The Walking Dead on AMC

If you are interested in seeing how the characters in the comics differ from the TV show, I recommend checking out the Walking Dead Wiki. Hours of reading enjoyment there: http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/The_Walking_Dead_Wiki

I would love to. Thanks for the link.

ETA: It looks like a great website, but even when trying to read the comic characters history about someone dead on the tv show (like Sophia), it gives information about others who are still alive and recently introduced (Michonne). I will just have to wait until after the tv show is done and then read the comics. Since there is quite a bit of difference, it will be like one of those books where you can choose what happens next....same overall story, different happenings. Oh, I did read that Sophia's father committed suicide in the comics.

In the last two days I've read Volumes 1 - 6 and Sophia's father was never shown in the comic books. I don't remember them even addressing where her father was, or what happened to him. I'll have to go back through and see if they discussed a suicide that I somehow missed. In the comic, Carol attempts suicide but isn't successful. The Carol in the comic is very different from the Carol in the TV show.

After you follow the link posted above, go to a link under comic character description and you will find it. It could have been under Carol's description, but I think it was Sophia. It was only that one sentence. There was no mention of why he committed suicide, just that he did. Then they spoke about how Carol and Sophia left for safety.

I saw this on another site and just had to repost it.

"If we look at zombies as a species, they are pretty much designed for failure. Their main form of reproduction is also their only source of food and their only predator. If they want to eat or reproduce, they have to go toe to toe with their number one predator every single time. That's like having to fight a lion every time you want to have sex or make a sandwich."

Ok, that is a visual I can live without. :scared:

Are you sure they could even reproduce if they are dead their sperm would likely be as well? Plus if they are already dead and can only die again if shot in the head they don't need to reproduce since they will likely always out number their predator. :thumbsup2

I think he means reproduce as in, biting a human thus creating another zomie!

Maybe "they" is actually the virus and the humans are just the host. If you think of it that way, the virus would "reproduce" through transfer to new host. I don't know. The rest, such as food source and predator could refer to the host.

I'm SO excited!!!:cool1:

The zombie apocalypse is coming soon.

AMC has commenced filming on the third season of the popular TV horror series "The Walking Dead."

Andrew Lincoln returns as Rick Grimes, a former deputy sheriff, who has established himself as the leaders of a band of human survivors of a zombie plague. Sarah Wayne Callies returns as his wife, Lori.

Filming began on May 7 near Senoia, Georgia, according to amctv.com

Executive producer Robert Kirkman confirmed the group of human survivors who spent the first season the road and the second at a remote farm will now seek refuge in a former prison. The zombies will become a more of a manageable threat and other human survivors, led by the evil Governor, pose a greater risk.

"So as much as people love the show, and as high as the ratings are, and as cool as the show is, I feel like we haven't even gotten to the good stuff yet. This season is absolutely going to blow people away," Kirkman said.

Two new cast members have been added to the third season. David Morrissey will co-star as The Governor. The mysterious hooded Michonne, who rescued Andrea (Laurie Holden ) in the season 2 finale, will be played by Danai Gurira.

Fans will be thrilled to learn "The Walking Dead" will return for 16 episodes in the fourth quarter of this year. The first season was just six episodes long and the second was 13.

Ernest Dickerson, who helmed the season 2 finale, will direct the season premiere.

The season 2 finale drew 9 million viewers and has proven to be an unexpected hit for AMC.

The TV series is based on the Image Comics monthly title of the same name. It was created by Kirkman and artist Tony Moore in 2003.

I AM SO EXCITED!

Funny, yesterday I thought about the show and realized how much I missed it, so I had to google it and found that info about the start of next season. It sounds like it is going to be awesome! But October is so far away!!!

I really don't think I can wait.

Can't wait until Oct! Since the end of last season I've picked up collections 1-10 of the comic and I can't wait to see how they translate the next story arc to the screen.

I'm reading the comics too! I went into withdraw, I had to do something! Books 3&4 are AMAZING so I can't wait to see it on TV. Season 3 will be AWESOME!

So did I! I've finished the comics and am, not so patiently, waiting for the
98th issue to be released at the end of the month.

It's very interesting comparing the comic story line to the TV story line.

Up thread someone said they weren't buying the T-Dog character as Tyreese. After reading the comics I don't think that was the intention, I see Darryl's character as the Tyreese from the comic book. Instead of the ax Tyreese carries, Darryl carries the bow and arrow.

Maybe we should start a new thread to talk about the comic book story lines.

Come on October:cool1:!!!!

And 16 episodes, I will be in Walking Dead heaven:woohoo:

Sixteen episodes!!!! I know that some people said last season was often slow but I enjoy a slower pace if they plan to develop relationships. This should be fun. :)

I went to the Chiller Theater convention in NJ a few weeks ago and got to see Norman Reedus (Daryl!!!). The line to get into that section was insane, but I did manage to get a picture (he's in the middle with the sunglasses):

Can't wait for the show to come back, I'm in such zombie withdrawl...
