The What's for Dinner Thread- June 2012 (recipe index in OP)

I need some meat free ideas for tonight ~ Lent. I was leaning towards linguine and white clam sauce~ but I didn't really want to fuss too much.

Ugh ~ I would like an easy, yummy dinner so I can watch Life of Pi ;)

So... Pictures of the memorial service for THE roast???
:lmao:

That's an easy dinner, I make that a lot as a midnight snack on Tuesdays after band because it's so easy.

Our favorite, fast meat free dinner is Spicy Black Bean burgers served with tater tots and a side salad. But I have teenage boys, so it might not sound quite as yummy to an adult! ;)

Tonight dinner is rib-eye, broccoli soup, salad, and home fries....

Cleaning out the fridge!

Just back from the massage, I feel like a new woman!

Tonight is delivery. Thai and Japanese. We moved all the boxes and bookcases. :faint: Pictures coming on my TR.

Dinner last night was bad - even with my low expectations of myself...
Random stuff we found in the pantry at 9 pm... :guilty:

Tonight I'm going to make a Ham and Scalloped potatoes. That is if we ever get out of bed! I'm going to go put some Cinnamon rolls in the oven maybe that will get Fran going. Otherwise it's me the tablet and the DIS.

Last night we made Pizza, and it turned out to be the best crust I have ever made!

Tonight - I have no idea, left overs from the fridge. trying not let things spoil while we are gone...

My plans to shop for groceries were spoiled by lacrosse practice, so we had veggie pizza. My diet is not working out this week! Got to get back on track tomorrow. I was down 5 pounds, but I bet that won't be the case in the morning.

Beef Stroganoff

At Kidani

1 ½ tsp powdered mustard
½ tsp sugar
½ tsp salt
2 tbl vegetable oil
2 cup thinly sliced onions separated into rings
½ pound fresh mushrooms thinly sliced
½ pound fillet of beef
¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
16 oz sour cream

My ingredients, and you cut the meat into bite sized pieces

And my cooking process. Saute the onions and mushrooms on very low heat covered for about 20-30 minutes. I always do it for 30 minutes as they are not substantially wilted after 20.

Then you cook the beef.

This is a mixture of ground mustard seed, salt, sugar and a little (too much) water.

Return the mushrooms and onions back to the pan.

....wow....that looks good - I make it, however, a totally DIFFERENT way....

....well, I use cubes of meat, rather than strips. Also, I remove the outside skin of a very large onion, but I don't slice it. After saute`ing the meat (seasoned with paprika, sea salt, and freshly-cracked pepper) I add the onion, lowering the heat, adding two bay leaves and a beef buillion cube melted in 6 oz. of hot water, and covering it, simmering for about 45 minutes. That's when I add the sliced mushrooms. Cook for another 10 minutes and stir in 2 cups of sour cream. After thoroughly mixed, I dissolve a heaping tablespoon of cornstarch in an ounce of water and pour that slurry into the meat mixture to slightly thicken the sauce. Then I serve it over buttered noodles. (GF, of course!)
