The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Owners & Lovers Group - 3.0

We're doing a coast-to-coast trip, WDW then DLR, and I'll be in VGC in 19 days. Anything you want me to try to find while in WDW?
Aww thanks! We just returned from WDW. If I can’t secure the new DVC shirt I will have a 2nd chance in December. So kind of you to offer. Sounds like an amazing trip!

Just completed our first stay at the Grand Cal and it was everything we hoped it would be!

We actually bought resale at SSR at the end of last year and this was our first stay on points and what a place to start our DVC journey. We were able to snag Friday and Saturday nights in a 2 Bedroom Villa right at 7 months. We flew down Thursday night and stayed in a Hyatt at LAX on points. We got to the the Grand Cal around noon and had the good luck of our room being ready! We were on the second floor right outside DCA and within 10 minutes, the kids were able to go out to the balcony and say hi to Dale!

We had 10 people in our room. My wife and I were in the room with the king. My cousin's family of 4 (kids of 8 and 2) had the room with 2 queens. My 12 year old shared the murphy with grandma, 7 year old had other pull down and 9 year old slept on couch cushions on the floor.

I was worried about having that many people in the room but it was no issue at all. It was great having 3 full bathrooms too. And plenty of spaces for stroller, luggage and car seats. We even had another family of 5 join us for dinner on Saturday evening.

We had an instacart order delivered shortly after we arrived. We ended up eating 3 meals in the room. That was great for cost savings and allows the kids to not have to be as contained as at the restaurants in the parks.

It was a little cool Friday but the kids still enjoyed our resort door. Spent a lot of time at the pool. Then hung out at Downtown Disney.

We did Early Entry on Saturday and the dedicated entrance was a little crowded but not too bad. And it was so nice throughout the day being able to run back to the room as needed. Kids have Web Slinger accessories so nice to grab those before we rode and not carry around all day.

Early Entry on Sunday to DCA was amazing. We walked right up to security and got in the parks right away. We had packed all of our stuff up but hadn't checked out yet. Another benefit of being so close was me and my cousin went back to the room at 10:30, packed up some souvenirs, refreshed our snack and water bags and then called bell services to grab our stuff. The guy was wonderful and was able to take everything.

I had seen some be disappointed with the refresh and I am sure that makes sense for those that stay there often. But for our first visit, we just had a great time. It contributed greatly to maybe my favorite Disney trip. So great to have the space to hang with family and let kids be kids.

Won't be in the next year but can't wait until our next stay here :)

This type of thing is what made me fall head over heels for VGC. Glad you had a great stay.

I was bored and doing the virtual room tours on the DVC site.

Does this door in the 1-bedroom go to a closet or is it just utilities or something behind it?

10 people in the room…. no wonder these things get beat up so badly….

These are not hotel rooms where a corporation pays for the upkeep…. we OWN these and we have to pay for the upkeep.
