So much confusion on if the VGC entrances are for hotel guests only or not. Disney really should lock down a policy and stick to it. With that said with every stay I will fill out the survey saying that entrances via VGC should be hotel guests only. The lobby area by the restrooms are so so busy with traffic due to people cutting through to use the entrances that are not staying on property. https://www.disboards.com/threads/dlr-newbie-hotel-question.3954979/post-65765154

I'm not really familiar with the area around VGC or anything on the west side (since we have mostly stayed on Harbor until recently.)

When you say people are cutting through to use the park entrances...where are they coming from exactly? Do you mean people coming from DTD and going into the Grand Californian to use the entrances into DCA?

Coming in via DTD I assume. Parking structure maybe.

Many coming from westin and surrounding hotels. Pp hotel cutting through vgc ...less now with new nicely done entry to dtd by vdh.

Update- the PP entrance was closed at 12:30 when we returned from exploring a bit. Someone said it’s closed for entry at noon- but open for exit all day. This seemed like what we saw too.

That’s an unfortunate change. We use that entrance all the time when we’re staying at VGC and often enter the park around lunchtime. I hope this is temporary for some reason and returns to being open all the time.

Really?! That sucks. I thought only hotel guests could enter through the front door.

Though now that I'm thinking about it....when we walked across to the hotel after parking our car, I don't think we were stopped and asked if we were guests. Hmm.....

I have no problem with DLH and PPH or dining guests using them as well but when the DTD line extends inside halfway down the hall towards the lobby- that can not just be hotel guests! In the morning, it extended back to the building but not inside. This was about 10AM and we were not asked for our key either time. But if they wanted to enforce guests only, I guess they would.

Yep and yep on both. This trip hopping out to Starbucks in the AM took quite a bit of time.

They just need to get the security scanners like the ones at WDW where you don't have to take bags off and you just walk right through.

True! Which is good to be thorough but we were behind a woman who had a backpack stuffed completely full. He took everything out because there was no way to just shift stuff. I thought I had scoped out the bags in front of me and missed this one, lol! A no bag line would help.

This is a real bummer. This was an amazing entrance to DCA after an afternoon nap.

If you think it’s a bummer as a VGC owner, imagine how much of a bummer it is for VDH and PP guests.
