The What's For Dinner Thread - May '09(recipe index in OP)

I did go to the doctor. I had fallen asleep and didn't wake up until around 11 so it would have been nearly impossible to get walk-in at the office, so I went to the ER. They have like a dual ER - trauma and "fast-track" (like a clinic...but it's not that fast). From the time I got there to when I left it was about 4.5 hours; which is probably less than the clinic would have been - one time I went at 8am walk-in to the clinic and they left for lunch and I wasn't seen until the afternoon.

I do have a slight fever; just over 100. I'm usually around 96 so this is pretty high for me. It's not swine flu (I didn't think it was) but it may be regular flu (but they didn't test for it because it's so unreliable it's pointless. :confused3) They did do a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia; it's likely bronchitis. They did give me antibiotics and sudafed...he said I could take sudafed. :thumbsup2
.

I'm so glad you went...now take the medicine & drink fluids. If I were you & I know some will agree, you need to stay home until after the holiday weekend!

Marisa~ sure we could meet & drive in together, that would be fun... If we all decide NYC I have no problem driving.
I'm glad June 14th is good for everyone!

Gretchen~ enjoying your trip report so far;)

BBL to catch up.

Hey Y'all,

We had a very very nice day today! Kid's church & Alexis graduation was fun. Alexis really enjoyed it. I think she felt special because her Great-Grandpa (Rickie's grandfather) & her "GrandNanny" came to the church. We went out for brunch after.

Bethany, I'm so glad you went to the hospital! Please get lots of rest & feel better!

The aide did not show up last night. We were really po'd. Bob called the agency & gave them quite a earful. First the owner said they didn't know what was going on with aide. Then they back-stepped & said the receptionist did get a call from her & was supposed to call us. Well the conversation got ugly after that! Then about a half hour later the aide calls Bob. She says that her cell phone is broken, but she called the agency & told them she was sick. She says she thought they would take care of it. She told him she had been very sick but very much still wanted the job. She said she would come out tonight! Bob agreed, we'll again she if she shows. We will be calling some other agencies tomorrow.

Angelina's interview went well. But they told her they would call June 10th, to let her know if she gets another interview! As I said bureaucracy.

Some good news, Debi had the biopsy. The results are not back, but the dr who did it gave her a hopeful outlook!

Gretchen, Thanks for the advice! I think it's part of the New Orleans problem. The type of people here that do this type of job, just is different from everywhere else. We had called 3-4 other agencies prior to this one & didn't even get calls back from some.

Gretchen, I'm glad the characters made Hailey happy! I wish that server would have done more to please you!

Becky, YUM as usual! :goodvibes

Kat, That recipe sounds good!

I know I missed a lot, but that's all I can remember. Might eat leftovers or go pickup sushi.

Vicki - LOVE the pics of the boy and his moves! He is such a handsome boy.

I'm so glad you went...now take the medicine & drink fluids. If I were you & I know some will agree, you need to stay home until after the holiday weekend!

Yes, I agree 100%!

Sheryl - Glad you had such a nice day! I'm sorry you're not having much success with the aide, hope she shows tonight and this works out for y'all.

Really hoping Kris wins tonight, but there really is no loser in this competition, they both have exciting futures!:cool1:

Glad your appointment went well!

Bethany, I'm so glad you went and got some meds. Now rest PLEASE or I'll be fussin.

I BEEN restin'! Of course, there was nothing else I COULD do seeing as I had no stamina to even sit up for 20 minutes. Already I am starting to feel human again after the first dose of z-pack and a sudafed. Mmmhmm...it's "just another virus but we'll give you some antibiotics anyways." :headache:

BBL to catch up.

I would love to stay home until Tuesday. Friday is a half day of kids and then a half day of sit through meetings, so I think I will be okay to go in. It's only 3 hours with kids, and I NEED to finish their testing before it comes due. A few years ago, a teacher was in the hospital (admitted an everything) and they CALLED HER at the hospital asking where was her data; why had she not turned it in? :confused3

I am drinking a lot. Primarily water but also tea. Maybe Gatorade would be good too; I was unable to eat hardly anything between lunch yesterday and coming home today. I was too tired to sit up to eat. :confused3

I do not have a car here, so if we meet OUTSIDE of the city, I may have problems getting to where ever we meet. Just something to consider. What kind of activity are we looking at doing?

