The three BWV Views are now booking categories for cash

I'm not sure exactly how recently the change occurred, but apparently, BoardWalk, G/P, and Standard Views are now booking categories through CRO. For years the only cash View (even with Member cash bookings) was called Standard, but was actually Garden/Pool, and BW & Standard Views were available ONLY on points. Interestingly enough, the cash price on a G/P Studio is notably less than on a BW View Studio - I wonder if this is a harbinger of a point reallocation (increasing BW View to a few more points over G/P View, & reducing G/P View points). The BW & G/P View 1 bdrms are the same price, so I would extend a guess that the new Cash View Categories are experimental for now.

I thought that the BW view was reserved ONLY for DVC, and wasn't't available for cash. Or am I thinking of a different view/resort?

I don’t think any cash differences would be a clue that they are going to adjust the points for those.

But, I had always thought as well that BW view were solely left for DVC. Nothing requires it, but given how few, they booked up quickly.

That certainly was the case for both BW and Standard views at BWV, since members have generally booked both categories early in the 11-month booking window.

A price differential in the cost of cash reservations for BW view through CRO probably reflects a supply-demand analysis telling Disney they can get more money for those rooms, as they do for the BW view rooms at BWI.

It was reserved for points only. I had asked about booking a BW View Room on cash a few years ago, & Member Services found out it was not possible (she really tried). The room was available for points though.

I was curious, so I plugged in random dates on the Disney World website for BoardWalk Villas.

It showed:

Deluxe studio - standard view
unavailable

Deluxe studio - garden or pool view
$542.33 average/night excluding tax

Deluxe studio - boardwalk view
$656.17 average/night excluding tax

1 bedroom villa - standard view
unavailable

1 bedroom villa - garden or pool view
unavailable

1 bedroom villa - boardwalk view
unavailable

no larger villas listed

For different nights, the 1 bedroom villa - standard room was showing at $719.67 average/night excluding tax
and the 1 bedroom villa - garden or pool view was showing at the same rate.
But the standard view studio prices out differently than the garden or pool view studio.

And as far as timing - today is 09/29/2021 and I am seeing cash availability during August 2022.

Okay now I really have to stop procrastinating.

Curious, we have two vacations coming up in Feb and May. We currently have a waitlist for both trips. Would my waitlist be fulfilled before any Cash reservations were taken?

Thanks!

Separate inventory for points and cash reservations. Your waitlist only pulls from points inventory. CRO/DRC can only pull from cash inventory.

There are multiple ways for unbooked points inventory to be moved to cash inventory. The biggest pot of those comes from members trading their points to Disney for a stay In Disney Hotels or to cruise on DCL. And Disney can do whatever they wish with any points they control, including offering them to cash guests.
