Good Thanksgiving Morning Dear Friends!

First, thank you all for the thoughts and prayers for Donny. I know this is treatable but I was so angry that the Dr's he was seeing were not worried enough to get him in and help with meds.

I want to wish all of you a happy Thanksgiving Day. I am truly grateful for all of you. I work outside of the house but not too many hours and usually by myself. If not for all of you I would really feel as though I am alone more than not but with all of you I always have friends to turn to. Thank you all!

Glynis- thank you so much for the pie recipe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I made it this morning and hope I did not over bake it. It smells delicious and i have to confess I was licking that bowl before it went into the dishwasher ;)

PIO I hope that today brings better health for your son :sick:

Becky- Holy Turkey Run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dance3:

That "crack" is going on my Christmas list!

Dinner today is appetizers which I farmed out to anyone who wants to bring something. Marisa is making something called Mississippi Sin and deviled eggs, Janice is making sweet and sour kielbasa

Anna is bringing homemade rolls and Dan...yes Dan once again...........is bringing his potato rolls.

Turkey and gravy
sausage and apple stuffing
plain old run of the mill doctored up Stove Top stuffing (For Dan)
mashed potatoes
sweet potato gratin
roasted broccoli
green bean casserole
mashed turnips and carrots
cranberry apple sauce

Desserts that I made

Almost apple pie
Nantucket cranberry pie
pumpkin pie
pecan pie
chocolate cream pie

I have my own wines I am serving as well

Janice is bringing something sweet as well

And next week back to dieting :scared1:

Hi Everyone,

I can't believe it's been so long since I checked in over here! I hope everyone who celebrates it is having a Happy Turkey Day!

Jen and Glynis - enjoy your father's

Becky - what a turkey nightmare

Nancy - I sure hope that Donny finds some relief.

PIO - I hope your son is feeling better

Brandi - Your turkey looks great! I'm just about to put mine in the oven

Sorry for anyone I am leaving out, I hope you are enjoying your families and having a great day.

The first wrench was thrown into our plans for the weekend, when the Dungeness Crab fishermen never reached an agreement with the wholesalers and thus refuse to go out fishing. So we had to with our back up plan which was Pork Tenderloin in Asian marinade, rice and Asian style veggies.

How were the carnitas?

Awesome! :thumbsup2

Ladies, I need to ask for prayers once again. My DDIL called to tell me that Donny had another seizure at work and was in the ER. This time the care was 100% better than the last time but I had to tell Anna that at the risk of stepping on their toes, this was not going to happen again. I sicced Marisa on the Dr's and she was able to get him a referral to a new neurologist and he will be seen on Monday. He had not been able to get into the group where he had been seen before until Dec 30th! The Dr in the ER scheduled an MRI along with a multitude of blood tests, all which came back clean. Good news I guess but what do you treat? he said that he would nto start any anti seizure meds under these circumstances because tehy would probably be changed once he got into the specialist

I will be back later to chat but I am going to have a glass of wine for now.

Oh man, I'm so sorry. We have a few friends that have had issues with seizures recently and it's scary business.

I just wanted to say to all of you "Thank You" for being my friends. I cherish each one of you and consider y'all my family. Hoping everyone has a blessed day with your loved ones.:grouphug:

You too, Kat! :hug:

Thought I'd pop in 'n wish y'all a happy thanksgivin', thanks for all the fabulous recipes 'n wonderful friendship you've extended us. :goodvibes

Happy Thanksgiving to you! :hug:

Happy, happy Thanksgiving to all of you wonderful ladies.

We are truly very lucky to have become friends with all of you.

This thread isn't about recipes and cooking at all...it's about friendship. And all of you feed much more than our tummies...

May you all have a wonderful holiday with your loved ones. And LOTS of good food!

Happy Thanksgiving! :hug:

DH and I are spending a few days at a resort - it's beautiful although a bit remote. It's, um, 55 miles to the closest Starbucks... :rolleyes1

Tonight we went into "town" (if you call it that!) and saw a movie - hilarious experience. It was really unlike any movie theater I've been to, but the movie quality/sound was good so no complaints!

We had a Whataburger burger for lunch on the way and ate at the resort restaurant tonight. We're so traditional :laughing:

Howdy, everyone!!!

Yesterday was a success! Here are some pictures:

The table (no room for the casserole on the table so I left it by the stove, pics below):

French Toast Casserole- it was sooooooooooo good!

No bad, eh? I will come back and post the recipe later.

I'm not sure what our plans are today but I know we are having leftovers. Sorry to rush off. Everyone have a great day!

Marisa has the recipe but it is a hollowed out Pumpernickel round bread stuffed with a cheese and something mixture and then baked. It is delicious!

ETA the Nantucket cranberry pie is wicked tart. Kind of like a cranberry pecan relish topped with a cookieish crust. If I make it again i would not use filling recipe. I would use the recipe for the cranberry cherry pie and top it with the crust.

They are always close to my heart and in my prayers. Without them :confused3

Beautiful food!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to ma lassies ower the water !!

Sending you Happy Wishes as well dear friend!

:

I hope that you are having fun! But...........you know that you cannot leave us hanging on the theater!!!!!!!!

Lindsay- your table looks lovely!

Dinner went well yesterday. I have to say that while all the food was good the desserts were stellar!

Glynis- that pecan pie has only one sliver left!

The almost apple pie was excellent and easy so I would recommend it to anyone who loves a buttery apple pie like dessert.

For the pumpkin pie I followed the Libby's recipe but added 1/2 of a brick of cream cheese. It was not enough to make it resemble a pumpkin cheesecake-like dessert but it added something very good to the filling.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is our last day with my dad here. I take him back to the airport bright and early tomorrow.
We're going to relax and shop online today. :teeth:
Dinner will be leftovers.
Hope you all enjoy the weekend!
:hug:
WFD - Leftovers of course......
David and I have a tradition of going out on Black friday, but around 2pm...We go to Target and Sams.
We mostly just walk around the store, it gets us out of the house and starts us moving again so we don't sleep too much.....:rotfl:
We usually go by the DVD section and pick up some old movies for $3.00 and come home...
I did not think it sounded sad until I typed it, but it is something we do together...:rotfl2:
