WFD - The smothered pork chops....

So I had an appt. with my GP today to do all of the blood work, and have a general exam before my surgery...

Everything was going fine until time to draw blood, I am sitting there talking to the woman, and she pricks, and the vial is filling up and the next thing I know I am on the ground and people are calling my name and rubbing my face with a cold rag....

Passed out... Right there int he Dr office. out cold on the floor...

oh well, they move me back to the chair, make me site there and drink a soda, a real one, which I have not had in ages.... and then when I have color back, they let me go...

I was doing the walk of shame out of there, I was so embarrassed:sad2:

Oh, Brandi! Don't be embarrassed! I passed out in Walmart at the checkout stand when I was pregnant with Timmy! It was the weirdest sensation! There is nothing to be embarrassed about. At least you were with medical professionals. I was in a store, and had to be escorted to my car by a policeman that they had called! He followed me to my house, to make sure I made it home ok. Talk about embarrassing!

Wow Brandi! That isn't good! Glad you're ok! :)'

I have some exciting news on this end, my best friend is expecting! She's due in July and I'm thrilled! I will live vicariously through her.

WFD: taco salad

Jen - here are the pock chops, DH LOVED, yes, LOVED it....

Oh no! I'm so sorry!! I would be embarassed, too, but you really shouldn't be - it was certainly not your doing!

I am ok... At least I hope I am... The Dr. just seemed to think it was from the blood draw.

Funny though the first thing he asked is "could you be pregnant" ummmm NO!!!!!!!!! I can't be....

this may be tmi, but my DH is fixed....:rolleyes1

Good Morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am supposed to be very busy but so far......not so much ;) Maybe in a bit

Dinner is leftover turkey something. I want to get a turkey soup going this morning and then off to Kady's Christmas show. This is the first time Buddy cannot sneak away to watch her and he was very disappointed.

Nola likes Dora the Explorer and several months back we were reading a story that The Grumpy Old Troll was in. Well she has been referring to Buddy as The Grumpy Old Troll ever since. The other night Marisa took her to Build a Bear and they stopped in to show us the bears and someone helped her come up with Grumpy Old Wife :confused3:rotfl: Really Marisa???????????

Sometimes I'm a grumpy (not) old wife. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Lightin' is everythin' next to great presentation of food. ::yes::

We have fluorescents in our kitchen 'n my wife sez it's too much trouble to load pictures to the net from our Nikon, the one we bought so we could take really good pictures. She loads directly to Facebook from her phone, that's why it appears we eat a lot of grey food! :rotfl:

liamsaunt, I can eat your food right off the computer screen, I wanna make 'em into screen savers! :lmao:

Sweetheart, don't make me come over there...:lmao:

We're making a date to sit down with the fancy camera over the holiday. We'll try to teach each other how. You know you wanna. :lovestruc

Now stop licking the screen.

Hi everyone,

I am so far behind and I really don't know if I can read back and catch up so I am just going to jump in.

I have been so swamped at work, and probably will be till the middle of January, when Advent is over, year end reports are sent in and accounting program is set to the new year. It was a year ago this morning that my little world fell apart and Eleanor quit, leaving me in this mess. It is so much better but still not perfect - not even close - so frustrating!!

On a much better note - Liam is coming home today!!! He has just done perfectly. Doug and I went up on Sunday and I FINALLY got to snuggle that sweet baby. Oh he smelled so good. Jay and Elizabeth are at the hospital as I type getting him ready to leave. I am so excited as I am sure his parents are to. This little family is so ready to be together again. And just in time for Christmas. He dropped to 5 lbs 5 oz but as of yesterday is 5lbs 7 1/2 oz. Still really little but doing so good. As soon as work is over I am going over for a quick snuggle (if he is awake) or just a peek if he is sleeping. What a wonderful Christmas present we have gotten.

WFDT ~ Homemade vegetable barley beef soup with fiesta cornbread.

Make it a great day my friends.

Welcome home, Liam!

He's beautiful Ellen!!!