Bethany - Glad to see you made it to the doctor! I hope the medicine kicks in quickly.

Maria - I meant to tell you earlier, I saw some Pims cookies in the grocery store here so I bought some. And I am troubled to admit I didn't care for them. Maybe I can bring some chocolates for the Rosa?

Sheryl - That does stink about the aide. That just boils my blood. Hopefully the agency will be able to get it worked out. I'll be praying for that anyway.

Vickie - Love the photos girl.

Kat - We've only been to Ohana once before and it was at dinner. But we had wonderful service that night. I guess it is just the luck of the draw. I normally give the servers a break since I worked my way through college waiting tables, but the place had just opened and she only had three tables, including ours.

Anyway, we also picked up lunch one day at Artist Pointe and it was ok. I had the chicken caesar salad. It was a typical salad, the dressing was good and the chicken had a good taste. It was served with two pieces of thinly sliced toasted french bread instead of croutons and they were good. Paige (Hailey's therapist) had the buffalo chicken flatbread and said it was delicious. It must have been because no one else got a bite. Kenny had a turkey wrap and said it was good, but the potato chips got his rave review. And again, I didn't get a bite, so I'll have to take his word for it.

The other lunch was at the patisserie in France. I LOVE this place. Serious love. We all had the ham and brie croissant (heated). They were phenomenal, as usual. Flakey, moist, flavorful. I wish I had one now. Kenny got his usual dessert, a creme brulee and said it was delicious. Paige and I split a strawberry tart. It was wonderful. Even the crust, which I normally don't care for was out of this world. It was so good we almost bought another to eat later. If the line hadn't grown so long we would have.

We ate at one of the tables in the shop. In the air conditioning. I have used the outside tables before, but it was just so hot the inside tables were calling my name.

Ok, my dinner is buzzing. I'll BBL.

Hey all! Just a quick note from me, as we're ready for the finale of AI to start! Our trip was good (would've been great if not for some issues with a very hard headed 3 year old boy). The B&B was fantastic. I have some great pics, but haven't had time to upload any off my camera yet.

Okay, off to watch AI. Hoping that Kris wins, but we're so proud of him no matter what! BBL

I'm afraid I didn't care for the Pims either, my guys did but not me.:confused3 We'll do chocolates with the Rosa! I don't care as long as I'm hanging with my WFD pals I'll be a very happy woman.:grouphug:

I'm ashamed to admit I've never eaten at the patisserie. This next trip we'll be snacking at the F&W booths so doesn't look like we'll get there again. Have to plan a 2010 trip now! Thanks so much for sharing your reviews with us!:goodvibes

Vickie, great pics of your DS. Thanks for posting my friend.

Stephanie, I wish Kris well. I am so hoping he wins but this is only the beginning for him.

Off to get DS to bed and watch AI which I am DVRing.

Oh my goodness!!!!! I can't believe that's true! Ok...chocolates will do:rotfl:(which ones did you buy?)

Bethany don't worry about the logistics we'll figure it out.
Please rest!

Dinner tonight was a low fat chocolate pudding...I had a really big lunch with a girlfriend today....Seared tuna on a bed of arugala, chopped tomato, red onion & artichoke hearts.

Does anyone have any plans for Memorial day? We are actually celebrating on Saturday. Alan has to work on Monday.

Your day sounds like so much fun! :goodvibes

My dad called and said he may come over... DH is chaperoning a youth event Sun night and Monday. We may go see a movie Monday when he gets in :confused3 Obviously, nothing exciting happening here

I AM off Fri, Sat, and Mon - which is a MIRACLE!! I'm trying to decide what to do...

I did go to the doctor.

I'm glad you went! I hope you start perking up soon.

 Their cheese plate is one of the best values in Epcot, IMO. It's huge, you get bread and grapes with it, and it's like $6. I seriously skipped some of the F&WF booth stuff in that area in favor for that instead. The F&WF samples are just too darn overpriced for me to enjoy much of them :sad2:

I ended up with Chick Fil A, and thanks to some googling of points online, found I could afford to have the yummy stuff! :woohoo:

Good Morning!

