I didn't like cilantro either. I think it was mostly because I bought it by mistake thinking it was parsley. I thought something was really wrong with the parsely. Now I like it as long as people remember it has a strong personality.

I can't put my finger on what I don't like, the texture, the flavor, well probably both! :laughing:

Good morning y'all!

Tooter woke us up after we went to bed really late because the food bowl wasn't dispensing food. :headache: She was ticked, and she was going to let us know it!!! :sad2:

I needed to get up anyways, I guess. :lmao:

Doesn't it crack you up how our pets dictate our lives sometimes! :rotfl:

I was "allowed" to sleep as long as I wanted this morning, and I was up at 7:15.... This is so wrong....:headache:

And you don't even have a cat to wake you up! :confused3 Nice food porn! You two eat a lot of venison. Do you have to shop in specialty markets to find that. Our grocery store carries ground buffalo, but that's about the most unique besides, beef, chicken, pork and turkey. Sometimes the smaller market close to us doesn't even stock lamb. :eek:

What up with the DB bags in your sig? I noticed you added a ticker for your BCV trip, but I can't see you TR links any more. You and PIO both need to smaller up some of those images!

Nancy - So sorry for all the drama going on. It's sad when people don't communicate, or even worse, figure they're right and don't try to. At least you worked something out with this poor man who is caught in the middle.

So you're planning a trip for October now? That's right about the time to start making reservations at a home resort. :rolleyes1

And in other news...I am wiped! We worked around the house a lot today and got lots done for when my dad comes. Plus, this week is going to be a beast! Tomorrow I have to go shopping after work. (We don't have a normal sized or good grocery here in town, so I go in the town where I work) And we'll be running around like mad over the next week before our company arrives. I'm tired just thinking about it.

Hope everyone goes into Monday on a good note!

Take care of yourself! You don't want to be sick when your company arrives.

We're back home again. We had a fabulous dinner last night. I'm uploading the pictures to Photobucket. About halfway done, and I'm going to post them on my PTR. The bad news is that on our way out of the park (Fran thinks it was too many glasses of wine, I think it was gravity), my phone fell out of my purse (which was riding on the floorboards of her scooter). We checked later and it wasn't turned into Lost & Found. I did deactivate it, and hopefully it will turn up. :sad2:

Morning came way to early and I felt a little queasy (probably from such a rich dinner). Fran rushed me out of the room thinking that we were way way late. We were an hour early, so she slept and I lurked on the DIS with her phone. It was hectic getting things together, but Disney allows us to designate 1 person for every 10 performers to be a "chaperone". One lady (whose husband ended up being sick, but she still came, bless her heart) was Fran's "handler". She helped her carry things, get to her seat on stage, get back to her scooter. She was such a doll!

The performance went great. I took video of it so I will be anxious to download the videos and send them to YouTube.

WFD? No clue. Probably one of those make it in the skillet bags that you just open up and cook for 10 minutes. I'm tired too!

Very sweet of the woman to come and help you even without her hubby!

You rest after your long weekend too!

Nancy - So sorry about the drama that Buddy is going through. No one needs that kind of stress nor abuse!

Alison - Glad you and Fran are home safe. I'm really pleased that Fran made it through the weekend...and hope that this is the turning point for her getting 'back to normal'. Enjoy your dinner and I'll catch up with the food porn on your PTR.

WFDT? I think I'm going to cook some crepes and roll some ricotta/spinach through it; pour some tomato sauce over it and bake it in the oven. If I keep the hard cheese to a minimum over one side, DH will be happy and if I have melted cheese over the other side, DS will be happy. Sounds like I'll be happy too! :laughing:

Glynis- for pie night, what do we need to do besides have pie? I want a neighbor night pie night but I am not sure if I make dinner or a light dinner or what. I am thinking of visiting Debbie until the Monday before T day so it would need to be on Tuesday night. Dan and Jeff won't make it and Brian will be working...(he is not a sweet eater the Heathen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) but I think the rest of us can be here.

We don't do anything else! We tell people to eat their dinner before they come, because it's strictly dessert! We put out lots of water and soda and milk to drink. As people come, we line the pies up on the counter and cut them into tiny slices. Once all the cutting is done, we let people help themselves! In our family the rule is Great Grandma and Great Grandpa get first pick, then any Grandparents, then Parents, and kids are last. Teaches them patience! It doesn't seem to matter, though, since there's always enough pie to go around!

I hope you have fun with your pie night! My cousin will be thrilled to know you are holding one!