Actually it should have read "onion rings", but I could add onion to almost anything and love it!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We're having Corned Beef Ruben Casserole for dinner tonight. I found it in a low carb cookbook back when we were doing Atkins. We're not eating that way any more, but I stilll kind of like the casserole. It's corned beef, cheesy goodness cooked up almost similar to a souffle with caraway seeds, just no rye bread.
It seems to me we aren't going to do much of anything today. Fran seems too wiped out from going to rehearsal last week. I think we are going to have a very mellow trip to Vegas next week.
Yea, I could put onions on anything too. :lmao:
And mellow trips are wonderful. I hope y'all enjoy. You both need it.
It's happened to me. Twice. :rolleyes1
I'm glad you're okay. :hug:
Today has been interesting... my tire was flat, again, so I set my alarm to hit Discount Tire when they opened at 8am so I'd have time to meet my mom at 10am. I flipped the alarm off and wake up too late to do anything but throw on clothes and race to the tire store.
Thankfully, I get done in time to meet mom for a morning showing of The Muppets. I really wanted her to see it with me, and since tonight is going to be rough for me, I needed a feel good movie to start the day. Plus we were the only ones in the theater so we sang along :laughing:
However, since I woke up late I didn't get to wash/dry my hair. And it's gross and unacceptable to wear tonight. And I don't have time to get back home after the movie.
So, I made an appt at the local beauty school and after the movie, had them wash and dry it. I tell you what; if I was independantly wealthy, I'd pay someone to wash and dry my hair everyday. What a treat! And my hair - which is really long and thick - looks great!
I got into work later than normal but I work until almost 9pm so I figure it all evens out :laughing:
Last night, we smoked a chicken so we're having that with a new recipe, spinach and artichoke mac and cheese. I also have to make a dish for a work party - another new recipe, butternut squash pasta casserole. It'll be a late night!
Dang! If I had been there, I woulda sung along too! :teeth:
I'm doing the artichoke lasagna next week, so this mac and cheese sounds yummy!!!
:hug: and thinking of you tonight.
Wow Brandi! That isn't good! Glad you're ok! :)'
Congratulations to your friend!
Mmmmmm, taco salad.
I have one more group of kids in the morning and then I'm done till next year!!! :cool1:
Work was good. But, I am tired. 2 more days till vacation!!!
It is cool and rainy here...it's been raining all day long! :headache: Tomorrow it's supposed to do the same, but with cold weather.
Tonight's dinner was spicy shrimp over pasta. It was yummy! I'll post the recipe later, but I didn't take a picture.
Hope everyone has a great end to their week!!!
This was dinner...(sorry no pics)
Spicy Shrimp Orecchiette
Ingredients:
12 oz. orecchiette pasta (I couldn't find it, so I used tiny shells and it came out fine)
2 T extra virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling
1 small bulb fennel chopped, plus 1 T chopped fennel fronds
2 cloves garlic, chopped
2 T tomato paste
1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes
1 large tomato, chopped
1/2 lb. medium shrimp, peeled, deveined and roughly chopped
1/2 cup grated parmesan
1 cup torn fresh basil (didn't have, so I used 1/2 T dried)
Cook pasta according to directions. Reserve 1 1/2 cups cooking liquid.
Meanwhile, heat 2 T olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chopped fennel bulb and 1/2 tsp. salt and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden brown, 6-8 minutes. Reduce heat to medium and add the garlic, tomato paste and red pepper flakes. Cook, stirring, 2 more minutes (add a splash of waterif the mixture is sticking). Stir in the tomato, shrimp, 1/2 tsp. salt and 1 cup of the reserved cooking water. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes are sauce, about 6-8 more mins.
Add the cooked pasta and cheese to the sauce and toss to coat. Drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and add more of the reserved pasta water to loosen, if necessary. Stir in the basil leaves and fennel fronds and serve.
***The only thing I did differently than above was I added the dry basil in when I added the shrimp. This was yummy, light and full of flavor!
Funny though the first thing he asked is "could you be pregnant" ummmm NO!!!!!!!!! I can't be....
