Hi everyone, I'm Stitchfan531, and this is the official trip report thread for my GradTrip 2011! I'm a second generation DISer and Disney freak, and this is the very first WDW vacation that I've completely planned out myself (with some help from my two tripmates, of course!).

A little bit about me and my tripmates, and our trip. We are three best friends who graduated from high school this past June. We were originally going to have two more people in our group, but for various reasons they had to drop out. So now, with twenty two days, six hours, and 59 minutes to go before Departure Day, our group numbers three-- me (Stitchfan, your host and chronicler for this trip); Mouseketeer1 (or princess:, for speed of typing), a certified Disney Princess and my absolute best friend since second grade; and Mouseketeer2 (or ), the queen of sarcasm and drollality, whom I've had the distinct and rather unique pleasure of knowing for all four years of high school.

So how did we come up with this insane idea of going down to the World in early August? Believe it or not, it was actually my awesome, super-vacation planner mother :wizard: who suggested it, right out of the clear blue sky, while we were sitting in Ohana's waiting for dinner about two years ago, the summer before my junior year. Fast forward about five or six months, to January of my junior year, and I pitched the idea to my four best friends, who all loved the idea. Fast forward again seven months, minus two members of the group, and we have everything planned out and almost paid for, and now we're just counting down the days!

So, unless something completely unexpected happens (our reservations get cancelled :scared1:), check back in twenty two days to follow along as the Three Mouseketeers take on the World!

See you next time!
Stitchfan

I'm in! Can't wait to hear more about your plans! Your trip is soooo close! popcorn::

Thanks so much! I'm driving myself crazy with anticipation right now... and I've still got to go to work five days a week! :headache:

Yeah, I had some problems trying to keep my mind on work during the school year, instead of just DISNEY, DISNEY, DISNEY 24/7! :rotfl:

It's even worse when you've been planning for a year and a half! I must be ill or something!

:rotfl: I want to start a PTR for our hopeful December 2012 trip, but Mom said I'd better finish my TR first! :rotfl2: I like to plan ahead...sometimes a bit too far ahead! :lmao:

LOL, I'm the same way! :rotfl2: I think it's kind of starting to get on my family's nerves, because we've only got two weekends left to pack me up for college, and here I am talking about "August" all the time! :lmao:

:rotfl2: We must have similar minds or something! We had tons of end of the year testing that I needed to study for, but instead my mind would be wandering towards something Disney. What college are you going to? (You don't have to answer that if you don't feel comfortable) Have fun packing!

I'm going to James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Right now I don't know what to be more excited about-- Disney, or college! Should be an easy choice, right? :confused3 Oh, well, I can be excited for both! Like Saturday-- I was cleaning out my closet and desk in preparation for packing up for college, and I had my old Classic Disney CDs playing on my iPod the whole time! I nearly died and went to Disney geek heaven when "Portabello Road" from Bedknobs and Broomsticks came on-- I'm a huge packrat, and that song is like the packrat's anthem! :rotfl:

Both Disney and college are pretty exciting! I LOVE Bedknobs and Broomsticks! And yes, that song is the packrat's anthem! :rotfl2: What's your favorite Disney movie?

It's a four way tie between Lilo and Stitch, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Aladdin. I've practically memorized the last three, and I'm a HUGE Stitch fan (couldn't you tell? ;)). I've also practically memorized the audio commentaries on Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin:rolleyes1. Ahh, the joys of geekdom :rotfl:.

I love all of those movies! Whenever we take long car trips, Aladdin is the movie of choice, so we too know the audio commentary pretty well! Thing3 recently discovered Bug's Life and has declared that her new favorite movie!

Thing3 has excellent taste! I'm also a big Pixar fan, we've got every movie they've released on DVD to date with the exception of Ratatouille, which my mom didn't really like (rats in a kitchen?! :scared1:)

Want to experience something spooky? Start watching Bug's Life at around eleven o'clock, with the audio commentary. It has to be at this time, or else it won't be as creepy. ;) Have fun!

I'll have to tell her you said that! We love Pixar too! I LOVE the Toy Story movies! We always trick-or-treat with our best friends from church and 2 years ago we decided to do a Toy Story themed group costume! I was Mrs. Potato Head, Thing2 was Jessie, Thing3 was Bo Peep, the oldest of the boys (15) was a green army man, the middle of the boys (13) was one of the aliens and the youngest of the boys (10) was Woody! This past year we did a Kim Possible theme! Sorry for rambling! I'll have to try that sometime!

Don't worry, once the TR portion of this TR begins (19 days!!), you're gonna see a TON of rambling. I have kind of a roundabout way of getting to the point, which means that my TR posts are probably gonna be SUPER long! (And that's without pictures! :upsidedow)

I love watching all three Toy Story movies in chronological order, to see the advances in technology those guys have made. My dad once looked at the resume requirements needed to be a programmer for Pixar, and some of the things were really out there (as far as computer technology is concerned-- I don't pretend to know much about it, but my dad was seriously impressed).

I love the Halloween costume idea! I haven't gone Trick or Treating since sixth or seventh grade (around 13-14 years old-- five or six years ago), but I used to love dressing up! Now I just answer the door for the Trick or Treaters, since my mom doesn't like doing it, but I still love seeing all the cute costumes that the kids (and some of the adults!) dress up in!

The advancements are so amazing between the three Toy Story movies! We love dressing up for Halloween, especially since we started doing group costumes! Like I said, we've done Toy Story and this past year, Kim Possible. Got any ideas for this year? We tend to plan WAY ahead of time since my grandma makes most of our costumes.

Have you done Indiana Jones before? Your dad could be Indy, and your mom and you girls could each be one of the ladies-- Marion Ravenwood, Willie Scott, and Dr. Elsa Schneider. If someone doesn't mind crossdressing, that person could be Mutt Williams.

Or you do the Mary Poppins Jolly Holiday scene-- Bert, Mary Poppins, Jane, Michael, and a Penguin Waiter.

Whatever you do, I wanna see pictures! :thumbsup2

Wow! I'm impressed that you are taking a trip with friends, it sounds fun :)
I can't wait to see what you have in store (and I love that your mom was the one who had the idea for the trip!)

I, personally, would love to convince my family to do a Pinnochio group. I could be the blue fairy. ODS could be Geppetto, DD could be Figaro or Cleo, YDS could be Pinnochio....I would say DH could be Geppetto and DD and ODS could each be one of the animals, but ...... that has less chance of happening than the first scenario. I think it could be a cute big group theme though, especially if you added in donkey boys and the villains :)

I hope you post pictures of whatever you decide! Do you have pictures from previous years?

Indiana Jones is a great idea! Mary Poppins seems like it would work great for our group. We need costumes for 4 girls (ages 15, 14, 11 and 6) and 3 boys (ages 15, 13 and 10). I've thought about trying to convince them that we should be the 7 Dwarfs (sp.?). My mom is trying to convince all of us to dress up as Waldo (as in, Where's Waldo?)! :rotfl:

I am HORRIBLY afraid of those donkey boys! They are some of my worst memories from childhood! Yes, we do have pictures of the previous years. Do you want me to post a couple pictures of our Toy Story and Kim Possible themes?
