The Wave or CG for dinner

We were just in WDW last month and ate at CG for the first time. It was very nice, don't get me wrong, but based on reviews and other opinions, it fell just shy of meeting my expectations. The view was spectacular, as was viewing Wishes from the roof. The food, while delicious, was no more spectacular than the meal I had at Wolfgang Puck Express the day before and at double the price (I had the grouper at CG and the macadamia-crusted chicken breast at WPE). The atmosphere was nice, but it was so noisy that it took away from the ambiance for me.

While we did not dine at The Wave, we did peek inside the restaurant and I thought it was really beautiful. I added that to my list of places I'd like to try. We ate at the Concourse Steakhouse when it existed...not sure if The Wave has the same menu concepts or not, but we loved both atmosphere and food at the Concourse - it actually stood out among other restaurants that trip.

The Wave is very good (best cod I've had in years), but its menu and wine list are much more limited than CG's. The focus of the Wave is more toward "eco-friendly" and "sustainable" foods and wines. I give them a thumbs up for this attempt, but we would have been happier with a wider choice of wines.

And no, it's not tacky. We found the atmosphere to be quite relaxing. We're going back next fall. But having said all this, if you want an all-out, super-duper special meal with a dynamite view (and price to match), I'd go with the CG.

Thanks all for your input. I'm starting to feel really good about my selection of The Wave again. I think my parents will like it, especially the theme. My DF's a fisherman.

If you only peeked in past the front entrance and looked at the bar, yes, it's quite nice. But look around the corner to the actual dining room and it's like a completely different place with none of the same touches. But, like they say, you don't eat the decor.