Nancy - I'm so sorry for what Buddy is having to deal with! I certainly hope it can all get worked out for the best.

Jen - How was the "hamburger helper?"

I guess I have to hang my head in shame, too, as I can't stand cilantro. It physically makes me sick to my stomach. I may try those carnitas, anyway!

We had a family gathering this afternoon for lunch. We had chili, pulled pork sandwiches, salad and cheesecake bites for dessert. I made some cornbread to go with the chili. I ended up using the recipe on the side of the box to make it from scratch, and it turned out really well! Nice and moist. However, the winner was the pumpkin corn bread that I made. I got the recipe from Plain Chicken, and it was heavenly! Very moist, and had a kind of sweet flavor to it. It complemented the chili quite well!

We ate so much at lunch, that I don't know what we'll do for dinner. Maybe some soup, or just popcorn while we watch Once Upon A Time! We'll see what the troops think.

WFD steak, potatoes, brussel sprouts.

We have a friend that hunts, and kills the deer and we pay for processing, so we get a whole deer for $75... Can't beat it, and season just opened up and we are cleaning out the freezer to make room for the this years kill.

What up with the DB bags in your sig?
They are mine, i joked that I had to have the dooney and bourke purse because they are d&b and we are David and Brandi so D&B has to have a D&B purse....

I noticed you added a ticker for your BCV trip, but I can't see you TR links any more. You and PIO both need to smaller up some of those images!
ok I took the trip counter out...everything should be back except I have added the purses...

I am glad everything went well and that everyone helped out... now you are back at home... Have another glass of wine and relax...

The hamburger helper was very yummy! Had a little bit of spicy in it...so it was perfect!

And I added the cilantro to the carnitas myself. It's just how I like mine. But, you absolutely don't need it in the recipe! The carnitas are good enough to eat plain! :goodvibes

She barely made it through, so she'll be down for the count the next couple days. Thank God there's not rehearsal Tuesday night! This sounds really good. I wish I had ricotta, but if I still had mine, I wouldn't need to add spinach for the green flecks! :rotfl:

Pie night sounds so fun...someday our house will be clean enough for someone other than my parents to see it!

Wow! That's kind of nice, but Fran would never go for that. She can't even go to a restaurant where they have live lobsters in a tank, cause she doesn't want to be the cause of killing something. If it's meat already she's OK. She's kind of weird like that. :confused3

You have a lot of those purses! I only have the one!

I can see all the links, maybe you should get one of those sort of circular tickers, they take up less room. I would have had to have the first to have another, but since I started this reply, I've been back to the kitchen a few times for more glasses. :thumbsup2

We figure diinner tonight will be hodge podge. From yesterdays rehearsal we took home a bowl of salad that must have been about 5-7 lbs of pizza place salad. You know the kind where whats in the salad is all stuff they put on pizzas, tomatoes, mushrooms, green pepper and olives over a ton of lettuce.

I picked out some of the olives for her to eat as an appetizer. I also picked out some sliced mushroom to use in my dinner. She wants from the leftover Thai, some cream cheese wontons, mee grob and pad see ew. I'm going to make Llinguini in Clam sauce because PIO got me all interested in pasta! :lmao: This time I have mushrooms and zucchini, so it will be a one dish meal. Maybe I'll make a little bowl from the HUGE salad to go with it.

Two of my dinners from the last couple of days...

DS and I shared the chicken Involtini (from the market) and had a chicken sausage (from the same shop) each. DH was left to fend for himself...he had told me that he "wasn't hungry", so I decided it was time for Festival a la Pollo.

Morning, everyone! :coffee: I am home and trying to get back in the rhythm of things. You know I told you guys that we got a new car back in the summer and that we had hand controls put on them? Well, they were such a blessing on this trip! We always split the drive between here and Florida by spending the night in Valdosta. Between Orlando and Valdosta on Saturday, then Valdosta and home yesterday, I drove the whole way! :drive: Needless to say, I conked out last night. It really helped out Scott, you know. He was used to driving the whole way. I did drink 3 large McDonald's coffees along the way though :blush:

I'm going to try to get the index updated today, so bear with me. Sorry I didn't do it while on vacation. We obviously took the laptop but we didn't pack a mouse and for the life of me, I can't highlight, copy and paste well just with a mousepad thingy. So sorry it's a bit behind ;)

I have no idea WFD tonight. We are heading to the grocery story later and I will pick up something to cook there. I'm thinking about chicken or beef with broccoli stir-fry. Whenever I get home from vacation, I like to have something semi-healthy and/or with a lot of veggies.

