The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Owners & Lovers Group - 3.0

It’s going to make a miserable morning experience…. Cash guests are going to be pissed… definitely not worth $330 a point direct for gross old shower heads, no early entry, and extremely crowded and slow security lines into both downtown Disney and DCA….
I bought VGC just so I could avoid the poors...now I'm the poor. 😭

That's interesting. I can't remember having to do that for the DTD entrance. For DCA you do have to scan in but I thought that was for showing you have a park ticket rather than proving you are a hotel guest.
The DTD entrance was always open to everyone, they used to check keycards in the morning for the DCA entrance but I haven't seen them do that in a long time.

I'm a rope dropper. During my last trip in July, they checked my keycard when I used GC's DCA entrance for ETPE, but not later in the day. Sorry I can't be more specific about what time they stop checking for your keycard to use GC's DCA entrance.

But this is a super major bummer about no more ETPE, and Pixar Place guests being able to use GC's DCA entrance. Security lines in DLR are so inefficient compared to WDW.

I call BS on their excuse saying ETPE isn't widely used. It seems like a penny pinching move, IMHO, but that doesn't sound as good for PR.

I would much more respect them saying "hey $hiz out here in CA is expensive and we cant afford it anymore" than them feeding me a line of bull that people aren't using it when we all see and know that it is being utilized.

So they are replacing a perk that members could use every day, to avoid some crowds and could be used to get on multiple rides (if they were quick or had time), with something that members can use ONCE per TRIP for ONE ride that does nothing to avoid the crowds?

Talk about a downgrade

This news has me feeling all sorts of frustration. I can’t believe they would get rid of an everyday perk for a 1 time only mediocre perk. Just wow. And with the prices of Disneyland tickets, LLMP, and costs of the Grand - I’m seriously rethinking my vacation strategy. I really hope their cash price stays take a serious hit so they have to add more value.

Ok…. who’s going to be the first to book a 4 day stay with each day as a separate reservation… telling MS NOT to auto combine… and then calling Grand Cal a week before and making sure they know it’s a continuous stay for room selection….
I’ve been wondering what I can do to break up my existing January stay for Disneyland half.

Where is everyone writing their complaint emails to?

If it worked this flawlessly I would. But they for sure would make me check out... then I bet they'd put me back in the same room!

I have done this with part VGC points in one UY and part AUL points in another UY. They don’t make me leave the room, but the system does check me out and charge the bill after the first stay.

Once again, I call the hotel (not DVC MS) a week before hand so they notate it’s all the same stay and keep me in the same room.

My guess is that each trip would get a LL…

We purchase LL every day… so an extra one over an entire trip doesn’t move the needle.

Yeah, could book the first/last night (or both) on one use year if single nights are available at 7 months , then have the middle booked with my VGC points in the other use year, then get 2 or 3 LLS lol

ETA Still that is so dumb though. It costs them nothing to let us have one each night. And even that would still be a downgrade

Is this also a secret way to get daily housekeeping? :rotfl2:

Some people are doing split stays at WDW so they get a free waterpark day on their mid-trip "arrival" day.
