My reason for using Twitter over Facebook...
- I don't have to "friend" or "unfriend" anyone. No one's feelings get hurt.
- 140 characters makes you succinct. No rambling.
- Know too many people that spend way too much time on Facebook. Just don't have the time. Twitter is fast and easy.

I'm a little uncertain about the announcement that The Trip will be covering more onsite stuff moving forward. What really made The Trip unique was that it wasn't all about Disney. I know my family is in a vocal minority around here, but when we go to Disney, we don't spend all day every day in the bubble. We stay offsite. We eat many meals offsite. We shop offsite. We visit offsite attractions. There are endless resources for learning about what to see and do on Disney property. There are far fewer options when it comes to exploring the surrounding area. That's what I've loved about the show. It introduced me to things I might not otherwise have considered.

I have no doubt that they will do a great job with whatever Disney stuff they cover. I just hope they continue to explore the world outside of Disney property.

One suggestion I sent to The Trip was a 7 in 7 style of off site resorts. I've only had a few stays not on Disney property, but my main issue is always the transportation. From Magical Express to getting to and from the parks, I just tend to stay in the bubble. The only time we stay off site involves us driving down or having to rent a car. This way we have the freedom to do what we want when we want. Then I'm saving some money on a hotel, but giving it right back to Disney parking and a rental company. We loved the Vistana, but missed being able to drink around the world in Epcot and stumble to the Beach Club Villas.

Basically what I want is to drop the crew off at the airport and have them stay at a different off site property...and have to use their resort transportation or a cab. They wouldn't need to do a full day at the parks, but try out the 'free transportation to Disney World' that all these places advertise.

I have a feeling that the Trip will fill some of the void that has been left after Dustin left in terms of the segment, such as the Bracket eps or the "top 10 places to eat" or what have you.
And the DUT show may cover some of the Orlando area stuff too perhaps?

I do miss the segments (or at least some of them). And yes, I wasn't thinking of the DUT show. It sounds like that might pick up some of the offsite stuff.

I'd love to see more non-chain restaurant reviews. In fact, I think I'll email them that right now.

I actually enjoyed all of the segments, except the last one where there was the debate over what was so good that it's bad which morphed into "what would you be ok with going away" which isn't even the point of a "so bad it's good" topic.
the way Shaun and Craig did the universal version was spot on, they had the theory right, the reasoning and train of thought I suppose, stayed on track the whole way through.
That show was a nightmare, kind of like those annoying movies where things just keep going wrong, or that movie with Jenn Aniston and Vince Vaughn where all they do is bicker but if they took 5 minutes to actually listen to each other properly, they'd be golden.
Anyway, I digress. I think the format of the trip, the DUT and the segment will all sort of blur to create the shows that were kind of here this year, but different.

If you're the vocal minority, we're right there with you I've loved learning about different options in orlando from JL, Teresa and Craig! We've never spent much time offsite, but their episodes about offsite options actually made me interested in getting out of the bubble and going to things like Orlando 360. I've also loved episodes like yesterday's about travel disasters that are just about travel in general. The dynamic that Teresa, JL and Craig have is informative while also entertaining. It's been a lot of fun watching the podcast grow into what it has become over the last year.

I really enjoyed the Trip's discussion type shows like should parents take kids out of school for a trip to Disney or this week's show. I love hearing all the stories shared and got a good laugh knowing that Dustin wanted to go to school everyday so he could get perfect attendance. lol I'm sure whatever they do for the show I will like. Also I think Kevin mentioned he would be doing a new show that won't focus on Disney. Perhaps he will be focusing on travel to places outside Disney. Can't wait to see how it all plays out.

I don't actually tweet, but I signed up for Twitter just to follow a couple of people...that sounds really creepy doesn't it? And it definitely doesn't make it better that Shaun is one of the ones I wanted to follow. Yep, I've gotten super creepy since I started coming to the DIS, but I'm among friends, right guys??? You understand, right?!?

I think @pjweaver has a good idea. We always stay off site, but we always drive so while the reviews wouldn't apply to us, it would still be very useful information for lots of off site guests. I see a lot of posts with questions about the shuttles from off site resorts - which ones are reliable, what times do they run. Also questions about proximity to the park, what's the traffic like, what restaurants are close by, does the area feel safe... So good topic, in my opinion. Of course, now that I think about it, maybe the DUT show may cover something like this? Maybe they would cover info about the resorts they partner with?

More non-chain restaurant reviews are also a good idea. Sometimes, we do eat off property and usually are indecisive with all the choices Orlando has to offer. We own a small bake shop, so we like to support independent businesses. More reviews would be awesome.

There's so much potential for the upcoming year!!

Well, I guess you are right. It's just very NOT me. There are very few celebrities that I've ever gone fangirl over. (first time I saw BB King in concert I got giddy and started screaming - my sister looked shocked and asked "who are you, what have you done with my sister?") So, for me, to go to the extent of getting a social media account to follow people that aren't my personal friends or family feels strange. So maybe "out of character" is a better phrase than creepy.

I don't think they'll do anything too drastic with the focus or format. Guessing that its just part of the search for fresh ideas for new shows and a bit of park stuff will show up once in a while. I was happy to hear that announcement but I also recognize that not everyone is. The Trip has its own unique vibe to it and fingers crossed it won't be lost in the shuffle. But my gut is that there won't be much a shuffle, rather just a wider net thrown out to grab new topics. It can't be easy coming up with fresh content every week so the bigger the pond maybe the better?

True, though there is so much in the area to explore. I'd like to see them reach more beyond the immediate Disney area. They did that with Bok Tower Gardens and Cocoa Beach. They could also head west to the Tampa area or east to Daytona. I think anything within an hour or so is fair game.

I agree wholeheartedly.....there are a TON of attractions they haven't even touched on. I am a faithful watcher of The Trip podcasts because they don't focus on Disney (not that I am anti-Disney, but because Disney is *never* our focus on our Orlando vacations).

One of the nicest things about Orlando is there's always something new opening up as the area develops, whether its an attraction, a restaurant or a resort. They have a steady stream of new topics at their disposal. I would rather see them do reviews of various offsite resorts than add Disney-related content. There are other podcasts that cater to that audience.

That's good. I'd like to know more about things to do in St. Pete. I remember it being very pretty there. See, they can give ideas for "split vacations" for people that want to do some Disney, but then want to explore other areas of Florida. That would be fun!

I agree about the Four Seasons. It's on Disney property but I'm really surprised no one has covered it yet.
