16th September 2008

We were planning to get the coach to the airport tomorrow, it would have meant getting up at 5am and then having a 3 hours coach trip to Dublin. Aodhan, who isn’t the great at traveling, was starting to get stressed about the journey already so I decided the best option would be to travel down today and stay overnight. With that in mind I booked a night a Bewleys Dublin airport.

I had a restless night sleep and got up at 6am followed almost immediately by Niamh who also couldn’t sleep. Did the usual morning things before taking kids to school.

I had a quite a few things to do in town, Steve came with me and we had a coffee once all the jobs were done. We got home at about lunchtime and I did on-line check in before finishing the small bit of packing (we were only taking hand luggage so not much to do)

It was soon time to collect the kids from school, they had something to eat and then got changed. A friend of mine was taking us to the train station, she came to collect us and dropped us off in time for the train.

The kids did a bit of train spotting

It was an uneventful journey, we played cards

They were really awkward to play with so Niamh found another use for them.

Once the card game was over the kids played with their Nintendo DS’s while I read the paper. We got to Dublin at about half 5, it was raining but as there was an airport bus already waiting, we didn’t get too wet. The bus took forever as there was loads of rush hour traffic, but one highlight was that we went through the port tunnel.

We got to the airport at about half 6 and went to get something to eat. In typical pre holiday style it was a McDonalds. Once we’d eaten it we went to wait for the shuttle bus to Bewleys, which didn’t take long. The hotel was nice and our room, which had a single bed, a double bed and a double sofa bed was really spacious. We just chilled in the room, watched a bit of TV and settled down for bed at about 9pm.
