Cast of Characters:
Linda - mom, 52, goes with the flow of her bossy, perfectionist of a daughter. Spent much of her trip sick. Left my dad at home
Christy - daughter, 26, the ultimate in over-planning and the biggest Disney fan in the family. Single.
My dining review scale: 1-5 stars *****
Part 1 - Pre planning & Friday
Part 2 - AK, DTD & Cirque de Soleil
Part 3 - Epcot
Part 4 - A bust of a day at the Magic Kingdom
Part 5 - Feeling better at MGM
--------------------------
Our final day together...
We decided we couldnt leave the World without going back to Soarin just one more time. Two, if we were lucky. We followed the right handed crowd behind the Characters on Holiday one more time and headed directly to the Land at 9am. We asked to be on the front row. And were in the right place and time to be allowed that request. As we tucked our backpack under the seats, off went the sandals as well. That was a tip I learned here on the Disboards. Ahhhh, the wind on our bare feet, the smell of orange .the breeze blowing up our .oh. The rides over. You mean we cant stay right here in our seats for just one more round?
And now there is a 40 minute wait in the standby line and a fastpass for an hour from now. We had intended on being out of the park by that point. So we run to Test Track. We both get in the single rider line this time with a 5 minute wait. And once weve made one round on the track, we get back in line to ride it just one last time!
And that, my friends, is how we ended our WDW vacation.
The Magical Express took Mom back to the airport that afternoon. We had gotten her boarding pass that morning at the resort and had given them possession of her luggage. What a great amenity.
Before she left, we got food at Sassagoula. I got a minute maid raspberry lemonade, a huge hot dog and grapes for dessert. Mom had the taco salad, juice and grapes as well. Our last 2 counter service credits are now gone. We also get a create-your-own ice cream sandwich. Vanilla bean ice cream between 2 huge choc. chip cookies. It was better than the one at the Plaza Ice Cream parlor. The cookies were softer. We split it.
Im staying until tomorrow morning. I head to Downtown Disney this afternoon to do some last minute shopping at Basin and World of Disney. I also decide that I didnt need my Ghirardelli coupon (that expired the day before) and I was going to get an ice cream sundae and a coffee. I had the warm brownie sundae which was yummy as well. And yes, I DID just eat an ice cream sandwich an hour ago, thankyouverymuch.
I was supposed to have dinner at Boma tonight. But my stomach isnt quite up to it. I did actually eat some REAL FRUIT this afternoon. Somehow my body was screaming give me fiber!!!!!!
Too much information?
Sorry.
So I ate once again at Sassagoula. Yeah, youre saying to yourself you turned down BOMA for the food court?!?!?! Yes ladies and gentlemen. I did. I had the fruit/cheese tray and some beignets.
Im picking up my co-worker/friend tonight from MCO (now I have a car rental) so we can drive to Cape Canaveral tomorrow. Her flight is delayed until 11:30 tonight, so I sleep until about 10:45 and then go pick her up.
Tomorrow morning we eat breakfast back at the Kona Café where I have the infamous Tonga Toast (amazing!) and she has the Big Kahuna platter. I also have a strawberry smoothie. This used up our last 2 TS credits. I only wish I could have gotten a fruit starter to go with it.
Final thoughts:
It will probably be another 2 years or so before I get back to WDW. Maybe next Christmas, if Im lucky. But really I want to plan a vacation next year either for Australia or Europe. WDW is great, but there are so many places out there I want to visit. As I changed my tag line to, I am full of the wanderlust
Free dining was great. I tried new things, I had treats that I normally wouldnt have (bisque, desserts all the time, beef) and didnt feel bad about the price tag.
I dont think snacks are useless. At least you can get bottled water out of it. Theyre petty good sizes. Im not a soda drinker, so I didnt care about that. So we never got anything special out of those credits, but that was fine with me. I had a frozen banana, lots of Dasani and a MM ice cream sandwich (The cookies/cream variety)
Florida drivers, whether they are natives or tourists are GREAT. Drivers in Texas are notoriously bad and rude. It was a nice change of pace.
And for those interested, you can find my cruise review/report right here.
Th-th-th-thats all folks! Oh wait, wrong character
