I've been leafing through the new version of the UG--daydreaming about an upcoming trip--when I realized that we never follow the touring guides.

Just curious--since most of you are like my family who have traveled to WDW many times over the years--do you follow the touring guides? If so, did you notice a difference from your regular touring style? Since we go fairly often and we stay for at LEAST 7 days, usually more, we tend to take things as they come. If lines are short and we feel like riding Space Mountain or Rock-n-Rollercoaster over and over, well, then that's what we do! We have a few must-do's and if we miss something, we know we'll be back again.

I also crack up at how many reader letters there are about how frightened their children are over different rides. "You rate Cinderella's Carousel as a zero for fright factor but Junior was so frightened we couldn't get him on anything else for the rest of the week!" :teeth: You know the ones. Obviously, you know your child better than any guide book author--if he or she is that much of a nervous Nellie, perhaps you should try the ride yourself first or postpone the trip until he's older. :teeth:

I used to create my own. Then my wife told me to knock it off. We're on vacation. Since joining DVC, I make a mental list of things I'd like to see, but the knowledge that we'll most likely be back in the not too distant future makes everything more flexible. I do always try to have a fastpass for later. Other than that...not really.
I too get a kick out of some of the Unofficial Guide comments. Hey, there are just some things that I love over and over...things I would never miss, and sometimes they are out of the mainstream.

The Unofficial Guide tours are set up to get you on as many attractions as possible. That's not what Disney is all about to me, so I never follow 'em

I do my own thing, but I've seen so many people following them to the letter that I'd think they're not too advantagaous.

:rotfl2: Sounds like my DH who brought me over to the non-planning dark side.
