The What's For Dinner Thread - March '11 (recipe index in OP)

Nancy - Hope Dan's shoulder is going well.

Glynis - Hope you enjoyed going away and that you've come home to an intact house (kidding...I'm sure it's fine!).

Sheryl - take care of yourself.

Janice - I hope you'll give a chapter and verse account of HP7PII. I so want to see it but don't think I'll be able to squeeze it in for another 2 weeks.

Becky - I'm not on FB but I'm glad you liked Montreal. I was there in 2007 (and Quebec City) and have been trying to convince some of the other Aussies that there are other places worth going to in North America other than the standard tour of LA/SF/Vegas/NYC/Orlando. I'm doing a retrospective TR on that 2007 trip - the photos aren't great quality and they were taken by DH in the days before I discovered which end of the camera to hold. I have pictures of Quebec City and Montreal up if anyone is interested. Link here...http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2720766

WFDT? We went out for Japanese food!

Have a great day all.

Good morning!

We had some storms move through yesterday and a lightening strike fried my router.:scared1: As you can see, I'm back up and running!

WFD - PF Changs with the hubby!

I invited Lindsay to come back and join us here on the thread, after all we wouldn't be here if it weren't for her! I miss sharing recipes with her and am hoping y'all feel the same way.

Kathy I am glad you are back.

I wish PF Chang was closer to me. I love that place.

I would welcome Lindsay back :flower3:

Hi Ladies! Just popping in - haven't done so in quite a while. I doubt I'll be able to get caught up, as I would have to go back probably months ;), but I'm gonna try to keep up from here.

Dinner tonight is dining out - I think we are going to Texas Roadhouse. Erin is currently in Arizona with a group of friends so it'll just be Bob and I.

Good morning all!
Dinner will be on the fly. Possibly takeout. Tomorrow we are going to see the last Harry Potter movie. A is soo excited.

I'm on vacation next week and we plan to see it at some point.

Hey y'all,

Our boy went for his 3 months check up already!!!

I had a epidural neck injection today.

Wow Sheryl, I can't believe he is three months already!! I hope the injection helps.

I'm leaving for a day and a half with Alan, and we're leaving Katie in charge. I'm a bit nervous, but I think she can do it. If she gets into trouble, my SIL will come over (she lives like 30 seconds away), and help out. If you could keep a prayer in your hearts that all will go well while we're away, I'd be grateful! I really would like to come home to all 5 kids and a house intact!

Wow - what a brave woman you are :thumbsup2. I hope the house is still standing!!

stopping in quick! I am taking Dan for shoulder surgery today. Erica is just back to work from her vacation so it is better that she stays there. She works from home so he will get spoiled once back.

Hoping the surgery went well.

I'll be back a bit later and try to read back a few more pages.

Hey, all of you lovely ladies :worship:

Life has been awesome out our way. I don't know if you guys knew it or not, but we were a part of the catastrophic tornadoes that raged through the south on April 27 and hit 3 states. Our town is still recovering. One of the tornadoes struck just a mile down the road. We sustained only a few missing shingles and some siding damage. Some neighbors lost their roofs.

We had another rather unexpected storm last night. My sister-in-law has a hole in her roof due to a tree limb. It hit their daughter's room just above her crib. Scary, folks.

Speaking of in-laws, Amanda has me cooking for them around once a week. She works late and doesn't get home until after 6 and her hubby isn't much of a cook. They live about 3 miles from me so picking up dinner is easy on them. I've been going batty coming up with good foods for them that transfer well. I'm sure you guys could give me some good tips ;)

As far as our house goes, it's homemade chili and cornbread tonight.

I have really missed you guys and I hope that all is going well for all of you

Trying to get caught up here...

Welcome back, Lindsay!

Glynis -- Congratulations to Alan! I hope you are enjoying your time together. I won't tell you the stories of what happened when my parents left me and Becky alone one weekend.

Sheryl -- I can't believe Jude is already three months. Things go by so fast. I hope the injection helped.

Janice -- Enjoy Harry! We are seeing it next weekend. Can't wait!

Nancy -- I hope all went well with Dan's surgery.

Work has been crazy, but I had today off, only because my boss is on vacation. Plus, I have been driving all over the place dropping the kids off at camps. Caili did a skating camp this week, which she loved, and Liam was at baseball camp. But hey, the week is done. One of my friends from our old neighborhood is coming over for dinner tonight, so I am making antipasto salad and crostini. I am grilling a pizza for the kiddos. I may have to sneak a piece because I am starving and I am not sure when my friend will arrive. She was working today.

