The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge

If I had to chose between a studio and a room in the lodge I would go with the Lodge room. Better views, 2 queen beds and newly rehabbed room and new bedding. :thumbsup2

if it was between a lodge room and a one or two bedroom, then I would chose the Villas.
See, I'm just the opposite. I love having the sofa in the studio -- the room feels much bigger and I hate the idea of sitting around on the beds. ;)

My 2 girls and I are staying at VWL in October and they're already fighting over who will have to sleep on the pull out. We just don't find the sofa beds nearly as comfortable. I think to be fair, they're going to have to take turns.
So, if one actually has to use the sofa bed to sleep, I'd prefer 2 real beds......but, if one doesn't need the extra bed, then I prefer the sofa.

Gosh! I TOTALLY disagree with that!! No WAY do I believe they give the worst views to DVC members. We own there and have never had anything but a beautiful view.

Other than that infamous "dumpster view", the views are of the woods, the quiet pool/lake, the side of the WL, or the "woodsy brush" between the villas and the bus stop.

HTH!!

got that view once and the next three times - they tried again.

I am not the only (by any means) DVC member who received it.

what got me mad and made me start posting the picture was there were very nice rooms available. when I started to say no what else do you have. well those were great locations - some lake views - other near the lobby.

did complainted to DVC about WL - so maybe someone took me seriously. I hope so. I really disliked that view.

Pat,
Thanks for posting the view. I made note of it, and hope to avoid it this October, as well as the lone studio without a balcony. Fingers crossed :dogdance:
But as for the dumpster view.....I'm assuming that whole line of rooms has that view, so that's quite a few rooms on all floors ? I only stayed at the VWL once before and had the quiet pool view.

you got my favorite view - that is the hardest one to get!!!

the service station is at the end - so not a lot of rooms have it - just the last few villa on very floor - except the first. shurb hides it from the first.

definitely try to avoid it. so check the room number first!!!

We want to stay at the Villa's next summer. The group going would be my family (wife, me, 7 yo son, 2 yo son) and my wife's parents. Would we be comfortable enough in a 1 bedroom villa? I know about the issue regarding the number of people to be able to book it but my oldest son will be on our friends reservation via DVC.
will we fit and not kill each other??

TIA,

John

you want to put 6 people in a 1-bedroom. tight squeeze.

there is only a king bed in the master, and queen sleeper sofa in the livingroom. I just don't think you have enough beds?

but if you are willing to take the queen sleeper sofa and allow her parents to have the king bed - there is room for a pack n play in both areas.

now this will work only if you oldest son is in the other villa. if he is there too...

I would get a 2-bedroom just so no adults needs to sleep on the sleeper sofa. at my age they are pretty hard on your back. but you are still young.

You'll need a two bedroom with six people.

you missed my point, i was asking if it was livable. I'm ignoring the 'number' of people restriction right now..

same question.

same answer that is alot of folks for just a 1-bedroom. how do you feel about sleeping on the sleeper sofa.

Pat, thanks :)
I was planning on giving her parents the bedroom. Our sons will sleep on inflatable beds( The Wiggles beds, don't ya know)
We don't spend a lot of time in the room, but her parents won't 'go' as much as we will and be back at the room more. This way they can put the youngest down in their bedroom and be out in the living area. We can move him out to the living area when they want to go to bed. My wife and I don't care cuz if we are back in the room we want to sleep. We are trying to stay together but without going CRAZY on the costs and 600 a night is, in my opinion, crazy.

your friend did tell you that you could rent points (reservation) from a dvc member - didn't he.

You can get a 1 or 2-bedroom renting a reservation from a DVC member next
summer and spring break time for (other times are less - expect palm, easter, christmas to NY weeks)

sun-thurs leaving on Friday only per night (at $10 a point)

1-bedroom $300
2-bedroom $400

if you really want the 1-bedroom - that is alot of people for one bathroom - now it does have a shower stall plus a whirlpool tub - but it only has one toilet.

I agree with the others. You will need a two-bedroom villa for six people.

Yes he did absolutely. My fear of that is, well a lot of things. I don't know the person i'm sending all this money too. If something happens, one of our kids ends up in the hospital or something we are out the money. which is why i was looking at the one bedroom. I really do want the 2 bedroom but I think my wife would kill me <grin>
it's very frustrating :(

completely depends upon who you rent from.

some member allow you to cancel if they can rerent the points. Others don't.

get a contract and you should be fine.

you might consider 2 studios - that would also sleep 8. no whirlpool tub, no shower stall - just a combination bath, no king bed.

a studio has a queen bed and a double sleeper sofa - plus a kitchennett. but you get two of them.

Yes, that's a viable solution: Two studios will fit six very comfortably.

same question.

Unfortunately, you are not allowed to ignore occupancy limits in DVC villas. These are owned by the members and Disney manages them for the members. You are free to stuff another type of non-DVC room. However, Disney will not allow that either because of fire regulations. :sad2:

At that price we may as well go to AKL with a Savannah view!

Only the suites permit six in a room, and they start at $640 per night.
