The Three Caballeros Day 3 - AK Florida Mall & a Meet

In true first day style we were awake at about 2am, 3am 4am and gave up and put the TV on at 5am. We had an ADR at Donald’s Breakfast at 8:05 so we were showered, dressed and heading for the bus by half 7. Little did we know that this was the quietest we’d see the bus stop for the rest of our ASMu stay.

We didn’t have to wait too long and got to AK just before 8am. We were soon through the turnstiles and heading into an empty park for breakfast.

The breakfast was nice with some unusual African choices. As expected Aodhan ate about 3 slices of bacon and that was it. I was so glad that we had the free DDP otherwise that would have been some expensive bacon . We had our photos taken with all the characters and Aodhan had great fun dancing around with Mickey (Niamh was too cool to do this)

Goofy was the last one and once we’d seen him we left and headed over to the rope that was just in front of the Safari. Even though it was past 9am they didn’t drop this rope until they could see the first park visitors walking over the bridge towards us.

Niamh was first on (although there was already a family sitting in the truck when we got there.) It was a brilliant safari, we got to see some Giraffes up really close, including a baby one, we also saw the elusive Cheetah and a group of Rhino. As usual we saved Little Red.

When we finished on the safari we went off on the train to Rafiki’s Planet Watch where we petted a few of these

We almost watched an operation on a porcupine, but he wasn’t co-operating and they couldn’t get him in to his cage so they could bring him to the vets room. After Rafiki’s we made our way to Camp Minnie Mickey but only saw Goofy and Koda as the rest of the lines were too long for Aodhan to wait. We went and got some fries for Aodhan, a cookie Ice-cream bar for Niamh and a couple of drinks to share and then went to see the Lion King show which was as great as ever.

Niamh was feeling tired when we came out and I suggested leaving our trip to the Florida Mall but she insisted she was up for it. We decided to leave the park now and got a bus over to Saratoga so that we could get a taxi from there. I didn’t realize how big this resort is but it does look lovely. There weren’t any taxi’s there but bell services called one for us which only took about 10 minutes to arrive. It wasn’t a long journey to the Florida Mall but the driver was very jerky and Niamh started to feel sick just before we got there.

We managed to get to the Mall without her throwing up and once inside I got her a cold drink and she said she felt better. We set off in the direction of the rest rooms and by the time we got there she was feeling really sick again. We just made it into the family restroom as she threw up. When she was finished we went and sat on the seats near Starbucks and I got one of these.

We sat there for a while until Niamh felt able to go on, I felt really sorry for her as she looked very pale. All we did was head over to Build a bear, which was the reason we’d come to the Florida mall in the first place. Niamh built this girl

and Aodhan built this lad.

While we were there I sent a text to Mazzy on the off chance that her and Sam were still in the Mall. They were and they started walking around to us. We met them outside the Aveda store and they’d had a great day shopping. Sam had got a lovely new i-pod which Niamh really liked the look of. We had a chat and took a group photo and said we’d meet again at MNSSHP.

We walked back down the mall together and we left them as we went into the Disney Store where Niamh got a skirt she wanted to wear to MNSSHP. Aodhan said he was hungry so we went into the food court where he got some pasta but Niamh and I didn’t have anything.

Niamh said she was up for the short walk to Target so we set off and it took about 5 minutes to get there. We probably stayed here for an hour and got some leggings for Niamh to wear with her new skirt, some Yu-Gi-Oh cards for Aodhan (yes, I know I said the obsession was over, but boy was I wrong) and a few other bits and bobs. We walked back to the mall and I got a Starbucks to drink on the way home.

As soon as we got in the taxi, Niamh said she felt sick again. The driver gave me a plastic bag and some paper towels. Niamh was sick a few times but thankfully, as she’d not eaten anything, it was just water and it didn’t go in the car. We got back to the All Stars and I gave the driver an extra tip. I went to reception, as we should have got some MYW vouchers when we checked in yesterday. They found them for me and as soon as I got them we went back to the room.

Aodhan got in the shower and while he was there Niamh got sick again. After that I ran her a bath and gave her some calpol. She felt slightly better after the bath and got into bed. She was asleep by 7pm. I went to the food court and got some pasta for Aodhan and a Bud Light for me. When I got back to the room I realized you needed a bottle opener for the beer. Not to be denied, I managed to get it open using the door frame (very classy) but not before cutting my finger.

I caught up on the trip reports and Aodhan played on his DS and watched the TV quietly so as not to wake Niamh. We went to bed at about 9pm.

I know, she was really sick so it would have been awful if she hadn't made it. We did start power walking between bins on our way to the rest room just in case

What a shame for your daughter to be poorly.

Your episode with your Bud Light and the door reminded me of the time when I was trying to open a bottle of wine. The hubbie who was the expert was away. I tried with this really bad corkscrew, ended up fed up and thought I would get a screw driver and force the cork into the bottle. This worked fine but, unfortunately, the force, forced the wine to spurt all over the kitchen ceiling. I confessed my disaster when he came home, it was a bit hard not to miss it, as it was red wine. The hubbie had to decorate when he came back.