this may be tmi, but my DH is fixed....:rolleyes1
That's funny, early on in our relationship I went to the Doc for something and he asked if I could be pregnant and she chimed in, "No way, I'm fixed!". :lmao:
I'm glad you're OK though.
At least they're not Green! :rolleyes1
I'll have to try these!
It's not easy being Green.
Oh no you di'int. :sad2:
:lmao:
FINE people! I am going to start taking real pictures with a real camera. UncleR...do you hear me? :lmao:
Why? Is the camera Green?
the picture i took was with my phone...:rolleyes1
Was this whilst you were feeling Green?
I'm going to go eat lots of cookies now.
I made the mystery cookies tonight.....
DH really liked them...:yay:
Are either of the cookies Green?
:rolleyes1
I finally figured out DH's Christmas present today. :cool1:
And it was so unexpected! I walked into a houseware gift shop today...just down the road from where I live and when I was walking past the counter, the owner was talking to one of his workers. He was showing her and telling her about the great deal that he found on some glass teapots. The teapot normally retails at $50....and the supplier had some 'spare' replacement glass inserts they were trying to get rid of. The replacement glass normally retails at $20.
So the owner negotiated a deal....both the teapot and the insert....for $20. The teapot is a 1 litre size. I nabbed me a set straightaway!
DH has been drinking a bit of herbal tea lately and whilst we do have teapots, they are hard to clean. So, he doesn't bother. This glass teapot has straight sides, dishwasher proof and has its separate mesh tea basket that can be taken out for easy cleaning as well.
In addition, I went to a teashop....got some herbal tea and a single spoon tea strainer as well.
I also walked into the men's clothing store down that strip of shops. They were having sales on summer hats and I found one in the size and style that DH likes. It was also under $25.
So, I'm done for DH. Everything is wrapped and under the tree.
Also got me some Top Gear stuff for DS's friend....he's car crazy. And got a little gift for the Kris Kringle.
I guess I can officially say that my Christmas presents are all DONE! :banana:
Lindsay - Glad you got your card. It took less time to arrive than I thought!
Jen - Kris Kringle is a gift exchange. I guess you might call it Secret Santa? The kids all pulled names out of a hat....and didn't tell who they got. They have to get a gift to the value of $5, wrap it and bring it to school with the recipient's name on it. On the pre-determined day, the teacher gets to hand out the stash. Everyone gets a gift but doesn't know who it's come from.
Enjoy your last couple of days. It's Friday here tomorrow....so I'll be thinking of you.
Glynis - I'm thinking that the snow is late this year??? How has your Christmas candy worked out? It all sounded lovely.
Nancy - your Christmas menu sounds great.
Robin - Thanks for the vote of confidence on the rumballs. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea. So, I'm going to try and find some time this weekend to make a batch. Hope your dog gets better.
Ellen - You're getting the best Christmas present with baby Liam coming home! :yay:
Aimee - Sorry about your flat tyre. Hope it's properly fixed! Did you like the Muppets?
Your hairdressing took me back to my childhood. My mum used to go to the hairdresser 3 times a week when we lived in Asia. Times were simpler then and hairdressing was cheap. She used to go and have a wash and set....I don't think I ever remember seeing my mother wash her own hair until we moved to Australia!
Emily - Good news about your best friend. I hope she has an easy pregnancy and delivery.
Alison - I'm not ignoring you...it's just that we seem to catch up on other threads that sometimes I forget to say hello to you on this!!
***********************************
WFDT? We ended up with sushi and okonomiyaki for dinner. We also made a big bowl of salad with the lettuce from the garden. I think I ate more salad than anything else. I'm determined to be good with my food intake....I've gained enough weight this year and want to lose the unwanted kilos!
Tomorrow is a work day...so I'll probably be catching up on your news during night shift again. Have a good day all.
Oooh...I just realised that I didn't share my breakfast food porn from the weekend with 3D friends. Some of you may have already seen this as I've been using it to entice the Tag Fairy on another thread. :laughing:
