Good afternoon! :)

I woke up with a cold yesterday morning and today I'm barely making it thru! I had to help today with the church pageant, and I have never had my patience wear down as this as this was. These kids were out of control! I'm ready for this pageant to be done! They will perform it next week.

My tooth is a still somewhat of a bother. But I feel much better even on the antibiotics. Tomorrow is the day!

WFD: Leftovers/whatever you can find - I will be having applesauce and mac n cheese. Something easy to get down.

Today is the day... Hope you are feeling much better.

Lindsay, glad it went well!

Jen, that corn recipe is just like Paula Deen's corn casserole. Always a hit at holiday potlucks and super easy!

Vic, I want pictures of your baking magic today!

I'm not planning to do any holiday baking but I am infusing a bunch of vodka :laughing: I also have gummi bears soaking in vodka :woohoo:

Tonight we're getting Sonic - I have coupons about to expire.

Hi all!!

I am so sorry I have seemed to have fallen off of the face of the earth. I am here but so totally swamped. I will be on real soon with a proper update but for now - Baby Liam is doing super - still in the NICU but hopefully will be home by the weekend.

Love and hugs to you all!!

Ellen, so glad that baby Liam is doing well, see you soon..

So does anyone here follow the Next Iron Chef! OMG on the outcome tonight! I had wanted Robert Irvine, then Anne Burrell, tonight I wanted everyone to win! I don't know who to root for!

Only one of the ones I wanted to see make it did, another one was the one who was eliminated last night. I had hoped Robert would make it, he has the most experience with cooking like that.

If we all pull together and cross fingers,toes ,arms, legs and eyes I might ,just might, have something " cookery* " to report !!

* Probly more bakery but I get confused.

:eek:

Went and had a bone density test today. I take Prilosec and the Dr. said it can cause bone issues. On the way there a man pulled up beside me at a light and told me that my tire was almost flat. :eek: After my appointment I went to try and put air in it and the cap wouldn't come off so I headed to my service place and right after I got there the tire went completely flat. :headache: Unfortunately the tire was torn up so no easy fix, had to buy two new front tires.

Root Canal this morning. I do feel better. I'm a little swollen, and my gum is irritated, but I am SO GLAD I have it behind me. It feels awesome!

Not sure what is for dinner tonight. Maybe soup.

Morning, everyone! I woke up when Alan left for work, and wasn't able to go back to sleep. Grrr! I'll pay for that later today!

I need some help with figuring out dinner. I got 4 avocados in my basket on Saturday, and need some help using them up. Tell me, aside from guacamole, what is your favorite dish that uses avocados?

Today will consist of grocery shopping, a little present wrapping, and a whole lot of laundry! Have a great day everyone!

I'm sorry, I just can't get past guacamole. :lmao:

Not really. We make an avocado, tomato, and red onion salad. Salt all the ingredients, add italian dressing and eat. I swear it's yummy!

Root Beer Float Cookies!!

Mornin', ladies. :wave:

:lmao:

Thank you, thank you, thank you 'n I'm sure I will! :worship:

What will ya' gimme if I make 'em? :lovestruc :lmao:

Glynis...she is LOOOOOVIN' your cookies!

It's raining, how did Lindsay put it? Canines and felines? :lmao: For those of you who live in places with weather you don't realize the havoc it creates in So Cal. Our sewer systems can't handle it nor can the drivers. It's sheer pandemonium;

I think that lasagna soup will be perfect tonight;

So help me out... What to do with the rest of the ricotta?

Manicotti? Lasagna roll-ups? Eat it plain? :lmao:

I'm not planning to do any holiday baking but I am infusing a bunch of vodka :laughing: I also have gummi bears soaking in vodka :woohoo:

Tonight we're getting Sonic - I have coupons about to expire.

UncleR texted me at work and told me y'all were having Sonic because of your expiring coupons. She then suggested/hinted/strongly persuaded me to use our Subway coupons for our dinner. :lmao:

:hug: We miss you, Ellen!

Come update us when you can!

Oy. Glad you got it taken care of, though. :hug:

:hug: You'll feel so much better in a few days!! Did you have to get a crown?

No pictures , sorry.

I did have to adjust the US/UK measurements and heat settings :eek: and youse would say " slightly burnt " but me and the boy went for Florida sunkissed !!

:lmao:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Work is over. Thank goodness! We made cookie rudolphs all day long, back to back in groups from 8-3. I don't want to see anymore rudolphs, but I have to do it all over again tomorrow. :lmao:
Then, I went grocery shopping. We are pretty much set for the next 3 weeks except for incidentals and some Christmas dinner goodies.
Then, I drove home and went to Subway because we had coupons...thanks Aimee! :teeth:
Then, I went to the post office. Was walking up to the door and the lady shook her finger, "no", at me and then locked the door in my face. It was only 4:30 so I thought there must be some mistake. Then, I looked at the door and it said they close at 4:30. What kind of post office closes at 4:30? People don't even usually get off of work till 5. :headache: Small town...:rotfl2:
4 more days till vacation! I need it! :cool1:
Kat OOOh gummi bear vodka:lovestruc you get a couple of serving of fruit too;)
Jen The post office here doesn't close that early but they are johnny on the stop about locking those doors, but you mail comes whenever:rolleyes1
Brandy I hope I didn't add to your stress. I am a bad patient I hate being sick and out of control.
WFD is leftover chili
Gummy bear vodka - that is a sin!
No crown. It was a front tooth. I'm actually eating better than I thought I would be at this point. Having no pain is the best feeling in the world!
Good! So you're done!!!
It's amazing isn't it. Once you go from lots of pain to no pain, it's like you didn't realize how bad it was until it was gone!
Yep! My DH brought home an amazing chocolate shake. Its just what the doctor ordered. ;)
Nancy & Becky - I hope I didn't post any spoilers on NIC, but I am so far happy! The problem is that I liked all the chefs on there so seeing almost any of gem go was hard!
Glynis - The cookie recipes sound good, I would like to try the snickerdoodles, but it's been so long since I baked anything. Shortening, is that the stuff we used to use to grease pans before the spray stuff? :confused3 No clue on the avocados, I'll eat guacamole, but I even pull them out of my sushi.
Lindsay - what an impressive choir! You go girl!
Jen - Hang in there you're almost done!
Yup. That's the stuff. Crisco has even started making it in sticks, like butter, so it's much easier to measure!
I hope he makes it home this weekend!
Augh, I guess you're getting new tires for XMas?
Aimee- Christmas and my birthday. :headache: Actually it wasn't too bad, only $330 which is about $100 cheaper than my old van. I have money in savings to cover it. :thumbsup2
Thank you for listening to my complain about the surgery.... I can't vent at the house, because David would be wound up even tighter, so you guys are my Happy Place.... I hope you don't mind...
David has a smart phone that he plays with so, that should work, but I really don't think I have anyone that might drop by... All our friends will be working and I hate to ask them :confused3
I am sure he will be fine... after they let him know I am in the recovery room.
I know what you mean. When we had to cancel our trip to WDW, I couldn't lament around the house because it caused stress and friction. DIS friends are awesome for venting! Whatever you need we're here!
I'm not planning to do any holiday baking but I am infusing a bunch of vodka :laughing: I also have gummi bears soaking in vodka :woohoo:
Tonight we're getting Sonic - I have coupons about to expire.
Wow! Gummi Bears in Vodka, let us know how those work out! I wish we had Sonic in our area. I love tater tots!
Hi all!!
I am so sorry I have seemed to have fallen off of the face of the earth. I am here but so totally swamped. I will be on real soon with a proper update but for now - Baby Liam is doing super - still in the NICU but hopefully will be home by the weekend.
Love and hugs to you all!!
It's totally understandable with your situation. I hope baby Liam is well enough to come home this weekend.
Only one of the ones I wanted to see make it did, another one was the one who was eliminated last night. I had hoped Robert would make it, he has the most experience with cooking like that.
Went and had a bone density test today. I take Prilosec and the Dr. said it can cause bone issues. Neither of the remaining two were my initial favorites, but through the competition, they grew on me with their inventive dishes and interesting perspectives. I will be happy to see either win, but each for different reasons.
Sorry you had the problem with your tires, but at least you got it fixed.
Root Canal this morning. I do feel better. I'm a little swollen, and my gum is irritated, but I am SO GLAD I have it behind me. It feels awesome!
Not sure what is for dinner tonight. Maybe soup.
I'm glad that you feel better. I hate tooth pain.
