The Walking Dead on AMC

There were a lot of commercials tonight!

I did a good job at predicting!:cool1::cheer2: In my post today and in posts on previous days I said that:

1. I didn't think Carol would die so soon after Merle's death (too much anguish for Daryl to handle at one time);

2. I didn't think Hershel and Milton would both die in the same episode or at the same time - I thought it would be one or the other to go;

3. I didn't picture Andrea ever moving into the prison at all;

4. I didn't think that 3-5 major, core characters would die tonight because there had already been a few major character deaths this season. I thought that we'd lose one (or possibly two) major characters and then a 'lesser' character (like Martinez or someone of his caliber - it wasn't Martinez but it was 'the other guy' from Tyreese's group); and

5. I had a feeling that the writers would not kill the Governor when it would seem fitting to kill him (tonight), and would probably bring him back again in the future.

Those were the specific predictions I got right.

However, I was wrong about Hershel being the one to go. I didn't think that he and Glenn would both survive this episode, and I was thinking that one of them would have to go - most likely Hershel. I still don't think Hershel will be around for too much longer in the series, but he didn't go when I thought he would go.

Bringing in allllll of those people to the prison now adds some extra females to be possible love interests for Rick, Daryl, Tyreese, etc. This will pave the way for more of the core cast members to be killed off because now we have a lot of other people to fill the void. So if we lose Hershel and Carol next, or possibly Glenn, there are a lot of other folks who may step up as major players in their absence.

:confused3

I am a little disappointed in this finale. I was expecting so much more...

The Governor's still out there...? I'm glad they got those people out of Woodbury but geez does this mean a whole other season of being in the prison? :crazy2:

As much as I didn't like Andrea, that was a little sad. I'm glad she got to go out with her friends beside her.

Does it? The Governor recruited most everyone that wasn't either very young or elderly into his army, and he didn't seem to discriminate based on gender. I don't think there's a whole lot of romantic interest potential there for the main characters, though I do think that Herschel may lose his place as the wise father figure and that Carl may find someone other than Beth to pass the time with.

I was rooting for zombie Milton. :cheer2: Andrea had to go. But overall I thought it was rather anti-climactic... A season finale that doesn't wrap up the main storyline/adversity of the season is bound to be disappointing in a sense. Glad Daryl survived, hate the direction they seem to be taking Carl, can't believe they left the Governor alive. Martinez should have shot him on the spot!

On a side note - Am I the only one who was totally geeked to see a World War Z commercial? I hadn't heard a firm release date since the pre-Christmas release was pushed back and I cannot wait to see it, even though I can't imagine how it could possibly follow the book.

I liked tonight's episode. It wasn't the war that I expected but it pulled the right people together finally. Plus the Governor is one of the best villains I've seen in a while so it's great that he'll be back at some point.

I felt sad about Andrea. She was annoying but didn't deserve that.

This ep seems to be mostly commercials..

We said the same thing...I clocked it once...there was 6 minutes between commercial breaks.

Very dissapointed in this episode. We kept watching the clock waiting for something really good to happen.

I definitely plan to see this. I was pretty jazzed too. :woohoo:

Well, I really suck at predictions :rotfl2::rotfl2: I really thought we would lose Hershal, Glenn, or Maggie. BUT, the Governor is still on the loose!!

I knew there would be a chance we would lose Andrea, but she wasn't my top pick.

I thought it was really touching that Michonne refused to leave Andrea's side. I like that she didn't let Andrea die alone:hug:

For me, it ended too somber. And I agree, way to many commericals :headache:

Well, we have not seen who each and every person who arrived at the prison is. We've seen some of them, but not all of them. Even the brunette woman that was saved first today - right then, when I saw her I thought, "Okay, she's in the right age range for someone in the group." And then there is Tyreese's sister.

They don't need to bring in 50 age-appropriate women, and not even 10, but I knew they at least needed to add in a couple more women from somewhere because the existing group was going to be getting a little stale (if not dead) at some point!:rotfl2: They need to kind of reinvigorate the male-female dynamic every so often, especially when one of the main females on the show dies.

Oddly enough, this was officially announced right after tonight's episode aired.

I went into tonight hoping someone would finally kill him, but now I'm all psyched he'll be back. He's too good a villian to lose.

I felt sad about Andrea. She was annoying but didn't deserve that.

Agreed. I was at least happy that she didn't die alone, or become a walker.

The episode definitely wasn't what I was expecting (and hey, AMC, could you have stuck a few more commercials in tonight? sheesh), but they laid down enough that it seems like next season is shaping up to be interesting, with the Governor still around, and Carl seemingly turning into a little Shane.

Btw, Talking Dead was hilarious tonight. I miss the show already!

I liked that it was quiet right at the end. It was almost a 180 from the end of last season. The shot of the sun through the field, even with walkers scattered about, bringing the Woodbury people there - it gave a sense that maybe there's still some hope that humanity can win out. Not just live bodies but what keeps us from regressing to the Governor (and probably Governor-in-training Carl). I felt they had lost a little bit of that with evicting Tyrese's group and giving no help to the hitchhiker.

