The Walking Dead on AMC

ROFL he was so nasty! Love all the little princesses on the van too!

That was great! Wear seatbelts! :rotfl2:

Watching the marathon on AMC right now. Daryl's first scene in season 1 was so great. "Why don't you take that hat and go back to On Golden Pond?!"

I'm trying to picture anyone in the Dixon household watching On Golden Pond. :rotfl:

Guess I'm the only one who missed the black humor of when Glenn was engagement ring "shopping" among the zombies at the fence during my 1st viewing. Slipped right by me, and I later wondered where he got the ring to propose to Maggie. Caught it when I rewatched with DH.

Du-UH! :lmao:

Good episode.

I thought that was a great idea! At least he didn't ask first and then walk over and get the ring. Now THAT would have been dark!

Has anyone ever seen a little gem called Zombie Apocalypse? I had never heard of this horrible movie until about 30 minutes ago, when I was flipping through the channels and saw it on Syfy. It is obvious that whoever threw this garbage together in 2011 was totally capitalizing on the popularity of The Walking Dead, but it is nowhere near as effective even though it is pretty gory.

Anyway, the movie is about survivors who escape to Catalina Island...which just happens to be my other favorite spot in Southern California (after Disneyland)!!:rotfl2: My first thought was, Where on earth would zombies be hanging out on Catalina? (because you just know the survivors will find them there). I was thinking of the seaside town of Avalon. It didn't seem very zombie-friendly. And then I remembered that Catalina has all kinds of hills and empty roads and paths. There are bison and goats in the hills too. Plus, there is the Wrigley Memorial & Botanical Garden, which is a creepy place (see the blue link to my Catalina TR in my signature below, which has pictures of the whole Wrigley area)...so I realized that Catalina is probably a perfect place for zombies to roam free!

Who knew? All this time I've been going to Catalina and wandering around up in the hills, and never thought twice about zombies! Is there no sacred place anymore? :rotfl2: What next? Are they going to make a movie about zombies running loose in a Disney park?

I bought it last year at Best Buy for less than $5. Thought it was hilarious. A must see. I can actually understand heading to an island, because once you take care of all the zombies, you don't have to worry about more showing up.

The movie Zombieland had fun with zombies running loose in an amusement park. That movie is hilarous, btw. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=071KqJu7WVo

Watching the marathon on AMC right now. Between seeing Morgan and Duane in the pilot, and now Merle's first episode, it's sad watching these again!

Anybody watching the marathon this week?

I have my DVR set to record all of them. I have only seen each episode once, so being able to watch them all will be awesome. Luckily, my Comcast DVR has tons of room to keep them for awhile!

"Here's an engagement ring. I broke it off a walker's hand." :lmao: Yes, I was amused and wondering in real life whether Maggie would take it, then realized, again, we're talking about a zombie apocalypse show.

I figured out the who and why of who was going to be killed and the repercussions about half-way through.

I avoided this board until I could watch it (and everything else on the internet), because I didn't want to catch sight of any spoilers.

Excellent acting last night.

Yeah, the ring thing was kinda gross, yet kinda sweet. But I guess in the situation they are in, it's really the only option. And it was a stunner!! It was actually fairly creative, I"m not sure I would have thought to do that. I also liked how he didn't even say anything, and she said Yes. Made me sniffle a teeny bit. (before the Daryl floodgates opened).

I had to do a major deletion on my DVR to make sure they all fit. True Blood was spared in the frenzy.... When the Walking Dead is over, I'll be gearing up for my Eric Northman fix this summer! Sorry Daryl... :(

My DVR has some serious issues right now. I'm approaching 10%, since I haven't been home in weeks and we are sooooooooo far behind on several things. I think I might have to let me complete series of the Wonder Years go, since it streams from Amazon now.

Hershel also said to the girls when they were reading the bible passages that he would do anything to keep them safe. That may be a bit of foreshadowing.

I can not wait until Sunday!!

I had a different feeling when I saw that scene. Right afterwards was when Hershel went up to Rick and said "about the thing you are going to do" (something like that) and Rick said that he can't do it (meaning take Michonne to the Gov.).
I thought that Hershel had changed his mind. At first he was against it but after saying that to his girls, I though he had a change of heart and was now going to support Rick, if it meant a chance to keep his girls safe.

Oh man....I need to find that movie!!!! :rotfl2:

That was my thought as well. Herschel didn't look relieved when Rick informed him that he couldn't follow through with it.

