Our favourite resort is Wilderness Lodge. For the best part of twenty years, we dine at Artists Point at least once a trip. But as others have said before me, in recent years the whole Artists Point experience is very “ hit or miss”. When it is good, it is fit to be ranked with the other signature restaurants in the Magic Kingdom resort area ( obviously, Victoria and Alberts excepted) but too often now its fare verges on the sub standard. On April 22, we had a dreadful experience. The traditional starter “ Smoky mushroom bisque “ was heavily over creamed. I almost revere this soup which at its best, is heavenly. I couldn’t finish it this time. For the entree, I had “ Seared diver sea scallops , root vegetable puree, heirloom apple, ****akes, horseradish confit, kale.”
The scallops were over cooked- almost rock hard. I had no choice but to send the meal back. The manager came out and apologised. I received a new dish which was more appropriately cooked. But it ruined the dinner when one of four diners was eating alone due to a restaurant error.
I am sorry to have to write this. Over the years, I have had some excellent meals there but these are now infrequent. Artist Point is now - by far- the lowest of the signature restaurants. The bad nights are too frequent to be non representative.
A pity.