Welcome back Lindsay!

Getting ready to head home then on to my sisters for swim meet tomorrow. Taking my godson with me, he and my oldest DN are friends and I have been promising them I would bring him with me. The two of them have been badgering me all week about when are we leaving, when will we get there, how long are we staying. :rotfl: Unfortunately we have to come home tomorrow night, I have a training on Sunday.

Dinner tonight will be on the road. Catch you all later. :flower3:

Lindsay These storms are fierce this year I am glad we all have stayed safe.

I think I am going to have a salad. I have a ton of lettuce to use. I have to think of something for A

Welcome Back Lindsey glad your all safe from the storms.

It's a normal Saturday here at our house. We are eating out as usual ;) We are eating at American Cafe which means spinach con queso with chips and BBQ chicken pizza for us.

I'm trying to get my grocery list together. I'm thinking about making spaghetti and meatballs for Kevin and Amanda. When I do this, I just get the sauce together and give them the pasta to make at home. Meatballs are quite the task though, so I only make them for people I really care about, lol.

Have a great day everyone!

sneaks away to drink more coffee

Harry Potter was awesome. If you can see it in 3D do so. 3D has come a long way, this movie was awesome in 3D. I can hardly wait to see it again.

tonight is grilled chicken asada. If I can get my but off the chair I may try my hand at kale chips. I got some kale in my organic box and want to try it.

Going to cook halibut from WF later. Some kind of fennel salsa for the fish, Grilled garlic sour dough, arugula salad.

Marilyn, Have fun at the meet with the kiddos!

Nancy, Hope that Dan is recovery well.

Hi Lindsay, Very glad that you came through those awful storms. Sorry that your town suffered so much damage. It must have been awful!

Hi, everyone! Sorry I didn't come back to report before now. Things got crazy, hectic around here (yeah, when are they NOT crazy, hectic???). You'll all be happy to know that Katie and the kids did just fine while we were gone. We did have some scary moments, though. We were planning to leave at 9:00 in the morning on Wednesday. At 10 minutes to 8, Mary came up to me complaining that her throat hurt. I took a peek and it was horribly red! I immediately called the doctor's office, and they agreed to squeeze her in at 8:00. We rushed over to the office, and they did a strep swab. It came back positive IMMEDIATELY, and we were faced with a dilemma. I could either get the prescription filled, and ask my SIL to come over twice a day to give it to Mary (I just didn't feel like that was something Katie was equipped to handle, yet), or we could ask for a shot in the rump. Well, Mary and I both wanted different things! Being the mom, I got my way, and she got a shot in the rump. She was not happy about it!!! Alan and I kept calling and checking in every couple of hours, and Mary was amazed at how quickly she was feeling better!

We had a great getaway! It was great to just enjoy some time alone!!! Alan did have to shoot a couple of stories, after we had seen a matinee, so I sat in the shade of a large tree, and read my book while I waited for him. It was 2 hours of peace and quiet. I told Alan, that alone was worth the price of gas to drive there!!!

Yesterday, my niece took the twins to see the new Winnie the Pooh movie. They both liked it a lot, but said the voices were so different that it was distracting sometimes. Oh well. I can't wait to take Timothy!!! He has recently discovered Pooh, and loves him!!!

This morning, we took Katie and Jacob to see HP 7.2. We saw the 9:00 showing this morning and it was FABULOUS!!! We loved it so much!!! Yes, there were things that were different from the book, but it was amazing!!! Can't wait to see it again!!!

Sheryl - Sounds like Jude is growing just fine!!! What a dolly!!!

Lindsay - Welcome back!!! I'm so glad that you came through all the storms!

Kathy - I'm glad that you were able to get your router fixed, or replaced so quickly!

Dinner tonight will be Tomato-Artichoke Pasta with Cheesy Garlic Bread Twists. Both new recipes. I'll share if they are good!

Harry Potter was awesome. If you can see it in 3D do so. 3D has come a long way, this movie was awesome in 3D. I can hardly wait to see it again.

.

::yes::

We went today, took my wee nephew with us and we all loved it !!!

Glad to hear good reviews on HP. We'll see the regular version as Erin and I both have issues with the 3D type movies.

Quiet day here. Got errands and grocery shopping done. And now we are waiting for Erin to get back from her trip. We need to pick her up at her friend's house which is about 45 minutes away. We will grab dinner somewhere after we get her because they won't be stopping for food on the way.