Manicotti? Lasagna roll-ups? Eat it plain? :lmao:
4 more days till vacation! I need it! :cool1:
I have Manicotti in the freezer from a couple weeks ago. I decided to make a ricotta, spinach and mushroom stuffed turkey breast on Saturday when our friend Arline comes down. But I just discovered that finding the turkey breast might be the biggest of my problems.
You'll make it to vacation, just hang in there!
Yep! My DH brought home an amazing chocolate shake. Its just what the doctor ordered. ;)
What a sweetheart!
Yup. That's the stuff. Crisco has even started making it in sticks, like butter, so it's much easier to measure!
OK, maybe I'll try making some, we have some issues going on here not really suitable for DIS discussion, but if those are resolved I'll try them!
Usnuz - I'm looking for my waist line. I should really stop hanging around this thread.
Lindsay - awesome clip of the drummer boy and the choir. Hope you thought it went well as well.
Jen - Hope your Monday went great! Do you start vacay at the end of the week or now? Are you and UncleRemus going away? Not long now.
Nancy - Did the mantle man come and fix it?
Glynis - My favourite dish for avocados is eating it straight from the skin..I add salt, pepper and a little squeeze of lemon or line. Otherwise, I scoop it out of the skin and eat it on rye toast. Hope your day went okay; despite the early morning wake-up. And keep posting cookie recipes! :thumbsup2
Root Beer Float Cookies!! :woohoo:
Mornin', ladies. :wave:
Nice to see you pop in for a visit! :wave2:
Alison - I like making ricotta cheese cake.....:lovestruc. Hope your issues get resolved.
Brandi - thinking of you; all day today. Hope you're fine.
Aimee - loving the thought of your bummi vear godka (*hic*). :rolleyes1
Ellen! Nice to see you posting. Hope you're having fun with Baby Liam and that Liam's parents are also going well.
Marilyn - Aside from the tyre issues (and sorry about the cost before Christmas), how did the bone density test go? (Is it your birthday soon?)
Emily - YAY for having the root canal done. Is it only the one treatment....or do you need to go back for the proper 'filling' in a week or so?
Vickie - You cooked!!! :dance3:
*****************************
Well...it's Tuesday night over here and I'm catching up on everyone's news. And I'm exhausted. I'm still thinking about food and am a little concerned that I've gone a little bit 'light' on the gifts this year. Anyone else have that feeling that they need to have extras as just in case?
This year, I'm determined that I don't need to spend anymore money and buy more stuff. I really don't want to spend anymore time in the malls.
So......I'm on the hunt for a killer Rum Ball recipe. Anyone have one that they'd like to share? I'm thinking that I could make some next week and parcel them up on Christmas Eve for just in case gifts. If I make them next week, then I won't be tempted to eat them (see above comment about waist line). :laughing:
Keep well all....it's 12 days TIL Christmas.
princess::upsidedow
Dinnae get too excited, I involves a packet , an egg and some milk....oh and lots of love fae the boys NJ pal Lauren. :)
Now how could I not be excited??????? :rotfl:
Nancy & Becky - I hope I didn't post any spoilers on NIC, but I am so far happy! The problem is that I liked all the chefs on there so seeing almost any of gem go was hard!
Not to worry! I had not seen it yet so you just made me want to get to the DVR fast :thumbsup2 I am happy because I cannot stand the one eliminated. I :cloud::love::cloud9: Robert Irvine and he would have been the incentive to watch Iron Chef.
Thank you for listening to my complain about the surgery.... I can't vent at the house, because David would be wound up even tighter, so you guys are my Happy Place.... I hope you don't mind...
David has a smart phone that he plays with so, that should work, but I really don't think I have anyone that might drop by... All our friends will be working and I hate to ask them
Oh vent away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least you are venting about how to keep DH calm. I generally vent about how to make my poor DH :dance3: I would ask a friend to call David just so that he has someone to talk to.
I'm not planning to do any holiday baking but I am infusing a bunch of vodka :laughing: I also have gummi bears soaking in vodka :woohoo:
.[/QUOTE
What kinds of vodka are you making? and tell me about this gummi bear vodka Hmmmmmmmm?????????? I have to make some Holiday cordial things and this sounds interesting. I bought pretty cordial glasses and will include hem with my Bailey's drink
Hi all!!
I am so sorry I have seemed to have fallen off of the face of the earth. I am here but so totally swamped. I will be on real soon with a proper update but for now - Baby Liam is doing super - still in the NICU but hopefully will be home by the weekend.
