Does anyone have this for their dog? I had seen the commercial for it when it first came out, laughed at the ridiculousness of it, and didn't think about it again.

But, DBF came home the other day saying he wants to go get one for our pup. I guess a coworker has one for her dog, and swears by it. Now, our dog isn't afraid of thunder but neither is hers. She says putting it on him when she leaves for work keeps him calm all day, instead of running around tearing things up and barking. She also said it keeps him calm in the car, where he used to bounce all over and actually be a hazard to her, he now just lays and watches out the window.

So, if you have tried the Thunder Shirt for your dog, what were your results? We want to be able to leave the house without the neighbors complaining about his endless screaming/yelping. Being a little calmer in the car would be good too, but he's not a huge problem there.

I have one for my boxer. It works very well. Before TS he was a pacing, panting, ball of sometimes destructive anxiety in storms and high winds. Since TS, it goes on at the first hint of anxiety and he's a different dog--calm and relaxed. He usually falls asleep within minutes. I only use it on him occasionally.

A friend who has a couple of yorkies used it everyday for their separation anxiety. Eventually they got used to wearing it and it became less effective.

I purchased one for my Golden, who hates thunderstorms, unfortunately it did little to calm her. I think thundershirt is a good product, BUT, just like people, what works for one, may not work for the other. You won't know till you try!

I have one for my Cairn Terrier....it really works *unless the storms are VERY bad. When it's really bad he requires meds. But ONLY if it is severe T-storms. Before the Thunder shirt we relied solely on the meds so I'm very glad we purchased it. My mom has a Shizu and the shirt works for her dog as well.

My vet, who has several dogs, has one that has issues. He uses it on that dog and has had excellent results. I know a couple of other people who have been pleased with the results too, but as another poster said, dogs can have different reactions, just like people. I would be sure to get it from somewhere that had a good return policy just in case.

I just ordered one, as a last resort. Labradoodle went blind from Progressive Retinal Atrophy, and is VERY anxious and depressed and unhappy. Hoping it will help him relax, even a bit, until he gets used to being blind.

My dog thinks his legs won't work when he's wearing one. No kidding - he lays there like Jello. I discovered this when I put it on him for the first time. He was in my lap and I put him down and PLOP! He doesn't move. I don't know if that helps with anxiety as much as it just makes him melt.

My aunt uses one for her anxious sheetzu (spelled wrong to avoid being blocked from text) that had problems sleeping because she was obsessively chewing and licking on herself all night long. Works really well. My aunt is very careful to not use it constantly as they will desensitize over time.

Go to YouTube and search for thunder shirt and cat. There are a bunch of videos of cats falling over and refusing to move in their thunder shirts. Hysterical! Dogs might like it but cats are having none of that nonsense.

I used to have a Chihuahua that would just turn over if I put a dog blanket on her. Wouldn't try to walk, get up, anything - just fall over sideways. She just had to be cold.

I'm so sorry. I hope it helps.

 I hope the thundershirt can help your furbaby.

Our border collie mix loves her thundershirt. It's helped her tremendously since we brought baby home. She became really anxious and overprotective of the house once he arrived, and has now calmed down. :goodvibes We just bring it out and she very willingly lets us put it on her.

It helps but does not totally take away our dogs terror of thunderstorms and boy do we get some good storms during Monsoon season, which is just starting. UGH! I do hate this time of year cuz those storms are almost everyday and they freak my dog out big time. The worst are in the middle of the night with our dog trying to claw her way into our bed.

I bought some drops on Amazon called Rescue Remedy and those seem to work pretty well. They are supposed to be all natural. I put a few drops on a dog biscuit and she calms down nicely. She only gets her jacket and the drops if it's a thunderstorm or fireworks. Otherwise she's fine with regular rainstorm.

Awww poor thing. Hope it helps.

No need - the breed is Shi Tzu :)

Cheaper than a Thunder Shirt: a tight-fitting t-shirt.
