The Ultimate Disney Bag

Okay I'm gonna try this. I don't carry anything. I leave everything on the stroller except my KTTW card goes in my pocket and my cell/camera goes with me too. I can't stand carrying anything. I don't even carry a purse at home. So this is how I go to Disney.

But! When I was teenager and went I used my Jansport book bag. I don't know fancy language but it was the one that has one strap. It was great. It was light weight and comfortable. If you want something smaller I'd suggest a messenger bag. Other than that I got nothing. Good luck all these DiSers know what they are talking about buy definitely go check them out for yourself try them on and walk around the store. You'll know the perfect bag when you see it ;)

I think the Baggallini Paris bag would hold 5 diapers in the middle section. I had to packages of hand wipes/cleaning wipes...they equal probably 2 diapers.

If I was taking a stroller, I would pack two bags. One that could stay in the stroller with diapers, wipes, snacks, water, etc. And a small purse that I kept on my person for money, kTTW, phones. I see no need to take the rest of that stuff with me every time I park the stroller.

We don't do strollers any more so I have significantly cut back what I take in the park. I either use a small crossbody bag - I have several different Vera Bradley bags that I like or my Crumpler DSL 4 million dollar home bag. In addition to the camera, it holds: money, id, tickets, phone, small bottle of advil, a few handy wipes (the individually wrapped ones), chapstick.

This is what I did last year and will do this year as well. Tiny little Overland Equipment bag that was big enough to hold my iPhone, cards, cash and even my small P&S camera. Everything else was in a diaper bag slung over the stroller handles or stuffed in the basket underneath.

I know you don't want a fanny pack, but I actually liked that this bag could be worn as one if I wanted to. I have a really bad back so having the option was nice.

Has anyone tried carrying the Kavu bags in the parks? My daughter has the backpack style and I keep wondering if I should steal it to carry when we go. They also have a cross body hipster style that looks like it might work well.

For our past 6 trips to Disney I have used a Travelon Convertible backpack and loved it. It held up well, however, my sister bought the same one off of ebay and her's only lasted 1 trip.

This year I wanted something new. Since I couldn't find another Travelon that I liked I bought 2 baggalinis: the urban (pink) and the enchanted (black). I also bought my sister the Brussels and my mom another one (I can't remember the name) but it converts from a cross body to a backpack. Hopefully these bags will do their job.

Before I drop some serious $ on a Baggallini, I wanted some fresh opinions on the ideal bag for WDW. Crossbody? Backpack? Is the Baggallini worth it?

I don't know yet exactly how much stuff I'm going to try to bring in the park, but I don't have a good track record of keeping it light. I'll need diapers, wipes, sunblock, and those small ponchos from Walmart, just thinking off the top of my head. I don't bring my own snacks, and we're not lugging a camera this time - relying on PP+ and iPhone cameras.

We will have a stroller, but I'll want to wear the bag on rides that all four us (me, husband, D5, S2) can go on.

Don't bother with any fanny-pack recommendations; I just can't go there. :) THANKS!!

When my kids were smaller and I carried their stuff, we used a back pack and I had a fanny pack - the only place I ever used it, I swear! I was on vacation and didn't care what people thought. It was convenient and hands free. ::yes::

Now that my kids are older and carry their own stuff, I usually carry a small cross body bag and a small backpack/cinch bag for sunscreen, ponchos, snacks, wipes, water bottle etc. This weekend when we go, however, I am switching to just a backpack - the Mickey one that was $15? with a purchase of $50? or more at DTD in June. It is larger than what we need, but when else can I use a Mickey backpack?? :thumbsup2 Plus I get tired of having a strap across my body...rubs on my neck and bugs me. DD, who only takes a backpack to the parks, assures me I will find it liberating not to carry 2 bags. We will see. I will probably freak out a few times thinking I left my purse on a ride. :rotfl2:

I have a Baggalini cross body bag and took it on our trip last October and didn't like it. I didn't feel like it had enough room in it and I hated having to drag it over my head anytime I wanted to take it off. I also brought my Vera Bradley Go Round Tote with me on that trip and ended up using it instead. Plenty of room for my DSLR, my son's autograph book, water, etc. I like that I can switch shoulders if one gets tired. Maybe it's just because I'm used to carrying a purse anyway, but I liked this option better than the cross body.

For my personal stuff I usually use a Vera Bradley crossbody. I don't think it would have enough space for diapers or my SLR. I usually wear my SLR crossbody if I bring it, rather than stow it in a bag.

If DH and I are bringing more "stuff" into the park...like sweatshirts or a small blanket for parade watching...we usually go with an Eddie Bauer backpack which is similar to this one. Eddie Bauer Backpack

I've also used the Baggu Backpack with great success!! I love their bags!!

