Plus, I agree with nugov2 and think Maggie is pregnant....especially after watching TD and hearing Scott Gimple's remarks

If it really is true, then they handled this character's death differently than they've written any other main character's death. This character really didn't have a full-circle character arc & didn't have a final "moment," if that makes sense. Other main characters who have died have had more of an episode that's kinda been about them... some final profound words/thoughts, even if we didn't realize it was at the time.

I'm hoping that the other dude fell on our main character & is kind of acting like a shield.

Also, I thought of this during "The Talking Dead" - Remember in the 2nd episode of the first season (which was titled "Guts") when this main character called Rick the same thing the character called Rick tonight? I guess that could be considered a "full circle" moment. Also 2 other similar things happened in both episodes.

But, this main character wasn't included in tonight's "In Memoriam" section of "The Talking Dead," & Scott Gimple's statement was, of course purposefully ambiguous.

I also liked the character's throwback line to Hershel.

I'm telling you....Enid has Judith. And Enid is running with the Wolves. Rick pulling that jar out of the dead wolf's pocket just cements it for me. Why else would the guy have a jar of baby food???

Oh please don't let this be what we all think it is. Let him somehow survive this. So sad if it's real. This episode had me more tense than the last one. How many episodes before we are forced into a break?

I watched "the scene" about 20 times. It is not what is appears to be. The positioning is all wrong. Also, there have been pictures posted of that cast member filming just this last week with characters that have not been introduced yet so the scenes are not flashbacks. The Talking Dead was a bunch of misdirection-none of the cast was there because they did not want to have to answer questions regarding that cast member. Showing the audience reaction and the statement from Gimple was more misdirection. IMO, it is all a fake.

You are so right on all this, for a character of this magnitude, it definitely had shock factor but it was very quick plus TD with absolutely no cast from the show and not one thing in the "In Memoriam" sequence raised more questions.

In my mind though, TWD has always been realistic with character deaths where they just can't come back, let's say by a dream sequence or some miracle.

This character surviving a mass herd of hungry walkers because another human falls on top would not be very realistic....the zombies would not just be focused on the one body especially with this character's head in full view and the screaming.

Chances of this character surviving this magnitude of walkers would make me doubt the writers because character deaths, although not wanted by fans, were very believable in that particular situation.

I am hoping it's not real but then again, if it's not, I will be disappointed the show would go that way.....

I don't know what to think. For TTD to ignore this death in the "In Memoriam" clip is highly unusual. OTOH, if this is all a "fake-out", I'm not sure if I'd be angrier than I am if it's real. Don't play with my emotions, show!!

Me too! While I think XXXX bit the dust, I am holding on to a tiny sliver of hope. I am just not 100% convinced yet.......

I think he is still alive. I think it was either a hallucination, or he crawled under the dumpster and he will pop up in next weeks episode with a story to tell. This is why I think that:

Nobody saw the death, so how will the group ever know? He was being eaten by hundreds of walkers so there will be no "body" to identify, and he won't turn up as a walker, his body would be just bones left. I can't see them just leaving his death hanging out there with no closure for the group.

He was not on the Memoriam section of TD

He was not on TD. I don't buy the explanation Chris Hardwick gave, "We wanted to give everyone time to process his death." Um no, when have they EVER done that, they usually parade the person out so they can say, "See he is alive in real life people, he is fine and we are going to get through this!" They always say it is important for the fans to see the character who was killed off is okay.

Everyone was too cagey on TD, they were talking in circles and not confirming or denying.

It does not add up for me.

I predict he is alive and Enid is with the wolves.

This is the main reason I think so too. Will they just always wonder why he didn't come back? That would be absolute torture.

I also think this is WD answer to "big" character death without killing a main character. I think they have backed themselves into a corner. For the first few seasons, WD was KNOWN for big character deaths. It was part of what the fans loved and feared every season finale or season opener. But now that we are in the 6th season, the fans are very invested in the main characters and don't want to see them killed off. In the first few seasons, fans were not really too attached yet to the characters. At this point, the characters are like family.

Sometimes I think they introduce characters just to kill them off to satisfy the fans. They bring someone in like say, Noah. People like him, he is sweet enough, but he's not Daryl, then they kill him off. The characters I think they will never kill off are:

Rick
Daryl
Glenn
Maggie
Michonne
Carol

Even though Kirkman says nobody is safe, I think these 6 are.
