There were a couple of music threads that got me looking through songs from the 80s and I came across a group called The Thopmson Twins. They're not twins, they're a trio, a white guy, a black guy and a girl. I LOVE their music. I've been watching them on youtube and wow I missed out on a great group of performers. Does anyone here remember them? They were slightly before my time.

:lmao:Well, I remember dancing to Hold Me Now in the bar so, sadly, not really before my time. I loved that song.

Hold Me Now is also one of my top favorite songs ever. I too probably heard it in a bar a few times so they were definitely during my time. I like them a lot at the time but they didn't seem to be big for a very long time.

They were amazing. No only Hold me Now, but so manny other songs. In the Name o f Love is a favorite of mine. Lies is another great tune.

Contrary to another poster, they were quite popular.. but not here in the US. (sadly). They had been around since 1977. Thomas Dolby--the Blinded me with Science and TONS more songs-- played with them for a while .

I actually liked them prior to Inthe Name of Love, and then like many of the other British "imports" got overplayed here in the US. I loved my quirky non twin group (not even a trio then) before others did.

I graduated in 1986- I remember them well! Loved the fact that they weren't Thompsons, and there were 3 of them!

Love love love Thompson Twins! I am a child of the 80's and love everything 80's! Hard to pick a favorite song since they're all great, but I think I'd have to pick "If you were here". Not as widely known, but since it plays at the end of one of my favorite movies(Sixteen Candles) it makes it extra special. I am a child of the 80's and love everything 80's!

Ooooooh doctor, doctor! Can't you see I'm burning, burning?

Heh. Love the Thompson Twins!

They were hugely popular when I was in high school.

The original "Thompson Twins", which is where I assume the musicians took the name, were characters in the english language version of Herge's Adventures of Tintin. They were bowler hatted detectives who looked identical but were not related. One was Thompson with a "p" the other was Thomson without a "p" which was all part of the joke. I think they first appeared in the 1930's.

If you have Sirius/XM, they get played on the "1st Wave" channel.

I would very much like to thank you for

1) Getting "Doctor Doctor" stuck in my head, and

2) Making me feel old

As a thank you gift, I was thinking of sending one of my prizes cassettes, the one with the Thompson Twins on one side and Howard Jones on the back. But my guess is you won't have any way to play it :)

Hold me now.... warm my heart..... stay with me..... let the lovin start let the loving start whoo-hoo-ooo

I definitely remember them! Then again I am a child of the 70s/80s. I loved their music!

Heard of them? I saw them when they played at Purdue University back in the 80's! :thumbsup2

I just spit out my coffee! I think I have a replica of your cassette, also with no place to play it...