I'm off to go catch up on reading. More on our trip later. Have a good one!

Welcome home Lindsay. Glad that the new car has worked out well for you and Scott. You must really love it and be comfortable in it to drive 3 whole days by yourself. :hug:

Looking forward to finding out more about your trip... popcorn:: .... I'm not on FB so I kinda feel like I'm missing out on the pictures and some of the news of everyone on this thread.

Now...on to the important stuff...spill the details! Where'd ya' eat? What'd ya' do? :lmao:

And don't worry about the index. You were in Disney, dahling...:teeth:

And PIO...those crepes look positively divine!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's Monday. I have a very busy week and I'm already tired from this weekend and it's just going to get worse.
But...5 more work days till Thanksgiving break!!! :woohoo:
Tonight's dinner is chicken piccata...this one is a prepared version from Sam's. I don't know if y'all remember me posting a picture of UncleR's chicken piccata...she includes tomatoes and artichoke hearts. The reason she does that is that she once had this version from Sam's that had those ingredients in it. Well, when we were at Sam's the other day, we found the original version, so I wanted to taste it. Tonight's the night! We're also having PW's olive loaf. :lovestruc
Hope everyone has a great start to their week!
Welcome home Lindsay.... It was vacation, and I am glad that you took off from the boards too, the index can wait, take your time and catch up on your rest!
Have a great day back.
Everything looks great, I love fresh greens from the garden...:hug:
Lauren – WooHoo! Now you get to start planning for an April trip!
Nan – I love October in WDW for the obvious reason – food & wine, BUT I have been telling Johnny that I really miss seeing the Christmas decorations and I need to figure out a way to get at least a long weekend in next year during the holidays!:cloud9:
Alison – Glad y’all had a great dinner, but sorry about the phone. How sweet of that lady to help!!
Lindsay – Welcome back!
WFD - It's Monday...red beans & rice, green onion sausages and a salad.
Good morning all. Wow, you all are real Chatty Cathy's!!
Jen ~ I will be sure and wave at Mom while in Alb. We have family there so we have a wonderful time. We switch every year - next year they will come to Nebraska.
Janice ~ Bazzinga......I also love they boys. I swear that was my all time favorite episode. I laughed till I was crying. Well heck each week I die laughing at them.
So glad Hershey is feeling better.
Nan ~ AGAIN - you and I are so alike. Before I could do anything you beat me to it - Bazzinga!!
I am so sorry that Bud is having a time with his coworker. That is just so wrong on so many levels. :hug: are with you both.
Kat ~ Kathy Louise - love it!!!!
Linday ~ Welcome Home!! I can't wait to hear all about it.
Glynis ~ I am taking both the Eggnog Pumpkin and Derby pie with me for thanksgiving. I can't wait. Thanks!!
Alison ~ so glad Fran is on the mend.
Brandi ~ Deer season opened here last weekend. I hate this time of the year, because they hang the deer in their front yards from the trees. Just so awful. Marty got his this Saturday and they will process it. They love it........me not so much!!
Well with having Friday off, I was so not ready to come back to work today. We are leaving for Alb. a week from today, so I have 2 weeks of work to get done this week. Wish me luck. I can't wait to be in the car heading out. I so need this break!!
Are you all ready for your Thanksgiving Dinners? Please share - last year I got some really neat ideas.
I am taking a few things with me to add to dinner:
Lemon Pound cake
Pumpkin Bread
Cinnamon bread
and when I get there I am making:
Cranberry salad
Corn pudding
Eggnog pumpkin pie
Derby pie
and maybe a peach and butterscotch pie
WFDT ~ Lemon and shrimp pasta, green salad and garlic breadsticks.
Make it a great day everyone. Oh and dinner the other day in the crockpot was amazing - I will post the recipe in a bit.
This was SOOOOOOOOOO good and easy. With the holidays upon us this one is a keeper.
Crockpot Chicken
4 Chicken breasts - This would also be good with turkey. Mine were frozen
Cheese - I used swiss & provoline - 2 slices of each (4 total) but anything would be good
1 can of cream soup - I used FF Chicken but mushroom would also work
1 box of stovetop stuffing any flavor
1/4 cup melted butter
Place the Chicken in the bottom of your crockpot (again mine were frozen) place cheese on top of chicken. Put the undiluted soup on top of that and then dump the stuffing over it all. Drizzle the butter on top and cover. Cook on low for 7 - 8 hours. As the steam builds it moistens the stuffing.
Oh my, this smelled SO good I was so tempted to taste. The cheese bubbles though and the chicken is so tender.
