Next time he does that, tell him that if he's well enough to walk around all day, he's well enough to go to school/do chores/etc....:rolleyes1

He is a good kid he did do chores too. He was helping me fold laundry and put it away. He does like how I leave the dresser drawers open just a little he can be very fussy. I don't know where he gets it from :confused3 I wonder if having a father that was in the Marines is genetic?

Bethany I am glad you had the day off. Has the snow stopped yet?

I made some devilled eggs today...there are lots left over. I used hot smoked paprika on them...yum!

Dinner was crusty chicken with honey mustard sauce--a recipe from the Boston Globe Sunday magazine a couple of weeks ago--it was eh. I should have known better. It was too bland for me and John, but because the marinade has four cloves of garlic, thyme, celery seed, shallots, hot sauce, etc. no picky kids would eat it either. The asparagus was good--it had carmelized onions with balsamic vinegar, and bacon. Truthfully though, I would rather just have plain seared or roasted asparagus. I don't need or really want bells and whistles on my vegetables. I am a vegetable purist! Upper corner, pasta with parmesean.

Yes, it has stopped, but I hear murmurs of another "moisture band" coming this way. It looks pretty icy out there. We are supposed to get above freezing by Thursday! :woohoo:

How is it by you?

The funny thing is this storm is not particularly bad. The timing of it, however, was JUST RIGHT for a school cancellation! :thumbsup2

it is very cold no snow to speak of. We just had a dusting this morning just enough to make things slippery. I suppose you won't have another snow day?

EXTREMELY unlikely. Of course, this one was too!

It's very icy, but the plows and stuff were supposed to have caught up with it by now. It was snowing too fast for them to keep up this morning.

Hello ladies. Snowy day here. Schools were closed and I woke up long enough to change my work voicemail, call my boss and tell her I was taking a day off then back to sleep I went.

Does it make you feel any better that it was cold & the wind was really whipping outside when I grilled? I needed the heat of the grill to keep me warm.

I do give you kudos for perseverance. However, after shoveling snow for two hours this morning, the season for grilling seems so far away here. So how was the aged steak from WF? I have always wondered if it was worth trying.

I feel much much better finally.

I am so happy to hear this.

We had the first official cook out of the season.

More grilling! I am glad you enjoyed the play, and it sounds like your dad is finding ways to keep himself busy.

I think he will live. I pity whoever he marries he was such a whiner yesterday. Tonight his dad has him. :rotfl: Evil I know. pirate:

We got more than a foot of snow here.

Caili did have skating, so dinner was leftover pizza for Liam, scrambled eggs for Caili, and the last of the leftover Indian food for me.

I also had the day off work but it was because the boy was ill..

Poor wee thing, I hate seeing him in pain.:sad1:

The poor kid :sad2:. I read your updates and feel even worse for him. I hope he feels better soon.

Your dream cracked me up!

I feel much much better finally. DS and I took a 3 hour nap today!

Ann

Good to see you are feeling better and that your little one is letting you have a good nap.

Apparently, he's decided to remodel the house, well, at least the parts he's hated for the last 38 years. He's ripping out the old wood paneling, scraping the "popcorn" off the ceilings, and putting down marble tile in the dining room. I guess since he doesn't have mom's medical bills anymore, he can spend the money on stuff he's wanted to do. It also keeps him busy so he doesn't have to think.

If the work helps keep him busy and helps to pass the time it is a good thing. Too much time to think after all those years together must be hard. :grouphug:

Alex stayed home today he was up all night coughing and had a headache this morning. He has to go to school tomorrow it is state testing. I think he will live. I pity whoever he marries he was such a whiner yesterday. Tonight his dad has him. :rotfl: Evil I know. pirate:

Poor Alex. Poor Dad......and I agree "evil" mom ;) I do hope that he feels better soon. My Daniel was like Alex, he could stay home sick but he could not stay still. I could keep him down until about 10 Am then he would be cleaning drawers, closets or one time Buddy's cave of a shed.

Becky- you can pass the asparagus my way any time you feel like it :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Wonder where Lauren is this morning?

WFD - Creole steak, yellow rice and broccoli.

Morning! I am here...A has a delayed opening so I slept in a bit. Now we all need to get in the shower at the same time. :scared1:

I am feeling pretty good. I think I over did it a bit yesterday. Today I have doctor then a couple things to do and then I am relaxing.