Quick check in and then hope to BBL to catch up. Thomas and I are going to see my best friend from High School and her son. We are meeting at Cracker Barrel and then going to the house she just closed on. She is not great with directions and does not know how to get to the house...that is why we are meeting at CB. I will use the GPS after that. Good excuse to get a bite to eat.

Dinner will be something with chicken breast. Maybe marinated and grilled.

I want to try and fit in the treadmill today...I am feeling pretty good. A little sore but its that good sore.

Vickie, Love the pics! Glad things went well for your pre op.

Gretchen, Glad to have you back. Thanks for the reviews. I did not read them but will when I catch up.

Sheryl, I hope the aide shows up tonight. Sending good thoughts for Angelina and the job and glad to hear about Debi.

Bethany, rest my friend.

Stephanie, I saw some pics on Fb...the weekend looked great...the kids are adorable! YAY KRIS!!!

OK, I will BBL to catch up. Have a great day all!

I've heard about the cheese plate, have to try and sneak one in. We use the dining plan snack credits on the F&W kiosks, great way use up all the snack credits in one day!:goodvibes

The pork chops were a huge hit & super "EASY", here's the recipe:

Gouda & Spinach Stuffed Pork Chops

Thick cut pork chops
Sliced smoked gouda cheese
Fresh spinach
Horseradish mustard
Panko crumbs
Creole seasoning

Preheat oven to 400. Cut a pocket in each chop and stuff with spinach & cheese. Coat each chop liberally with mustard then in panko crumbs. Place in a buttered 9x13 dish and sprinkle each chop with creole seasoning. Bake for 45 minutes or until brown & crunchy.

WFD - Grilled burgers & sweet potato fries!:goodvibes

Oh my goodness!!!!! I can't believe that's true! Ok...chocolates will do:rotfl:(which ones did you buy?)

Which chocolates or which Pims? :rotfl: If you mean the Pims, I bought the raspberry kind. I normally adore all things raspberry but not so much on the cookies. I will bring whatever chocolates you guys think you would like. We have a Godiva shop near my office (trouble, I know) or I can have my sister send me some of those wonderful See's candies chocolates. She brought a box on her last trip and those were amazing although not as "high brow" as the Godivas.

Are we firming up any plans? I am up for anything and will have child care available. I'd love a dinner, eating around the F&W booths, Rosa and chocolates (with Pims for you), or just drinks someplace else. Whatever fits in best with everyone's schedules. I just can't wait! I'll also have my Mommy Minivan so I can do a taxi service to help round everyone up if necessary.

I've never tried the cheese plate but it looks wonderful. I just can't seem to pass up that croissant. But you are right about the prices. We got three ham and brie croissants, the creme brulee, the strawberry tart, 2 diet cokes and a bottled water all for less than $30. I think that's a great value at Disney.

And I'm sorry I forgot to congratulate you on the weight loss. I'm hoping I can find the willpower to start soon myself.

Gretchen, Glad to have you back. Thanks for the reviews. I did not read them but will when I catch up.

Lauren, you didn't miss much. Seriously. Have a great day with your friend.

That sounds really good. I normally only buy the tenderloins and cut them into chops. I'm sure I could just leave it whole and stuff the entire thing but I wonder how much more cooking time it will need and if that will impact the taste too much.

Tonight's dinner is scallops in alfredo sauce with pasta and garlic bread.

Have a great day everyone!

Quick, quick fly by. I just got to work and have tons to do as I took yesterday off to go play. I'll BBL to tell you all about it.

But . . . I wanted to say Yea :cool1:  :cheer2: to Kris on AI. I saw it on television this morning and right away thought of all of you.

Let me get caught up and I will be BACK!!

Good morning! It's a gorgeous day here! Dinner last night was so yummy! It was pretty easy too. If anyone wants the recipe, I'll post it.

Dinner tonight will be ravioli lasagna.

Now, I've got to get the kids up, dressed, fed and out the door. Just 5 more days of school!!!!
