The What's for Dinner Thread - August 2014 (recipe index in OP)

....I sure hope so, but I am one of a handful of teachers who have not been observed yet....and my supervisors have to observe each teacher 3 times [mine is two 20-minute periods and one 40-minute period]within the school year...

 I would be soooo nervous if that was me.

We've had a very full weekend this weekend and there was no way I was going to be able to control my no-carb diet. So, I just went with the flow. I hope to get back to it tomorrow.
We had a family birthday celebration and ended up eating Italian. DS ordered the bolognaise and it was pretty average, according to him.

WFDT?

DS requested pasta bolognaise for dinner tonight. That's how 'average' the restaurant food was.

Happy Monday girlies,

Kimmar ~ Oh bless your heart. I really feel for you - that has to be so hard!! Those kids are so lucky to have a teacher as you. Keep your head up and you can do this. I hate that you are not sleeping because of the worry. I wish there was something I could do to help. Please know I am thinking of you and I know you will be just fine.

Brandi ~ a 2 hour massage sound heavenly right now. I have an hour scheduled for next week - but 2 hours WOW!!
What did you eat at the Indian restaurant? I have just found that I like Indian but always struggle as to what to order. Matthew has a wonderful place real close to him that we have tried a couple of times.

PIO ~ Oh man I hope you aren't getting sick!! That is just how mine started out and to be truthful I am still not 100%. Whatever this was knocked me for a loop and I am NEVER sick.

Alison ~ Please do NOT stop the plan. You are doing such a good job. With me being on Nutrisystem and Doug not, maybe I can help a bit. I eat each night completely on plan but I also fix a meal for Doug. I know that isn't as easy as fixing one meal, but if it will make her happy then it is worth it. What is she complaining about the most? What does she want that you a. can't have and b. she can? Let me help you - I will do my best!! I really want you to continue and I believe you need to. There are a lot of different ways to do this you just need to realize it. OK??!!

We kind of hung low this weekend. I was still not feeling 100% but I was going stir crazy in the house also. So on Saturday we went to Kearney as Doug was looking for a new stand for his saw - don't ask as I have no idea what it was but he did find it. He was a happy boy. It just killed me to not go see the girls but there was no way I was going to give them whatever I have. I am sure it would have been ok as I don't have a fever anymore but I would have felt horrible if they got it. So we ate and came home. I was pooped!! Sunday was church and some cleaning. Exciting stuff let me tell ya!!

WFDT ~ We are having hamburgers (his grilled and mine on plan), sliced tomatoes and a vegetable salad.

Make it a great day.

It's that low-grade stuff that hangs around and is hard to shake. :(

Sounds like you had a relaxing weekend.

Last night we had baked Mahi Mahi and zucchini boats. Fran has had enough of my eating plan. She had a meltdown last night, the thing is I am enjoying the weight loss I'm experiencing. How do I get her on board with this?

Tonight I have to go to LA for a rehearsal. I'm wary of leaving her home alone, but thankful that she decided not to go. No clue what dinner will be. Same for tomorrow. The concert is at 3PM. At least tomorrow I can pick up take out on the way home.
David has become more and more open to the way I am eating, I found that not pushing it on him and just letting him see the things I am doing has influenced him.

WFDT? Last night we had some Ramen soup noodles. The seasons are changing over here and I'm usually more susceptible to colds and flu's when it happens. I've had a niggle in the throat, a bad headache and was coughing yesterday. So, I decided some comfort food was in order. I also got into bed by 8 pm last night and fell asleep early. Feeling so much better this morning.
Rest is very important and I understand about the seasonal colds and stuff, I used to get them all the time, take care of yourself.

Happy 4th day of spring,

Brandi ~ I totally agree. Doug is very supportive as long as I do what I want and he can see the effects. What really gets me is, I am the one trying to lose weight and eat right and then Doug is the one that ends up losing more that me.

Alison ~ I really do try to fix the same things for Doug. And as long as there is food on the table and enough to make him full the man does not complain at all. I bet if Fran starts to feel better and she sees you feeling better that will be all it takes for her to see the benefits. Just remember don't try to fix everything all at once. Try something new for a few weeks then try something else. Slow and steady!

Kimmar ~ I have sure been thinking of you. I hope your day is a good one.

I tried to talk myself out of going to class last night but in the end I went. All I wanted to do was go home and take a nap. Whatever this was has zapped all of my energy. But I went and it felt good to be back. But it was all I could do to fix dinner last night and get the dishes done. The rest of the night I was done.

We are to get some rain today. Right now it is really dark and cloudy out but I will bet anyone $100 bill that we won't get a drop. We need it so bad though.

WFDT ~ ham and scalloped potatoes, roasted beets and sliced tomatoes.

Make it a great day.

I got the Vegetarian Combo meal, that way I could try a little of everything. I really like Chick Peas so any kind of curry work for me too.

Good morning all,

Brandi ~ I love curry also. I will have to look for a vegetarian combo platter. I do love my veggies, I don't know what I would do if I didn't. The only vegetable that I just can't eat is peas. I won't pick them out of a stew but to sit and eat a bowl - YUCK!!
I think you have had enough snow. It is raining this morning. YEA!!

WFDT ~ Potluck for Lenten dinner tonight. Lot's of good stuff!! I brought a big salad so that will be my dinner along with a NS bar.

Make it a great day.

So glad to hear it is raining for you.

Yes we had freezing rain this morning. I think all this dark dreary weather is affecting me. I am just not my normal perky self today. I want to curl up under the blankets and take a nap.

WFDT ~ ham and scalloped potatoes, roasted beets and sliced tomatoes.

You get this from Nutrisystem? What I would give for some scalloped potatoes!

I really like Chick Peas so any kind of curry work for me too.

See I hate chick peas, one of the reasons hummus doesn't work for me. In fact most of the things that vegetarians eat for staples like black beans, sweet potatoes, eggplant are things I don't like.

I have not been my perky self since the "accident" or whatever you call it. I don't want to get out of bed anymore.

Last night we had Cube Steaks with a fresh tomato sauce and roasted asparagus.

Tonight we're having pork chops and roasted veggies. I have green and yellow squash, red onion and red pepper.

Do you like lentils? broccoli, cauliflower, cottage cheese? mushrooms? Regular potatoes? (I had one for breakfast this morning) do you like any beans? White, Kidney, Pintos?

I'll eat any of that except cauliflower, but I'm supposed to avoid potatoes due to their glycemic index. Right now, I'm having leftover chicken Florentine for breakfast! :thumbsup2