Dinner is going to be really easy. I have a pre-cooked pot roast from Market Day and I'll serve that with instant taters doctored up with some cheese or something and the french green beans that I did not make last night. I did make beef barley soup yesterday with intentions of freezing it but Andrew and his friend ate alot of it so we will have some soup too. His friend was funny. He never had beef barley soup and loved it so much he asked for the recipe and some to take home! :)

I will try to catch up later...I hope everyone is well.

Have a great day!

Morning Y'all,

scotlass, I hope the boy is feeling better today!

Janice, I hope Alex is better too & hasn't spread his germs! Wouldn't want the poor kid banned to the garage. ;)

Glynis, Glad Mary is better & you had such a nice weekend! It's good that your Dad is able to keep himself busy.

Ann, Glad you are feeling better! :goodvibes Hope your pipes & directtv installation go well today.

Not much going on here. My neck is feeling a lot better today, so that's good!

Oh not good. We have had a rash of car thefts & breakins in my subdivision. Bad enough to have made the local news twice! :sad2:

I do give you kudos for perseverance. However, after shoveling snow for two hours this morning, the season for grilling seems so far away here. So how was the aged steak from WF? I have always wondered if it was worth trying.

Shovel Snow for two hours! I wouldn't know how!! and if I did you wouldn't believe the whining/wine-ing ;) I'd be doing after.

It was an excellent steak! I don't know that I can really justify the higher price. We both really enjoyed it, but the guilt of what that sucker cost was killing us! :confused3 I do think we did really well with the aging of the prime rib for Christmas. I think I might go buy a large hunk of beef again, age it, trim it & cut it into steaks to freeze.

I made some devilled eggs today...there are lots left over. I used hot smoked paprika on them...yum!

Becky, Those eggs looks scrumptious!! I want one! I saw a recipe in one of my mags for deviled eggs made with sour cream & topped with smoked salmon. I want to try that!

Sorry you weren't impressed with your chicken recipe. I think the asparagus look delicious, maybe I'm not a veggie purist? :confused3

Dinner tonight is going to be roasted chicken. I haven't decided if I'm doing it inside or on a beer can on the grill. Not sure what the sides will be either. This is all really in preparation to make Laura's Chicken Potpie! ;)

Lauren, You better be good!

How are the road conditions up there?

I got hit with a nasty cold yesterday. I felt is coming on, so I was somewhat prepared. I have a cough and a scratchy throat. Zicam is my friend!

Anyway, I didn't feel up to making the Italian patties last night, so we had spaghetti instead. Tonight will be the patties.

Lauren - be good! It's so close to Bean's time! Don't worry about the section. You'll be just fine! I forgot to mention that one of the best things about the section, is that it forces you to just sit or stay in bed and cuddle your baby! No housework at all! Loved it!!!!

Scotlass - I hope that the boy is feeling better today!

I know there was another sick son, but can't for the life of me remember who's boy it is. Anyway, I hope he's better too!

Have a great day, everyone! It's going to be in the upper 60's here, so I'm off to do some errands. Early Easter shopping. When you have to get a new church outfit for all 5 kids, you kind of need to spread the spending. So far, I've found dresses and sandals for Leslie and Mary. Today it is my goal to find an outfit for Jacob.

Morning all, it's still snowing here! Not enough to matter, it just looks really pretty. We didn't get the foot of snow like you boston girls, we got about 3 inches of heavy, wet snow.

Scotlass- I hope your boy is feeling better, my daughter doesn't believe me that eating the apple peel and vegetables will make things more "comfortable." I call my nephew "the boy." I called him that since before he was born, they weren't telling his name. I've never had the chance to meet him so I've never gotten used to using his name. It makes me smile when you say it, I think of my little nephew.

Laura- You should see my grill set up, my dad taught me well. I have an unheated sunporch with sliding doors, I have my grill right out one of the doors. I just open the door and there's my grill, I do need a flashlight though.

Becky- Nothing beats a deviled egg, lots of dry mustard and onion, my favorite.

We're having chicken potpie tonight. I don't feel like going to the store and I happen to have everything in the house to make it. I cooked some extra chicken last night and think that will be the perfect use for it. I guess that's my excitement for the day, off to do laundry.

Glynis, Hope you can keep that cold away. I'm downing the vit c, echinacea & zicam myself. Seems to be working!

I realized I will need to roast the chicken in the oven to grab all the juices to make "real" gravy for a good potpie tomorrow.

I'm going to use Laura's recipe. What other veggies do y'all typically put in there? I think Maria said she likes leeks? (she's on vacation isn't she?)