Love and hugs to you all!!
Oh Sweetie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No worries! i am glad our little Liam is doing well. How are the girls?
Only one of the ones I wanted to see make it did, another one was the one who was eliminated last night. I had hoped Robert would make it, he has the most experience with cooking like that.
Unfortunately the tire was torn up so no easy fix, had to buy two new front tires.
I was sad too! I know the tasks are really designed for the TV show but I really can see Chef Irvine cleaning uop in that kitchen!
I feel your tire pain! We had taken the car to have the tires rotated or something like that adn ended up walking out with 4 new ones :headache:Talk about a budget buster!
Root Canal this morning. I do feel better. I'm a little swollen, and my gum is irritated, but I am SO GLAD I have it behind me. It feels awesome!
Not sure what is for dinner tonight. Maybe soup.
I bet the milk shake was better than soup :thumbsup2 Glad you are now pain free!
No pictures , sorry.
Lauren sent the boy ( yer a wee star L :thumbsup2 ) corn bread mix and Im afraid it never lasted long enough !! :laughing:
:rotfl2::thumbsup2
Work is over. Thank goodness! We made cookie rudolphs all day long, back to back in groups from 8-3. I don't want to see anymore rudolphs, but I have to do it all over again tomorrow. :lmao:
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Reindeer Time!!!!!!!!!!!! I am just making my klist for the Holiday food, never mind shopping for all of the food. ''Our little post office is closed for two hours every afternoon. I always manage to forget adn get there an hour before they reopen :) I know the little post office is on teh to be closed list though :sad1:
OK, maybe I'll try making some, we have some issues going on here not really suitable for DIS discussion, but if those are resolved I'll try them!
Usnuz - I'm looking for my waist line. I should really stop hanging around this thread.
My waist line is long gone lately :confused3 Where did it go?????
I am not concerned at all about cutting back on gifts. I used to spend a lot and the tree was buried under the presents. No more. I hate shopping, i hate wrapping and I was always crabby as we got closer to Christmas. Now i get everyone a nice gift, focus on the little ones and am relatively stress free. Of course you have a youngster home so that makes a difference but remember that the best gift you can share is yourself. Enjoy the rest of the season!!!!!!!!!!!
Last night dinner was so good. I have not made spaghetti sauce in a long time so we really enjoyed dinner. I made those mayo rolls posted earlier and loved them They reminded me of a really good biscuit and they had such a nice crust. I used my stoneware muffin pan.
My neighbor buried her Dad yesterday so I sent dinner over to her house along with a bottle of wine I finished yesterday. I think it is going to be a good one, they need time to mature int eh bottle but I shared what did not fill a bottle with the mantle guy and it was already very good.
The mantle looks much better now. The carpenter is coming this morning to remove the stand that is supporting it and add the things to cover the bolts. I have to tell you that the man who gave Buddy this old beam burned the entire old shed :scared1:. These old beams are all hand chiseled chestnut and IMO are priceless.
Dinner is roasted turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, haricot verts and carrots. we will have some of the blueberry poie I made last night, It was not that good :confused3
I am hopeful today is a better day than yesterday. It seemed I had every goofy person on the phone asking the dumbest questions. I had thought at first someone was playing a really bad joke. The topper was 1 person called for the status of a check I told him we received it and it would be put in the mail for the morning pickup. He called not 5 minutes later and asked what was I putting in the mail? Really?
I need to wrap up the gifts I have to make sure I really am on track. I don't want to run out of paper or not have THE gift under the tree.
Not sure yet about dinner I need to ck out some ideas on Pinterest. Thank Aimee and Jen for feeding my addiction to the computer and stuff of all kinds. This way I can hoard things without messing up my house.:rotfl2:
So far we are having the most mild winter. Yesterday it was in the middle 40's. The same is on tap for today and 50's for the next couple. Don't get me wrong I am liking not having to scrap off the car and shovel. But lets get this stuff out of the way so summer can come back. Spring, summer and early fall are my favorite seasons.