My wife did not share my opinion. She thought, as many others did, that Herschel was going to try and talk him out of it.

At that point, I figured Herschel had resigned himself to the fact, that he would indeed sacrifice someone else, in order to keep his family safe, even though it really upset him. I don't think he was upset when Rick said he couldn't do it, I think he knows there are no good options in this world.

I can't believe they would really have thought that the Gov would really keep that deal, and not kill them anyway.

I was shocked and disappointed to see (after sitting through the whole 2 hours) that the fools in Zombie Apocalypse never even made it to Catalina!:rotfl2::rotfl2: Even though the synopsis says it's about survivors who decide to take refuge on Catalina, they never get there -- or we never see them get to the island, which would have been fun! It would have been good to have them to get to a place they thought was "safe" only to discover that it wasn't safe at all! I am guessing that the Catalina Island powers-that-be must have vetoed filming of the movie on the island.

Count me among the Eric Northman fans! I am eager for that show to come back too, even though the plots had been getting a little silly. I love me some Eric!

...Oh man....I need to find that movie!!!! :rotfl2:

It's a horrible movie - bad acting, silly effects, they never get to Catalina, etc. Some of the zombies don't even look like they are actually in the scenes - it's like a few of them were digitally placed in the scenes. But, there is a zombie tiger or some sort of wild cat at the end (near the ocean, which makes loads of sense), so maybe it's worth viewing for that reason alone!:rotfl2:

...I can't believe they would really have thought that the Gov would really keep that deal, and not kill them anyway.

I agree! I was wondering the same thing - how could Rick be so naive as to think (even for a moment) that the Governor would actually do what he said he was going to do? I thought Rick was smarter than that. And if he had any doubts about it, Merle and Michonne had all the details on the Governor to remind Rick of what kind of person he is, not to mention Glenn and Maggie's Governor experiences!

I ended up watching all of the episodes in the marathon last night, except for the final 30 minutes of the last one (because I was sleepy)! Now that Morgan just returned a few episodes ago, it was interesting to watch him in the first show again. His wife actually looked less zombified than the other walkers prowling around outside the house. She looked a little dazed and confused, but she didn't really look totally dead like the others!:rotfl2:

I had also forgotten just how many people were actually set up at that camp in the woods! There were a lot of them! So many people have died along the way.

The "On Golden Pond" reference was hilarious, because it certainly does not seem like something either of the Dixon boys would be watching!

We actually watched it in school, can't for the life of me remember for what class, but we did. Of course, that would be assuming the Dixon boys actually went to school :rotfl2:

I think Rick was just desperate to believe the Governor...he thought it was their only chance of truce. I think he knew, deep down, though that the Governor was going to kill them all-even if he gave him Michonne.

I kind of think that seeing Lori was his subconscious saying "HEY, WAKE UP YOU BIG FOOL".

Oh, and I loved Rick's speech after he saw Lori. That he was wrong about what he said in the woods and that the difference between them and the Governor was the decisions they made and who they were. It was a great speech and very true to Rick and who HE is...gosh, I really think Andrew Lincoln deserves, at the very least, an Emmy nomination for his work this season (if not a win).

I agree, he has been stellar this season (well the entire time, but this season especially), I hope the Emmys do not overlook him again this year.

I think Lori was there to remind him of the man he used to be, and that the old Rick would never willingly sacrifice someone elses life.

I definitely think that Andrew Lincoln's acting has gotten much better, and this season he has been in top form. Even the original bad accent is starting to get better! I think an Emmy nomination would be great!

It would be hard for me to want anyone to win a Best Male Lead in a Drama Emmy this year over Bryan Cranston. If you're a Breaking Bad fan you'll know what I mean. He is on a whole different level of acting...it's really outstanding, top notch work. And it's Breaking Bad's final season, in which his character will probably die, so it would be bittersweet to go out with a win.

However, Bryan Cranston has already won 3 Emmys for his Breaking Bad role. And right now the Television Academy seems fixated on that guy from Homeland, so I think the Homeland guy will win again this year (unfortunately), even though he is not as great and is rather flat.

I would be shocked if the Academy even recognized Andrew Lincoln because I think they probably find it hard to recognize the acting in a zombie show. I think that's what it boils down to for them - they can't get past the fact that it's a zombie show, no matter how good it is! They can't open up their minds.

The Golden Globes are actually a little more open-minded about their TV and film nominees, so maybe we can have hope for Andrew at the Globes in January!

I just realized the Georgia brochure in our office has Rick & zombies on the cover lol

Awesome!
