The Trip That Almost Wasn't - December '09 (We are BACK!!!! TR to start soon)

LOL...drive across the country to DL and back. Sounds more like National Lampoon: Vacation.:rotfl: Good luck!

Okeydoke Carla - it took me a while but I'm finally on board for your PTR/Mini-TR!

I remembered all the trouble you had trying to get your trip together last September, all the on again/off again stuff and money issues. Wow, sounds like it has been pretty eventful just getting things going for this one too.

Well hopefully all the icky stuff is over with and this one will be everything you dreamed of. Mucho cool of you to pay for Rebecca and her hubby's room for her 30th! :woohoo:

Great idea about combining your dining with resort decoration viewing. And I think you changing your dates to the 3rd - 11th will be perfect, all the decorations without the big crowds. And nice bonus that it was $64 cheaper - you're already recouping from the money you lost on the rental downpayment:goodvibes

Nice to see the cast of characters, family, old friends, and DIS friends. Say howdy to Sharky for me ;-]

I know it can be a pain to have to keep changing up your itinerary, but being able to make the candlelight processional would certainly be worth it. See now, you spent money on "normal" clothes for your trip. Other than new Asics shoes, all our clothes money has gone into costumes :lmao: pirate:

Oh, and on Chris's 30th - tell him that my 40th was one of the best B-Day parties I ever had. You're only as old as you feel and all that. And doing DLR and Vegas certainly makes it a memorable one. I've driven cross country before, it can be a lot of fun as long as you aren't too cramped and you leave plenty of time to stop and see stuff rather than just driving constantly. I'll be looking forward to your PTR on that one.

That's it for me tonight, I'll check back in later to catch up on your mini TR. Cheers and hope you're having a great weekend!

:lmao: you know, I've heard that from pretty much everyone that I have told about the trip to. I think it's funny!

:woohoo: you found me Mike! Thanks for stopping by and reading everything.

Yeah, last year's trip was ....ugh! This one started out the same way but ever since that little hitch in the road with the vacation home rental everything has been smooth sailing from there.

Thanks! I thought it would be a good idea too and that way we don't have to take extra time to go to the resorts just to see the decorations themselves. I hope it works out the way I'm thinking. And you're right, saving $ by booking the free dining package does recoup some of the $ we lost on the vacation rental. I didn't even look at it that way :goodvibes

I will pass along the hello to Sharky for you when we get together (although she will see that you said that here too )

Thanks, I'm really looking fwd to the CP. I for sure like our itinerary much more now than I did when I first did my itinerary. Plus, I even finagled an extra day at the parks. Cause I'm sneaky like that  I do plan on getting some more "normal" clothes for our trip. I be those halloween costumes did take a big chunk of change. But it will be worth it to see how awesome you guys look at MNSSHP. I can't wait to see all of your pictures when you get back. I'll be taking notes too from your TR for sure since we are going to dlr next year.

I remember seeing the pictures you posted from your 40th on FB. Really did look like you had a blast. I know Chris is looking fwd to DLR. I do keep telling him that 30 is nothing to sneeze at but he's not listening to me. So hopefully this trip will ease the blow. And I think you're right about stopping to see things along the way breaking up the trip. I think we will for sure have to do that. This will for sure be an interesting trip for me to plan. I'm up for the challenge though.

Thanks again for coming by :goodvibes Hope you are having a great weekend too.

So as you all know, I got a new Sony Handycam. Well, I got to try it out for the first time at the nationwide NASCAR race. I wanted to share some of the video I captured there.

This was us walking around exploring the vendors and all the free things ppl were giving out.

This is us at our seats just relaxing. I didn't use zoom at all on this video so you can see how good our seats were.

This is Kevin Harvick (my fav driver) qualifying for the Sprint Cup race the next night.

The line up

The beginning of the race

Harvick winning

Celebration (sorry for the shakiness......I was SO excited!!!!)

I'm REALLY in love with this camera. It was SO easy to use and VERY portable. I think I'm really going to have fun with it at WDW in December and I'm very excited to take it on the trip. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Now I just gotta figure out how I'm going to switch back and forth between my DSLR and my Camcorder

Great videos

Can't wait to see what you tape in Disney

Glad your favorite racer won :woohoo:

 nah, you'll forget I even have the camera out I bet since it's so tiny and it takes nothing for me to start recording. Plus you'll never know when i'm recording 'cause the "record" light is facing me. Muuuaaahahahahahahaaaaaa

Glad it is continuing to roll forward smoothly and you do have a great knack for getting as much as you can out of your vacation/vacation days :woohoo:

Ohhh, I'll have plenty of pics of it all. I'm just trying to figure out how I'm going to have my camera and/or camcorder at the Trick or Treat party without it blowing my costume look. I'm trying to find a battered canvas satchel or something that I can store them in while I'm walking around.

