The Unofficial Chatterbox Thread! Everyone is Welcome!

I had my car washed on Sunday. I wanted to wash it myself but it was way too hot outside. I drove it to the local car wash and the cashier asked me where in the heck everyone was. She said it was sooo quiet. What's funny is that about 10 minutes later a bunch of cars showed up. :rotfl:

I finished reading Comfort Food by Kate Jacobs this past weekend. It's a good book and I enjoyed reading it. She's the same author who wrote Friday Night Knitting Club.

I've been scared to take the convertible to a car wash. I can just picture it ripping the top off.:rotfl2:

I'm always the veggie & fruit tray person at potlucks. I hate those prepackaged ones from the store, so I make my own. I always put the regular fruit & veggies, but then I like to try different things, just to make it unique and get people to try something different.

I'm afraid if I get a huge tray that they won't eat it. :confused3 Maybe chips and salsa? :confused3 They have really good salsa at costco that comes in a plastic jar. It's called Jack's Famous Salsa and it's really good.

:rotfl2: My bf refuses to take his car to a car wash. He insists on washing it and waxing it himself. :rotfl2:

I wrote a 2 page letter for my little sister to read on the plane, in case she gets bored. I made it humorous and told her to have a good trip. She promised to read it when she gets on the plane but nooooo she just couldn't wait and read it right away. :sad2: :rotfl2:

Think I'm going to head to bed now. Have a good night Pix. :cloud9:

I used to like their cream cheese salsa with the Stacy's pita chips. But the last few times I went to Costco they didn't carry the cream cheese salsa. Bummer! Pretty much anything you get from Costco is tasty.:thumbsup2

My mom finds something she likes at Costco and goes back to buy more and they stop carrying it. Happends almost every time. :confused3

I am a crafty person, and I have no idea what "Mei Tais" are? :confused3

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Baby carrier... or cat torture wearing device?

What she said!! it is SUPER comfy.. for us and the babies. I like it more than the Bjorn..

It's been a bit cold this week 60's and very windy. Such a change from our hot and humid-ness the week before.

My body can't decide if it wants to feel "good" or grumbly with achy joints, "run over by a truck" feeling, UGH!

We're going to a local indoor (uhh it's MN, of course it's indoors!) water park for the next two days (4 pm to 4 pm pass), the warm water will feel wonderful!

It has a lazy river, hot tubs, bucket dump splash area and a "toilet bowl" style slide. The boys get a kick out of the toilet bowl thing, the idea of being flushed... swirling and sliding down into a small hole to plunge into a deep pool... gives me the willies.

E and I have gone together on the tube slides, fun stuff.:)

Well except that one time
He shifted on the tube and we flipped over at the end.. glub glub glub.. sputter... He refused to go again after that.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Had a little hiccup on E's paycheck, apparently the district had over paid him all year. They readjusted by taking this large amount off his check (end of school year), leaving us with.. ummmmm not enough to cover all the bills. :scared1:
Had to do some quick reorganizing of bills and accounts.
It peeves me though, if he had some forewarning we would have made plans. Not an anxiety moment of "oh crap this automatic payment is going to bounce!"

They also didn't pay him his stipend for the training, accounting HR "didn't know why" huh??

This is not the first screw up, they "forgot" to take out his portion toward the pension for several months. Now he's playing catch up with extra $ taken out until next year.

They also took out pension when he was just an after school worker (as a student). He didn't qualify for retirement benefits, he was only working part time about 12 hrs per week. :headache::headache::headache:

Alison should come and kick some accounting butt! :thumbsup2

Good morning! I hope you all are having a fabulous day. :cutie: Today is my b-day and I'm officially 29! :faint: My family is MIA but my parents surprised me with a bouquet of roses. They had my aunt sneak into my work early in the morning and place them on my desk. :goodvibes

One of my co-workers said I look like a teenager so I told him he's going to get a promotion! :rotfl:

I'm on my way, just gotta let the broom warm up first.

If I had messed up an employee payroll that badly I would have just written it off into employee benefits. Big rule in accounting, don't screw up payroll. If you do, get it corrected immediately.

That being said, I also work in a private enterprise and understand that there are much stricter accounting requirements when dealing with governmental agencies. So a school accountant is obviously required to go back and "make it right" if at all possible. Since you are dealing with public monies, I understand how they need to fix things. In a private company such as the one I work for I can discuss it with the owner, determine that it's not something that we want to create "employee discontent" over, and make sure we don't do it again.

Well there is that one OLD lady (Melody) that posts on occassion. ;)

Speaking of birthdays, the grand celebration of Garcia birthdays is set to begin! Found out for sure which hotel, we had a vague "Super 8 close to your place with a pool" which pointed to the creepy one with horrid reviews.. nope, it's not that one..thank goodness!

It's actually not all that close to us. The reviews, very nice. I feel much better now. :)

Tomorrow we have one more day of splashing around the water park (it was great today!), tidy up the apartment and make a few things for a picnic lunch.

Thinking pasta salad (organic pasta free after coupon, carrots $1 a bag at Aldi's, mayo 50 cents a bottle after coupons, cheese from Aldi's for $1.39 for 8 oz) , a run to Target for 10 cent an ear corn, and hop next door to our bakery thrift store get some buns (less than a $1 for the good ones) for hot dogs (Oscar Mayer 89 cents a pack after coupons at Target) .
Maybe make smores (grahams, marshmallows, chocolate .. all 3 for 50 cents total !!!)
Mountain Dew for the guys to drink (50 cents a 12 pack).

ohhh charcoal too, darn.. no really good deals on that ................ yet. ;)
