The Tower Of Terror

I have problems with motion sickness but I have tries every ride at WDW. Of course it took me 15+ trips before I finally rode Primeval Whirl.

ToT is my absolute favorite ride at WDW. Last trip I cut the family loose to go ride TSMM at RD while I headed to ride RnRc and ToT until I dropped. I had a blast.

I have spent YEARS of avoiding this ride like the plague...and finally after 18 trips, I DID IT!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED it too! I giggled the whole time while my hubbs swore under his breath. It seriously is my new favorite ride (topping space and pirates...gasp I know!)! I even bought a shirt to commemorate this historic event for me. Haha!

I say go for it! Especially since you've done the Hulk...that means you can handle anything!

ToT is one of the only rides that gives me anxiety as I am waiting in the queue. I think it is because you can see and hear the people screaming as the elevators go up and down as you walk down Sunset Blvd! My DH will not go on most intense rides, so I am left to experience it on my own. I am happy to say that, even though I get nervous leading up to boarding the ride every time, I always LOVE it and am sad if I get a less intense drop sequence.

You never know if you will hate it or love it until you try it! Good luck on your next visit!

Thanks! I hope I love it!

I know what it's like avoiding ToT like the plague, but I'm gonna do it and hope I love it!

I hope you do too!! Even if for some odd reason you don't....look at it this way...It's a check off the good ol WDW bucket list! That's how I approached it. Lol.

I admire your courage! I have never been on TOT either, and I'm way too scared to try! I hate roller coasters and the stomach-drop feeling.

I went on Escape from Gringotts in universal and LOVED the ride, except for the drop in the beginning. I rode it multiple times, knowing itd be great once that initial drop was over. I can't imagine experiencing drops for an entire ride lol.

I hope you ride it and have a great time!

I don't feel the drop in my stomach on Gringotts, or Jurassic Park, or the Hulk. I'm hoping I've gotten used to it from going on rides so often and that I won't feel it much on ToT. Fingers crossed!

I was clinging to my friend who had talked me on to it, and sobbing hysterically, I nearly peed my pants.
I have literally been grabbed by strangers -- by the arm, and by the leg...

Fortunately, they also remained continent.

I've never been on a free-fall type ride, but I'm scared I'm gonna hate it! I really hope I love it though.

You're in luck, then -- ToT is not a free-fall ride. And if the sensation feels overpowering, go ahead and scream. I do. Every time.

I wish I had as much excitement as OP for the Tower! Of course I love it, but there is no fear left of it. Did take a scared new rider on it and they laughed their heads off after! If you have ridden any major rides, its much more thrilling than Tower, which is not a straight free fall. Fun tho!

The sensation is literally bouncing. Yep, bouncing up and down like an interdimensional trampoline. At one point, you get a slight airtime feeling, but its only once towards the end. The Hulk forces are MUCH stronger.

You'll have to let us know how it is when you do it! Maybe I'll consider it on my next trip lol

What I like about the TOT is that even though the drops and rises are sudden, you don't really feel like you're being
jerked hard. To me its a very smooth feeling - hope that helps

So I rode it twice yesterday, and we got a few more of the "down" rides instead of the "up" rides we got last week. They were very fun, I'd say the drops were maybe ten feet or so, not real long, and not compared to any serious hill on a rollercoaster. Fun tho! The whole elevator was full of laughter, not screaming, which made for a fun energy. It's SO not to be missed. When I see Cinderellas Castle, Im like "aww, a castle." When I see the Hollywood Tower Hotel, I think "Yes!!! I'm home!!!!" Its my definite "you are in Disney!!!" Feeling, and Spaceship earth is the other. No idea how many times I've ridden ToT, must be hundreds. It's our jam!

Hello all!

I recently returned from my trip and am happy to tell you I did Tower of Terror, and it was a lot of fun! I did it twice, and am planning to ride it on my next trip in a couple of weeks! It was definitely a different sensation than the drops on other rides at Disney, but I liked it! Thanks again for all the help!

I took my 7 year old son to WDW last Christmas. His first ride was ToT. For the rest of the three week stay, he wouldn't go on it. When driving by the ToT sign in the middle of the highway, he would close his eyes. At home, he doesn't like it when I occasionally play the Twightlight Zone theme. Every other ride, he loved, even space mountain and Rock & Roll Coaster. We are going back for 10 days at Thanksgiving and have at least two half days at HS. If he still won't go, I'll have to sneak off at some point to ride it.

I hate thrill rides and HATE that dropping feeling and I survived. Just do it. It sucks if you hate that feeling, but it's over relatively quickly and at least you'll know what it's like. If I went back and the person I was with wanted to go on it, I would go on it again. Again, it's a crappy feeling if you hate the drop feeling, but short enough. :)

Excellent.

I don't recall seeing this thread when you first posted, but while reading through it tonight I just couldn't understand how you can like the Hulk, etc, but be so afraid of a ride that tall 4 year olds can ride. :)

Now don't go crazy and ride Dr Doom. Doom is a *fall*. TOT is a *pull*. And with Doom you are outside. It's not a good idea LOL.

Screaming during drops, or just breathing out forcefully, really helps to stop that stomach feeling. Makes for some funny ride photos, but oh well.
