The Thompson Twins...heard of them?

I would very much like to thank you for

1) Getting "Doctor Doctor" stuck in my head, and

2) Making me feel old

As a thank you gift, I was thinking of sending one of my prizes cassettes, the one with the Thompson Twins on one side and Howard Jones on the back. But my guess is you won't have any way to play it :)

Hahahahhahhhaah. I love Howard Jones, too!!

Read the thread title and immediately "Hold Me Now" started playing in my head. :rolleyes1

There were a couple of music threads that got me looking through songs from the 80s and I came across a group called The Thopmson Twins. They're not twins, they're a trio, a white guy, a black guy and a girl. I LOVE their music. I've been watching them on youtube and wow I missed out on a great group of performers. Does anyone here remember them? They were slightly before my time.

One of the first outdoor concerts I went to. LOL

I was a high schooler..I had John Taylor Bangs and Thompson Twins tail......both bleached white.....oh and peg legged jeans with day glow socks and penny loafers.

I admit I belonged to the neon clothes loving, you can never have enough non biodegradable plastic accessories, John Taylor bangs wearing, deniem jackets can never have too many pop star buttons, Little Kings drinking, Rocky Horring watching, Bueller? Bueller?....generation. Life was good back then.

This thread reminds me of when my son asked me a couple of years ago, "Mom, have you ever heard of a song called Afternoon Delight?" :rotfl:

I still have some skinny ties......one with a piano keyboard on it!

"you say I'm a dreamer...we're two of a kind
Both of us searching for some perfect world you know we'll never find"

Saw this band when I was still in school...loved them! Last I heard one of the guys and the woman had moved to New Zealand and opened a recording studio and were producing for other bands.

Little known Thompson Twins trivia: Thomas Dolby (She Blinded Me with Science) was part of the band on their very first album (Wait, what's an "album" - ed).

:rolleyes1 Um.....member of the class of 85 here.....yup! Love 'EM!!

I too am a child of the 80's and loved The Thompson Twins, Howard Jones and Duran Duran. I saw The Thompson Twins in concert at Pine Knob. It was my first concert.

Saw them way back, Don't remeber with what other bands. Like them alot.
They got some really good songs like THe Detectives.

I just listened to Into the Gap. GREAT song, so exotic-sounding! East is east, west is west, two different colors on the map...

Another one who saw them in concert. I believe they were on the same bill as Chris Isaak (opening for him, I think).
