25th September 2008

We were awake at about half 7 this morning and once we got our act together we went down to Roaring Forks for breakfast. When we came back to the room I sat out on the balcony with a coffee and the newspaper and just chilled, it was one of the bonus moments of the trip. While I was there I spotted the lifeguards doing some training.

Niamh and I wanted to go swimming but Aodhan didn’t so he sat by the pool and played his DS while Niamh and I swam, I also took a few photos around the lodge.

Although it was sunny it was a bit windy so felt chilly when you were out of the water but a quick dip in the hot tub soon sorted that out.

We were going to Hollywood Studios today to ride Toy Story Mania again so once we were showered and changed we went down to wait for a bus. We didn’t have to wait too long before we were on our way. Weather wise, it was now a perfect day, warm and sunny but with no humidity. It was lovely walking around and just soaking up the atmosphere. First up was some McDonald’s fries for the kids and then a walk to Writers Stop for a coffee for me. We sat on the comfy chairs while the kids ate their fries and I drank my coffee, chatting to a CM while we were there.

When we finished, we went around to Toy Story. We used our return anytime fastpass from the other day, and grabbed another one before they all went for the day.

We spent a lovely day at HS doing some of the things we didn’t do the last time, including Indiana Jones and the Backlot tour. At around 5pm the kids were getting hungry and with no chance of an ADR anywhere in the park, we thought we’d head over to Fort Wilderness and try Trails End. On the way, there was a nasty accident just past the entrance of the MK ticket booths, the fire department, paramedics and sheriff were there. I just hope no one was badly injured.

The detour took us to Fort Wilderness first and we got off to wait for the internal shuttle bus. If you were into camping or had an RV, it looked a really peaceful place to stay. We didn’t have long to wait for the bus and once it dropped us at Settlement Depot we walked over to Trails End, who were thankfully taking walk ins. It was a funny little place and sort of reminded me of a slightly up market Golden Coral. The kids though drinking out of jam jars was great and we also had to laugh at Niamh, who came back with a big bowl of chili with some cheese on top only to realise, once she took a mouthful, that it was cold salsa

When we finished, the kids had a game of chess

We walked past these guys and decided to take a hayride.

They were called Bill & Bob and took us on a 45 minute trip. There were three other families with us and we went down by the far edge of Bay Lake,

and through some of the camp sites where there were some huge RV’s. Some of them looked really cool decorated with inflatable Disney characters and lots of lights. When the carriage ride was over, we took the short bus ride back to WL and then came up to the room to watch Sky High on the Disney Channel.

Tomorrow - Epcot for the first day of Food & Wine

Lovely photos Jakki. It sounds like you had a nice, relaxing day :thumbsup2

Lovely photos and report. Your son looks like you couldn't wait for you to finish your coffee and be out in the park.:)

You got some great shots of my beloved Wilderness Lodge.

So glad you took a hayride--and then told us about it. All these years I thought the hayride was a booked event and had no idea you could just hop on. That's going on my Next Time list.

Hardly recognized your kids sitting on the coffee shop couch without their usual beautiful smiles. They didn't so much look unhappy, as just a little park weary. I always say--it's hard work having this much fun.

You find some of the best things by accident and we'll be doing that one again.
