I thought this might bring a smile to some faces...

My 10 year old DD often sits and reads with me before she goes to bed. She is always reading words aloud and asking me for a definition. Tonight I got this:

Mum, what does porn mean?

I took a deep breath and asked her what the context was. She replied:

He wants to go to a porn shop.

I asked why. She replied,

He needs to take some stuff to a porn shop to get some money.

PAWN SHOP everyone. I almost cried with relief.:lmao:

I've had the opposite misunderstanding with my mum. I told her that the hotel we stayed in in Brussels was near a porn shop and she said, "Yes, they're everywhere these days, we've got one at home now - cash converters has just opened in town."

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: It's a good job you checked twice before trying to answer that one!

I wondered what on earth Jacqueline Wilson was writing about.:rotfl: I'm soooo glad I didn't launch in to a carefully worded, excruciating definition of 'porn'.

:lmao:

Brilliant. We have loads of examples of our kids putting us in exactly the same sort of situations. I wish we had kept a book from birth of the funny things they said and did. It would have given us hours of entertainment as we looked back on it :goodvibes

One boy I taught a long time ago said (when he was 7) "My Auntie has just had TWIGLETS."

I must've looked a bit blank because he added "You know - 3 babies - TWIGLETS!!!"

That was 15 years ago and I've never forgotten it. :rotfl:

We do exactly that Kenny, I tend to scrapbook everything and I write all of the funny things that they say in there - even just how they pronounce stuff is funny and nice to remember. It's become known as the book of Shelbyisms! :goodvibes

aww that's priceless. I did something very simular once when were in Florida for the first time, I was 11 and there were people in our hotel with 'Virginia State' written on their backs, needless to say I read that outloud entirely wrong! I don't know who was more mortified, me or mum!!

:rotfl:
Brilliant!!

I wish i had written down some of what my 3 have said

:rotfl::rotfl:

thats hilarious!
Kids say theee most hilarious things, I teach dance classes with kids between 3 and 10 years and i really do keep meaning to write things they say down.
Sometimes I actually have to turn away and have a little giggle to myself!