I SO thought Andrea was going to say something like "time to opt out" before she had to pull the trigger.

I psyched myself up for so much more and was left disappointed in this episode.I was already done with Andrea from episodes ago that I was like come on get on with it already and more onto something more exciting!

I thought we would see the governors demise maybe a few other important characters as well. I was more sad over Milton than I was over Andrea.

The whole Carl twist was very interesting, that was a few good scenes. Wish the finales could be 2 hours long with all those dang commercials.

I was really prepared for lots of death and destruction between the two places but that was short lived. Glad so so glad that my main characters are all still around but it was a bit lackluster for me.

Carl sure is a loose cannon right now!

In some ways, it wasn't the episode I was expecting. Having said that, I think it was a good episode but not one of my favorites of the season.

I had thought there would be a high number of casualties in the prison v. Woodbury war. And there were, just not the persons I expected. It never crossed my mind that the Governor would massacre his own people.

Andrea dying? I wasn't surprised really. I had thought she would die at the Governor's hands though. It wasn't until the Governor had Milton pick up the tools that I realized how she was going to go.

And poor Milton. I was really starting to like his character. Who's going to keep an account of events now?

I think the scenes with Andrea and Milton were well done. Even more so the scenes with Rick, Daryl and especially Michonne.

It's good that Rick and company took the Woodbury people back with them. The bad thing, those folks are the ones who weren't able to fight - children, elderly, and the infirmed. The good thing, it's new people and a chance to make new friendships.

Now Carl, he's a scary one at the moment. With Rick having told Carl that Hershel indicated the young man in the woods was not a threat I would maybe sleep with one eye open.

The big question is - what are the Governor and his only 2 remaining henchmen doing now? It's not like they stopped off at Applebee's for dinner. They're still out there. They've few weapons and probably fewer provisions.

I really liked tonight's Talking Dead. Sometimes it's just okay but tonight was actually really good. How about that phone call that came in?

I was thoroughly disappointed in this episode.

The opening was GREAT - from the Gov's eye to wondering whom he was terrorizing was very well done. But really, Andrea, can't you multitask and try to escape while talking to Milton?? And no one from the Gov's troops thought to take him out when he went berserk shooting his own people?

Just seemed a letdown after the last few stellar episodes...

I felt an edit in this ep - a big one. There was a hole somewhere. Maybe they filled it with commercials?

Blah episode to end a blah season for me. Didn't they fire one of the producers recently? I wonder if that is the problem? I have seasons 1 and 2 on DVD, have watched multiple times and would never buy season 3. The whole Gov/woodbury thing just bored me. I was left wanting more from the original characters and their relationships. Something was just missing from the entire season, can't put my finger on it but feel like i didnt care about the characters as i once did. They seemed kind of empty for me.

I don't think there is a lot of dating potential from the people that were left in Woodbury. It will be very interesting to see how it affects Carl being around children again.
I love how they went back to the first time Rick and Andrea met, "I know how the safety works", that was a nice, sweet touch.
I liked that it ended calmly this season. I agree with the pp who said it's like hope that there is still humanity left. We'll see how it all pans out next year.
I have never watched an entire episode of the Talking Dead until last night, it was hilarious! And that phone call, OMG, that was so creepy! Norman "am I hallucinating or did that just happen?" too funny.
Of course when he was asked who would be the one person he would save, I was yelling Carol at him!

I went to Spoil the Dead and am shocked at how many people were disappointed by the finale. I thought it was great. It was especially great that there were no spoilers floating around prior to the airing of it.

I loved that the Governor turned on the Woodbury soldiers and that now Martinez and Shupert think he's nuts, but I love that he will be around for more. They needed to have SOME threat on the horizon... it can't be a happily ever after. I also see Carl as becoming a threat, now, too... he's turning into Shane!

I loved the opening scene... "You kill or you die, or you die and you kill." Andrea dying totally surprised me! I thought Milton would save her, not eat her! But the thing that annoyed me even more than her pedicure was that there were way too many pauses in her quest to get free. She would be alive if she hadn't stopped to have a conversation with Milton every thirty seconds.

It also seems like Rick is done seeing Lori-- he's moving on.

Overall, I'm not really sure what people expected-- If the Governor had died, it would have been too much closure, in my opinion. There were a few previous episodes this season that I thought were boring, set-up episodes, but this one was not one of them.

When I had seen the amount of people dying, i wasexpecting a big amounttocomefrom Woodbury as they are mostly nameless. I knew Andrea was a goner when she had so much dialogue.

Remind me though did we see Michone when they returned to the prison?

And are they setting up a Michone/Rick love story?

I Loved! The look on the 2 guys with the governor when he told them to get in. They both had the best looks on their faces. I thought ramierez was going to shoot him at that point.

Anybody else look at the group they brought thinking yeah great these people will be a lotofhelp:rolleyes1

And Milton. Oh how I wish he didn't die like that.