I LOVE my stowaway bag from L.L. Bean. http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/69232?page=stowaway-day-pack&subrnd=0 It is the lightest weight backpack I have ever owned and it holds everything and more for my toddler. It also has two generous sized water bottle pockets. I sometimes forget I even have it on. It really is that lightweight. As for the Baggalini, I really didn't like it! Having something jammed between my bosoms kind of drives me nuts, but I know plenty of people love it.

During our 4 Disney trips, I have used a plain backpack. I carry autograph books, camera, ponchos, ziploc bags, etc. Nothing fancy ~ extremely cheap (it was my college bag) ~ durable ~ comfortable.

I must be strange because I switch my Baggalini to the other shoulder all the time, then it just rest on my stomach/hip, versus my butt. I also have the Donner. I like the Baggalini better, the fabric is more stain resistant and I like the strap pocket for my tickets :)

ETA: I just realized that I won't have to carry tickets this year.....or my Passporter since I can get all that information on my travel lines app.....this may be my lightest year yet :)

I bought my Baggalini at TJ Maxx before vacation this year. It was water proof which was a huge plus! I would try there for a good priced one!

I also have the Baggallini Messenger. We have had it since 2007 and it has had a ton of wear. Besides all of our Disney trips, it comes on day trips to places like the Zoo, amusement parks, hiking, picnics etc. Here is my honest review:
(Just as a note, we try to only carry one bag for the family, so we need a moderate amount of stuff and my bag has to be neutral enough for my husband to carry, it can't be overly feminine for this reason)

Pros:
-6 years and this bag looks like the day we bought it.
-Zipped up tight it's water resistant, handles Splash and KRR well
-The size is perfect, it carries a lot but doesn't wear like it does.
-When we are using it, it becomes my purse, and it has pockets for ID, credit cards, etc in it's own compartment, I like organized bags.
-Really good water bottle pocket as well as one for sunglasses on the other side of the bag

Cons:
-The strap does not stay adjsuted, over the day it slides down and the bag ends up resting on my butt or hip
-I agree with others about the lack of versatility for the shoulder strap (although in my case, when I get tired, I do switch; to my husband's shoulder)

Overall, I love this bag. Sometimes I search around for the flawless bag for me and have not found it. But I'm never sorry when I keep using it :)

I have and love this bag also. Been using it for years. I also had a problem with the strap not staying adjusted when I first bought it. I adjusted it and put a large safety pin in it and haven't worried about it since:)

In the past 6 months or so I have started using a crossbody as my everyday purse, and I am not sure if I can ever go back to a shoulder bag! So the fact that my Baggallini is a crossbody won't be an annoyance or adjustment for me, thankfully!

From my personal experience I prefer a cinch backpack bag.

I have tried a cross body bag and wasn't a fan. My main problems with it were that it kind of got in the way & started to feel "heavy". I noticed that after a few days my shoulder that I had it on was beginning to hurt as well as my back. The less important issues were that with where it laid was unflattering in pictures and gave me strange looking tan lines when paired with tank tops. Throughout the trip I bounced back and fourth with wearing it is a crossbody from left to right and tightening the straps to wearing it as a shoulder bag on the right side to give my other shoulder a break. I know other people might love them but it gave me nothing but problems.

With the cinch bag the bag feels lighter and the weight is more evenly distributed. I did not have any shoulder or back pain after switching to that type of bag. I do not carry a whole lot in my bag but after a long day it can really weigh you down so a good purse is important....I would suggest a cinch bag to anyone :)

I like a small backpack. I've always done a cinch sack before, but the drawstring can start to hurt after a bit. This year I am taking Thirty-One's new backpack purse. I like that the straps can be worn four different ways so if one way starts to get tiresome, I can change it to crossbody or something. Not sure how it will work out, but giving it a shot. I do like that my cinch is waterproof. My new bag is not. I'll probably end up taking both.

It's the end of back to school season... Means drugstores and places like walmart, target, Kmart, big lots will have tone of backpacks on clearance. Pick one with 1-2 larger pockets and at least one small pocket. A water bottle holder on the outside can be nice.

Has anyone tried carrying the Kavu bags in the parks? My daughter has the backpack style and I keep wondering if I should steal it to carry when we go. They also have a cross body hipster style that looks like it might work well.

I use the Kavu singapore. Love it!! Middle pockets holds a lot (snacks, ponchos, full-size sunblock and a few other thing for 2!) and still has room. Middle pocket also has mini pocket for phone, credit cards etc. front pocket is where i kept drink mixes, KTTW card, fastpasses and a few pins etc. back pocket is where i kept medications, bandaids and the like. Strap never slipped, i could use it on both shoulders or like a purse. Used in park 7 days, rope drop to close every day and no shoulder or back pain. As long as this bag holds up, i will never take another one!!!

I have a Kavu crossbody that I use on a daily basis. I have preschoolers and use it as my purse and their "big kid" diaper bag.

However, I plan on taking a backpack style bag in the parks, I want my bag to be completely out of the way.
