mitch “our -----” Talbot to the mound. I doubt he’s actually called that. If he and I were friends, you better believe that’s what his nickname would be. We probably wouldn’t stay friends for very long after that.
Anyhow.
Sox hitters Talbot has faced have generally teed off on him to the tune of 10-for-24, a .417 average, highlighted by Youkilis (2-for-4 with a homer and 3 RBI) and Pedroia (3-for-5, 2 RBI). So we should be able to bring the lumber tonight.
And tossing for the 0-and-4 Boston Red Sox is none other than the luxury number five himself, Daisuke Matsuzaka. Dice-K actually held Cleveland to a .188 average, as their hitters are just 12 for 64 against him with a lone longball (from Shin-Soo Choo) and 5 walks.
It’s actually the best any matchup has looked for the Sox thus far this year.
And we’ve got break the seal on that W column at some point, haven’t we?
