The walking dead amc #2

Meh. I thought kind of a confusing episode (what was #39, why were they tormenting zombies outside, what was Dwight's fixation on that, what was up with the zombies falling off the bridge...figured it out by reading on another forum and watching TTD. And if I hadn't read the comics I wouldn't get the Dwight/Sherry/Negan dynamic). Not my fave. And that song....stuck in my head now.

I think all the zombies outside were people who didn't fall in line with Negan. They are kept around to remind others what will happen to them. What did you figure out about the bridge zombie?

Yes, all the people on the fence were people who didn't fall in line with Negan. So I'm sure a bunch were friends of Dwight who has to deal with looking at them everyday. The zoombies were falling off the bridge because a car had gone off the bridge and left a gap in the guardrail. I thought it was a pretty good episode, it gave you some backstory on Dwight and you realize he may not be as bad as you thought and that Negan is a pretty horrible person. Felt awful for Daryl I don't see him giving in. Not sure how that will work out. I'm thinking Daryl and Dwight will team up

Agreed. The 39 thing at the beginning was confusing - we see Dwight watching a guy get beat, he writes down 39, goes to what looks like someone's bunk area labeled #39, steals their food, and then starts eating it. I didn't really understand that sequence of events and the significance.

I was also confused. Took me a while to figure out the girl warning Daryl was Dwights wife? I think? When she was at the dr.'s and the test was negative, I thought the baby would be Dwights, but I guess it would be Negasns since he took her from Dwight. Is that right?

Yes. She "divorced" Dwight to save him after they were caught trying to escape with her sister last season.

Yes, that's right. As mentioned, Sherry married Negan to protect Dwight. Negan said he was supposed to marry Tina (her sister) but after she died, Sherry stepped up and married him instead so all was good. I do think we might see Dwight, Sherry, and Darryl band together against Negan down the line.

And when Negan was "offering" Dwight a woman, that explains why he said "No." He wants to be with his wife.. I just thought it was odd the way Sherri jumped off the Dr.'s chair and was so nonchalant when Dwight looked at the test. She was just so normal saying, "It's negative." Like she was talking about the weather. I would think she would be crying and desperate clinging to Dwight, being forced to "be" with Negan etc. But she was just like, "meh, it is what it is." so I guess she is sleeping with Negan. She is just soooooooo okay with it I guess.

I also didn't get the 39 thing. There was a young couple standing over Dwight as he ransacked their bunk. I thought it was their bunk?

I greatly enjoyed the new episode... Methinks that when Carol finds out where Daryl is, she's going to make a field-trip to set him free. lol

I think it was more like she knows what happens when you cross Negan, just like she tried to warn Darryl when he was trying to escape. She pretty much told him to just give in because it would only get a lot worse if he didn't.

I actually didn't think she was so okay with it at all. I think they've just seen the depths of violence that Negan is capable of and are terrified. Right now they are too terrified to go against him so they are doing what it takes to survive and protect each other is my take. I think that will change. You can see some of the possibility in Dwight toward the end of the episode last night. And his wife kept trying to warn Darryl and told him she is sorry, just as he said she would be. I feel like we are just reaching a climatic point in their story and maybe they will team up with Darryl at some point.

I didn't see your response before I posted. But looks like we were thinking the same thing! Great minds...

I guess I can see that, but she just seemed soooooooooo okay with it. I would think she would be resigned to her place, but furious/angry/sad/ about it.

I can see that. I hope they all band together. I feel like Dwight is playing along with Negan, but is really waiting for the right moment to strike. I can't say that I like Dwight, but after last night, I am seeing him in a different light. I felt like he was trying to help Daryl.

I was thinking along a similar line. At the beginning it was easy to hope we would see him get what he deserved but at the end he was somewhat likeable and felt sorry for him.

I agree! At the beginning of the episode, I actually said, "Man, I can't wait till Darryl kills him!" By the end I was thinking, 'I can't wait till he and Darryl team up.'

I know! I wanted Daryl to get that cross bow back and put an arrow through his head.

What were the other "prisoners" doing to the walkers by the fence? They looked like they were running with buckets or something? does anyone know? They all had the same outfit as Daryl, so I assume they were trying to break these people too?

I took the "39" as Dwight making a note about who was getting beat down, and he would go to that persons bunk first before everyone else could pick through their stuff. The person that got beat stayed in bunk 39.
