Signed up on a waitlist in April for 4 nights in late October at either Beach Club or Boardwalk for a Studio. Absolutely nothing yet even though I look every day at an additional three resorts. This is frustrating but I know its Food & Wine as well as the MNSSH event.

Getting the feeling there are not enough resorts out there.

Also just saw the latest overhead pic of Star Wars construction. Wow is it ever BIG! So will the increase in ticket price once it opens.

I'm not following your logic. Seems to me there are plenty of resorts out there... I mean everyone has home resort points and can book at 11 months. If you want to switch you wait till 7 months. Expecting to get a 4 day wait list at either BCV or BWW during food and wine doesn't seem very realistic to me. Could get lucky on a day or two here and there but not 4 days. If that's where you want to stay, then you need to own there to book that time of year. Otherwise, you're really taking a shot in the dark and hoping to get uber lucky.

But I still can't see how that would translate to "there are not enough resorts out there".

As the wise man has said "buy where you want to stay".

AWESOME PICTURE! Thanks for posting it!

Sorry to hear about your waitlist still not coming through. Something might start coming up closer to the 31-day-out mark since those that cannot go won't want to have their points go into holding and may cancel around then. Given your past visits, BWV and BCV are places you stay often...so I am sure you know the drill and may even own there already. We enjoy staying there as well. We even considered adding on points at one of them...but their contracts end so much earlier than our SSR points and those of the newer DVC resorts (and, God willing, we will still have plenty of years left in us to visit WDW, even after our SSR contract ends). So we have held off for now...especially since we cannot take advantage of the 11-month window right now. With our hectic schedules, we do not often get to plan ANY of our vacations at 11 months out anymore.

I'm with you, though. I hope they open up a new DVC resort within walking distance of EPCOT and or DHS. Isn't there one in the plans already? Somewhere by the entrance to EPCOT? I don't know if it will have DVC rooms or not, though? Or if it is really going to happen. But it would be nice if it did.

Thanks! I own at the Beach Club and have always gotten rooms over the last 10 years and I try and go at least twice a year. But as Member services advised, October is one of the most popular times (I thought that with the kids back in school, it would have been easy to book) and every resort is booked solid the last week of October.

J&R's Mom, they are building a new resort near EPCOT across the main road and a gondola system to transport people from the hotel to EPCOT and HS. Too bad they never built a monorail to Animal Kingdom. But in 2019 with the anticipated opening at Star Wars, I can see a huge rush of people going in there. So when an opening date is announced, I'm booking.

YEAAAAAAA! The wait list came through after 5 months for October. DVC called me immediately when it opened up. Now all my wife and I can talk about is what restaurants to go to, what rides to get on, what groceries to order, should we add another day etc....
We were resigned to the fact that it was unlikely to get a week so late and I figured I'd have to start booking the points into next year. My biggest fear is the airline price this close to the trip but we can deal with that.
Thank you all for your encouragement. However, since it is in six weeks, The Slinky Dog coaster, Mine Train and Avatar Flight are all sold out re fast passes. Oh well, we will stand in line.

Next year DS 23 will join us to go to Star Wars in late Fall 2019 when it opens. Will book that trip right at the 11th month for early November.

Which did you get....Bwv or bcv.

Waltsgirl: BWV Garden / Pool view. They had more of these in inventory. Planned to fly down Monday for 4 days and thought about adding an extra day at the beginning on a Sunday but the flights out of JFK are $200 MORE each for one extra day. Not really worth it. Thanks Delta.

The late fall opening of Star Wars is not very specific. Some people are predicting early December for an opening date. So for us the first time we will see it will be spring of 2020.
