I was down in Coral Springs over the weekend- mainly attending a seminar- but did make it out to the Wakodahatchee Wetlands one evening. Traveling light- I just took the D300 & 70-300vr but we had a very nice time. I would recommend stopping by if you find yourself in the neighborhood.

Here are a few pictures...Lots of birds...

Beautiful shots as always Jeff. The third one is my favorite, but they are all excellent. Thanks for sharing:thumbsup2

love #3, but the rest are great as well..we went to nature art show this past weekend and these sure beat what i saw there by 6 miles...it was juried as well so:confused3

You were in my backyard! Wakodahatchee is my regular stomping ground - it's about 10 miles from my house. I've got a whole gallery of that place:

It is amazing for bird sighting as well as other small wildlife. Very nice shots you've got from there - and you got some nice light by going later in the evening. If you're ever back down there, check out Green Cay Wetlands too - it's about 1 mile away, and between the two of them, there's practically not a bird in Florida you won't see.

you have some really great photos in your gallery...although i hope they are cropped since 72 mm lens + that close to an alligator=:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I'll have to see where those places are if i go back to fl...

Don't worry - my last camera, the one with the 72mm telephoto lens, was a Sony DSC-H5, an ultra-zoom camera. It had a 6x crop factor for its small sensor...so when the EXIF reads 72mm, I was at 432mm!

Thank you for the compliments. I go there so often, I always have the chance to retake just about every bird I've snapped - so if I get a not-so-good shot the first few times, eventually I'll nail a good one. It's the old law of large numbers! :) The more you shoot, the better your 'best of' gallery looks. ;)

I started that second gallery when I bought my DSLR this spring...I retired the ultrazoom and now shoot with a fairly hefty Tamron 200-500 lens on an APS-C sensor with a 1.5x crop factor...that lets me zoom to 750mm equivalent...very helpful with the birds that like to hide in trees!

Nice shots.

We've got a lot of gators down here as well. We see them a lot when we go canoeing. I haven't shot too many.

Here is a gallery from a Nikon shooter friend of mine that likes to shoot at Brazos Bend State Park. It's a nearby park full of gators.

Here is a shot another friend took when I joined them on an outing at Brazos Bend. I was setting up to get a shot of a pretty big gator when it decided it wanted to be where I was. Being courteous, I not only gave him space, I left my camera gear behind in case he wanted to use it.