Ahhh, Chris will have a great 30th - a b-day trip to remember and smile back on in years to come :thumbsup2

I hope to be around more regularly now that I'm subscribed and keep up with your planning fun :goodvibes

Great vids! Good clarity and sound! And glad it is so easy to use. Ours is on its last legs, we have trouble changing tapes and you have to turn it on and off several times to get it to work :headache: But it'll have to last us at least one more trip.

Thank you about my weekend - yesterday was JoGro (leaves/grass/branch drop off) and a dump run. Today is pretty quiet except at 3pm I have to go pick up the gear for one of the High School Band's fundraising efforts - the bottle and can drive. I'll be running it for the month of October except for the weekend we come back from DLR ;)

aww thanks for the compliment :goodvibes

Sweet! Ah yes, don't want to throw off the whole costume vibe. I'm sure you will come up with something clever.

darn tootin' he better look back on it and smile! :thumbsup2

Cool! :thumbsup2

Ah sounds like you had a full day yesterday. I cleaned a bit around the house this afternoon. I have little to no energy right now from this stupid cold though so feel like it's time for a nap  That's nice that you're helping out with the school band's fund raising efforts. that's what any good dad would do :goodvibes

Oh yeah, and I meant to say, bummer about your camcorder. Here's hoping that it holds out for this one last trip for y'all. I do highly recommend the Sony Handycam for when y'all do buy a new one. I love how inexpensive they are most of all.

Cool video. :thumbsup2 Glad your favorite driver won the race, although I am not fan of him. I did met him in person a couple of years ago after he took over Dale Earnhardt's ride. He even autograph my ticket.

I am also thinking about video my next trip too. My video gear is...a little unconventional. I will reveal in my TR eventually.

Oh I'm SO jealous!!! He won his first race here in Atlanta his first time driving the #3 car after Earnhardt passed away.

Oh that would be awesome. You totally should take video. Unconventional video equipment huh? That ought to be interesting.

You're welcome :D

Oh yeah, I'll come up with something. And it was a busy weekend, but I accomplished what I wanted to. Hope you get over your cold soon. Yup, doing what I can for the fundraising - gotta get my daughter to NYC!

Yeah, I think it will last - just gotta smack it a couple of times to get it running ;) But when we do buy I'll be looking at that handycam :thumbsup2

oooo NYC huh? That sounds like fun! They going up there for a parade or something? I think you might have mentioned it before but I totally can't remember right now

 I bet that's gonna be funny for others to witness at DLR. ::smack smack:: "And we're rolling!" :rotfl:

You are soooo lucky! I would love to go to DLR, but Hollywood is actually my biggest dream! I am a HUGE Marilyn Monroe fan and some day want to go there and see everything Marilyn! I will have to be sure to read your TR when you get back...that way I can live it through you!

Oh yeah, I've wanted to go to Hollywood myself for quite some time now. I really can't wait. I'm happy to know that pretty much everyone here will be with me for my TR from our trip next year! :thumbsup2 I'm looking forward to sharing it with everyone for sure. :goodvibes Hopefully I'll be able to remember everything through the 2 weeks to do a successfull TR when I get back. It's a good thing I like to take pictures. They help me remember

Thanks girl. I'm excited for sure! And you're right about having 4 drivers helping. I think if it was just Chris and I we would be at eachother's throats by the time we got to Cali

Doesn't it though? I'm really excited about that too. It just looks SO fun even though it doesn't have a specific theme. I actually like that about it.

LOL you and me both girl. I'm so confused by them and can't wait to get my Vegas UG to get everything straightened out.

:thumbsup2

well let's hope that none of the drivers get the other 3 lost!! Such a long trip, the rest might be sleeping while one drives...

I could see that getting ugly. :rotfl2:

:lmao: yeah fingers crossed. What I'm going to suggest before we leave is that the two up front stay awake and the two in the back sleep. That way, whoever is driving has someone to help navigate and keep them awake. Hope it works out that way.
