I understand that MLK weekend is busy at WDW and DVC, but what about the week after? We are planning a trip for next Jauary that week after, and I'm just curious about both 7 month availability and crowds. We promised our nephew that we would take him back to WDW before he graduates, and next year he will be a junior, so it's time. He has the Monday and Tuesday off the last week of January, so we are planning to arrive the Tuesday after MLK day and staying through to the first of February. We'll book OKW at the 11 month mark, but might switch to AKV at 7 months if there is availability.

I was wondering this myself. How available is OKW at 7 mos? And the weekends on that last weekend in Jan?

Actually even MLK weekend isn't bad. This is an overall slow time of year so even the quasi-holiday doesn't make a big difference.

Thats great to hear because I am heading to OKW on Saturday!

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but I need to disagree with OKW Lover. There is not a single DVC room available for MLK weekend this year, and I have attempted a few times to find availability direct through Disney's website and was not able to find a room ANYWHERE, so I think MLK weekend is quite busy.

I went jan 20 thru jan 30th in 2006 with a large group of my family. Overall the crowd levels were wonderful. Only exception was a satruday at MK, but the weekdays were a dream. Never stood in line longer than 10 min including the occassional strategic use of FassPass.

I have reservations for the weekend following MLK weekend...I made my reservations in November for that weekend... I've also stayed during MLK weekend and found it VERY crowded...

OMG! It is horrible...the lines are so long. It is so cold! Don't go in January! ;)

Okay...seriously, it is great. I just don't want the secret out! My birthday usually falls over MLK weekend/week, so that is when we go. It is wonderful! The weather can be "iffy", but it is worth the risk. I can live with a sweatshirt in the evenings.

Well, we've gone many times earlier in January, and the weather isn't much of a problem. We know it will be better than home. It's good to know that the post MLK week is as we expected too, because we wont plan to arrive until that Tuesday.
